    Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD

Hate to bump this with the MLB season practically over, but I wanted to make one suggestion:

    Ryan Braun = Johnny Estrada

Now I know that Estrada is a slow-moving mass of garbage, but his stance is pretty close to Braun's... the bat waggle, elevated back elbow, and front foot pivot, mostly. The only problem is that it lacks the glove-tightening on Braun's default stance. I hope they make a new stance for Braun in 09 that's like Estrada but with the glove-tightening and jersey adjustments he does when he steps into the box.

I'm also looking for J.J. Hardy (arms should be stiff straight out over the plate) and CC Sabathia (bat resting laxidasically on his shoulder).

By the way, my first two at-bats with Braun's Estrada stance were home runs... think about it!

        Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD

OK, some time on the PS3 and here are my Brewers corrections:

        Ryan Braun = Kazuo. Matsui
Does anyone know how to return it to the default? His was Generic 1, but now it doesn't do the glove adjustments and stuff. Anyway, there are two really good ones for Braun: K. Matsui and Estrada. However, Ryan Braun ALWAYS adjusts his gloves after taken pitches and missed swings, and this quirk is in his default stance but not the suggested changes. Matsui, though it does not have the glove adjust, is the truest to Braun's form. (Now, on a somewhat related note, does anyone know how to change it back to default without losing my other roster adjustments?)

        Prince Fielder = Prince Fielder
OK, not much to change there... I tried Brian Roberts, but that is a little too tall, and I tried Steve Finley, but the take-a-pitch animations are a little weird. Until further notice, I like the default.

        Jason Kendall = Victor Martinez
The real-life Kendall does a loose, piano-player-esque thing with his fingers on the bat, but no stance does that. Beyond that, everything else is great with Martinez, except the back elbow looks a little high. Still, it looks great when he swings and dumps one into the opposite field or slashes one down the line.

        J.J. Hardy = Timo Perez
This season, J.J. Hardy began holding his arms straight out over the plate and the bat completely vertical with no waggle. Nothing quite matches this, but the Timo Perez stance is close. This stance has a little bit too much of a bat waggle, but other than that, no one else reaches over the plate so well. It looks really good in-game.

        Russell Branyan = Russell Branyan
Unlike the Prince Fielder one above, this one actually is a change. They have Branyan's stance in the game, but as he was not on the roster at the beginning of the year, they made a generic-looking and generic-swinging character in a roster update. His stance is in the game, so use it.

        CC Sabathia = Jimmie Foxx
Trust me on this one... you'll thank me later.

          Interesting....

          I'm using:

Braun-Derrek Lee (mainly bacause of not only the high bat position, but that 'kick' with his lead foot). In real life, his hands are VERY close to his helmet...Kaz' are too far away, but Kaz' has the EXACT leg 'kick'...oh well...lol

          Fielder-Brian Roberts

Kendall-V. Martinez...I'm using that one too

Hardy-I'm using Ausmus. I don't have his video in front of me right now, but if his bat movement is kinda up and down, then Perez would be the way to go. Otherwiase, their stances (sans the bat movement) are almost identical

          Branyan-Eric Munson

Sabathia; Delivery: Sowers, Stance: A. Gonzalez

Did you try Jimmie Foxx for stance? He has the same leisurely stance that looks like he can't swing it at all, and then he rips it!

Where do you get video reference for the stances that you're looking at?

I'm sure I looked at Foxx, as I always scroll through all stances and deliveries too. I'm always looking for those one or two signifying things that enables me to narrow them down.

My video reference is mlb.com...but I RARELY used the highlights under most players' names...I go to an actual game and literally analyze an entire AB or two. Then using the player editor for the PS3, I SWIVEL the player to the EXACT position the video clip had him. That way theres no deception and I can get the stance as perfect as I can

first off i like timo perez for jj hardy altho jj has his arms spread out wider and his right elbow out more but the little bat movement and open stance makes it good.
and second the best stance for braun is matsui...the left foot movement and being open is perfect and because of the big two hand follow through and the spot of where his hands are is perfect too
