Yahoo! sports has an interesting article about Japanese/Iranian baseball player Yu Darvish. At a very young 21 years of age, he is already considered a legend in Japanese baseball with his impressive pitching performances for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters. He’s getting tons of praise from his teammates and coaches as well as MLB players playing in the Japanese Leagues. He’s also notorious for his bad boy rock star image. Whenever Japanese newspapers and magazines plaster their covers with his picture sales start to go up. In a society that is characterized as humble and modest, he stands out from the crowd with his swagger. Also, his mixed heritage makes him unique in a country that is almost 100% homogeneous. While he isn’t going to appear stateside any time soon because Japanese players can only go into free agency after their ninth season, he is definitely being eyed by Major League clubs as a future prospect. And you’ll have a chance to see him next year as he will be pitching for Japan during the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Only time will tell if he’ll have a successful Major League career like fellow legendary Japanese baseball player Ichiro Suzuki.

    As I wrote earlier...this guy's stuff is OFFthe chain...there ain't NOOOOO doubt about it.

I found out that he's under Japan's contract rules for at LEAST the next 6 or 7 years...but who knows? Sometimes, money does talk...But with the rock star/pop star following he has, nothing is a given.

I was hoping this would be made for MLB2K8, as that's the only baseball game I have.

CAREW29, would you happen to know if this CAP would work well on 2K8 before I waste my time creating it?

        I would say yes, but...

once you do the basic stuff....

the only thing that you have to make sure converts over is the pitch speed.....

the control should be the same ('50' is '50' no matter which game, right?)

and the pitch break should be the same

I'm guessing the meter ratings on the pitchers are probably identical from PS2 to PS3...or at least I would hope. Here I go creating him on PS2. hahaha.

Hey Rod...I know you're not "in the business" of doing full CAP's anymore...but do you think after watching Yu in the upcoming WBC, we could get an updated cap for him?

Darvish just carved up China in the first inning! Woo! Boy can he spot that fastball and that slider has some ridiculously tight rotation on it.

There's nothing to change in terms of his look, delivery and pitch assortment...

when I find the time, I'll see if I can have his stats for 2008

are here are the stats for which this CAP is based on (2007)
                                15-5, 1.82 ERA, 210 K's in 207.2 IP
with 49 walks. 12 complete games, three shutouts, 123 hits, 9 HR

basically the same! Actually he was better in 2007
                                LOL
