    Mark Melancon's Arsenal

    his arsenal:

he's only been in three games and he did NOT throw one changeup, so this is it for now. If later on, he does throw a changeup or two, I'd probably get rid of the 4-seam fastball

    4-seam (96mph)

    running fastball (95mph)

    2-seam fastball (94mph)

    12-6 curve (83mph)

    curve (85mph)

    Anyway....

the best delivery for Melancon is Sheets....

I liked Bonderman's, Guthrie's, Jennings' and Lee's also, but IMO, Sheets' delivery has MOST of the 'benchmarks' that ya'll have heard me talk about, including the timing to home plate: approx 3.20 seconds:wink:

What do you think of Matt Thornton's delivery for Scott Richmond? I find that pretty accurate. Well it is the closest I could find and i know Richmond has a hidden delivery but it's really one of the Generics so that doesn't count.

            nah, dont mention it....

I did something similar last year regarding Edwar Ramirez...

when I did his CAP, he was pitching from the stretch...

then Rob_NYY mentioned that Ramirez was pitching from a windup...

then some time after that, Ramirez went back to the stretch....

            LOL

I don't know, after watching more of Greinke's delivery, I don't see how Bonser works. Way too slow and not right at the tail end of it. Kazmir, Scot Shields, Andrew Miller, all look better for him.

I decided on Eckstein 4 Adam Rosales. carew, do u think the scea people got franklin gutierrez's stance mixed up with Jay Bruce's? FG's is almost perfect 4 Bruce

                    Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD

Why does that seem to be the case with so many people? It's like they put their exact stance in the game, but it's for some other player lol. Like Nate McLouth's stance is nothing at all like his own, yet it looks perfect on Matt Kemp, where as there's a billion different stances that could be used for McLouth that other players have in the game, so why weren't they?

ok, I MAY revisit this later, but let me ask you?

                        a) does Greinke fall off to the first base side after his delivery? (Bonser, Kazmir, Miller)

                        b) when he starts his delivery, and rocks back, does his glove go up to head height (Kazmir) as he continues his delivery?

                        c) does he start his delivery at head height (Miller)?

                        d) when he starts his delivery, does the glove start at face level, then go down to his stomach and swing back up to the side of his head (S. Shields)?

** the ONLY thing all of these deliveries have in common, is that they ALL fall towards the first base side of the mound, which is correct....

so it's got to be one of the above that makes the choice....

I have to watch more closely to get those specifics down. I'm just telling you off of the quick highlights I seen on ESPN earlier this morning, Bonser's doesn't look right. When his glove comes up at the end in Bonser's, it isn't right. Too slow, his body isn't positioned right, doesn't go high enough. Kazmir/Miller's both look better towards the back end of it.

The problem with what I saw, it was mostly him finishing his delivery. Or midway through it. I didn't get a chance to see how he starts it, so I'm just going off of how he finishes it.

I appreciate your honesty, but that's the problem, you gotta see the whole thing, not just the midway or the end.

Someone on here did that the other day regarding a reliever..then found out because he did, he had the delivery incorrect....

I know, hence why I asked in this thread to begin with. The only time I get to see the guy is through highlights or online videos, since it's not like ESPN/Fox/TBS will ever air a Royals game. I didn't even know that the delivery he had in the game was incorrect to begin with, until I saw more recent highlights.

I know Bruce already had one, but after seeing Gutierrez's I couldn't believe the resemblance. It's practically identical. Trust me, I watch a ton of Reds baseball here in the great state of West Virginia lol....
