Bumping this back up for anyone to use as a reference for this year. This thread consists of MLB 08 and MLB 09 edits. Page 71 is where MLB 09 The Show starts so I'm sure alot of these will transfer to MLB 10. Also, could a mod move this to the roster forum where it won't get buried so easily?

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
what's up? No offense, but some of you guys with this 'spot on' stuff ...ya gotta stop the madness...LOL
I'm gonna be serious here:
Last I saw, Longoria's bat either touches/rests on his shoulder or.....it's at a fairly low angle..and he's a little open in his stance
Stephen Drew's stance (while open; even though I don't like the front leg positioning), has the bat too high--top-of-the-helmet-high
Originally I used Branyan, which is more like it
And then I changed to Crede as someone suggested, but Crede's stance is closed slightly
I think I'm going back to Branyan unless....
IF Longoria's stance/hand-bat positioning has changed, then I apologize...
So what's the deal?Im going through possible Longoria's:
Stephen Drew (bat is held a little too high)
Cory Sullivan (too closed of a stance)
Luis Gonzalez (a little too hunched over)
Russell Branyan (a little too open?)
Joe Crede (closed stance, maybe too much bat movement?)
Out of those what do you think?

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
Some of the stances can't be transferred over that easily. There are over 100 Generic stances so you have to figure out which is which. For Example if someone was given todd Hollandworth's stance last year how are we supposed to know which generic stance is Hollandsworth's? cause his isn't listed anymore.Comment

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
Any other year I'd agree, but after Soriano changed his stance, it doesn't work as well this year. I made the move over to Headly, and I've also heard Rolen. But I think I'mma use Headly for now.Check out my three critically acclaimed dynasties in the Dynasty HQ section:

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
For Longoria I've been looking at Buster Posey, Mike Schmidt (too closed), Generic 39, (just a little too much bend), and Hank Blalock (would be near perfect if not for the slight lower body movement, imho)Comment

Anyone have a good one for adrian gonzalez? It seems that he has a more open stance in real life.Comment

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
After looking at this photo (see link below), and setting the batter stances on screen to match the angle of Brandon Phillips in the picture, the list of the ones I thought were closest is:
Josh Bard
Cliff Floyd
David Eckstein
Nick Swisher
Vernon Wells
Reggie Willits
Scott Rolen
Mark Teahen
Raul Ibanez
Ryne Sandberg
Generics 5, 26, 64, 84, 89
and the very popular Chase Headley
I ended up going with Generic 89, for now anyway...

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
Wright-Jackie Robinson. There MAY be a slightly better one, but I'm not really doing the Mets until I get through the other 29
K-Rod-Papelbon
Francoeur-Generic 80
Castillo-Brian Roberts; remember with most switch-hitters, I use their stance from the left side.
Matthews, Jr.-his own
Beltran-Loney

Re: Longoria
Last night..I found about 5 that were close (one key, being the bat position REAL close to his shoulder)
Counsel, Votto, S. Hairston and Monroe...but I settled on Sullivan...looks the best to me

Re: BATTING STANCE/PITCHING DELIVERY THREAD
If you find a better one for Wright please post it though..his knees are alot more bent this year and Jackie Robinson looks too upright for him...what do you think of Cody Ross?Comment
