Here are some videos from my first game (Reds)...

Cecil Cooper's Home Run (first hit of game)

Gorman Thomas Triple (my first triple in MLB 09 overall)

    Rollie Fingers Glitch

One thing I hate is that I had Fingers out there for a 2-inning save (he frequently had 2-inning and 3-inning saves) but since he's the closer, the announcers made it sound crazy. (Campbell said "2-inning saves were common back in my day, but you don't see them too much anymore" or something like that. They must have mentioned it about 6 times in his two innings of work.)

Also, I am playing in a minor league stadium. Miller Park just wouldn't look right.
Nice vids. I know, I brought him in for a two inning save my first game and it was like I belonged in a mental hospital for it. They were constantly going on about it.

Just played another fantastic game! In fact, I can't remember a time when I didn't have a great game with these rosters!

Chicago White Sox vs. Milwaukee Brewers (me)

It was a great game, but it didn't start off well. The first play of the game the horrible shadows at Miller Park made an impact.

Oops! A play at the plate came later in the inning.

When all was said and done I was down by two. The game went back and forth until the bottom of the eighth, where I was down 4-2. I was running out of time, but a three run rally saved the day. Then it was all up to Fingers...

Success! Here is the Box Score:

Also, you can see what I consider to be the defensive play of the game here. Even though they still lost: This saved two runs from scoring and tying the game. I think it happened in the seventh.

Nice play. Are those White Sox uniforms era-appropriate?

You know that the Baseball Hall of Fame has a section on their website called Dressed To The Nines that shows the uniforms for each team for every year. Pretty neat, you should check it out. BTW, the answer to your question is yes. They were in "their" throwback unis.

Whitesox, it's funny that you mentioned Law making that play because he had 2 errors in the game I played today.

Ouch. Yeah I was kind of angry when he made that play. I was like "Base hit!" and then he crushed my dreams. I actually thought it was over because that was the only rally I had been able to sustain so far.

Also, thank you for mentioning that site. I am there now, it is amazing.

I'm familiar with Dressed to the Nines. I actually went there today to check out those Brewers uniforms. I just didn't take the time when posting earlier.

One thing I hate about the site, though, is the fact that they don't have alternate uniforms in the images.

I'm glad I checked back. I just downloaded so now I'm off to try the Tigers out. The '80 Phillies sound great to me, Knight. Thanks for knocking these out!

Seattle has not been done yet, Motown. Please, if you don't have any time to do some CAPS at least let us in on the one's you have done already. I know you did Bench, Morgan, Strawberry, Clemente, Henderson and Stargell. Did I miss any? They all looked good to me.

I have the pitching staff and the nine starters of the '84 Tigers done.
I might have had the best game I've played yet with the classics as I took the '82 Brewers into Comerica to face the '84 Tigers.
First off.....I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE PARK TO PLAY IN! COMERICA!
I don't know if it's just me, but the pitching camera in Comerica looks different...and AWESOME. It seemed closer to me than other parks.
It was Mike Caldwell against Jack Morris.
In the first inning the teams traded both hits and walks and both managed to load the bases...but to no avail as both pitchers managed to get what they needed to escape unscathed. A K on a pitch in the dirt for Caldwell...and a SWEET(what else! ) double play for Morris.....Whitaker to Trammell to Bergman.(also a pickoff of sorts.....wierd play.....Whitaker was on third...the ball "got away" from Simmons and Whitaker was starting down the line to score..only Simmons still had the ball!....it never got away and Whitaker was thrown out trying to go back.)
In Detroits half of the second, it was Darrell Evans who got things going with a ground rule double down the LF line(right into the corner there) then Herndon moving him along to third and Lemon scoring him on a sac fly.
It was on from there as each team scored in the next consecutive four innings....
Going into the eigth with the Brewers coming back to take the lead 8-7......Detroit was looking for some magic from Trammell-Gibson-Parrish...what it got was a one-two-three inning from them...one of them being a robbed homerun by Stormin' Gorman Thomas to nearly dead center....
That left HoJo in the bottom of the ninth with two on and two outs to try and tie it or win it for the Tiggers....but all he could muster was a nice play by Don Money(who replaced Molitor who got hurt...I leave injuries on...even for exhibition) to end the game.
I know you guys say it...but I can't wait to play a season with these!!!

It really is a beautiful park. My family and I drove up to Detroit to catch a White Sox game(we live south of Chicago), and while the city itself is not in the best of shape, the park was gorgeous. It is almost like it was built in a hole. You walk in the entrance and the lower level seats are below you. I took a bunch of pictures, I'll see if I can find them.

White Sox lost 9-0...but I got free pizza (Some promotion, tigers score 9 and you get free Little Ceasers.)

                          Re: Knight - classic teams

I believe so far 2 of the funnest games I've played so far have been from your last 2 teams, the Brewers and the Tigers. I tried out the Tigers last night as they hosted the Brew Crew. The starting pitchers were Moose Haas for Milwaukee and Jack Morris for the Tigers. The Tigers exploded for 6 runs in the 3rd sparked by Gibson's 3 run jack. Moose was sent to the showers early, as he couldn't get out of the inning. The Brewers slowly chipped away on the 6 run lead as they got into the Tiger bullpen, but still came up on the short end of a 7-5 game. Cecil Cooper led the way for the Brewers with a 3-4 performance, as he was a triple shy of the cycle. Gibson led the Tigers going 3-5 with a HR and 3 RBI's.

                          Gibson going yard.
Cooper dropping one just inside the line.
                          Box Score.

Motown inspired me to work on some CAPS. I thought I'd try my hand at Strawberry after seeing Mo's, since he was my favorite player on my favorite team. I then worked on Gooden, but I don't know that I'm completely satisfied with him. Not shown is Pete Rose and Lenny Dykstra, as I've got a little more to do with each of them. I'll post pics of them when I'm done.

Nice games. I would like to point out that Kirk Gibson is a monster. I was a HR short of the cycle, and he hit one to the warning track. But he won me the game in the 12th on a double in the gap. I really like this Detroit team

                                Nice.

I'm going to have to go in and change my Cincinnati Reds Pete Rose as I think I have finally nailed him with my Phillies version.
Steve Carlton is VERY tough to do. He has a weird bird like kind of look and a kind of fat-wide face.
But I nailed Bowa, McBride, Maddox, Luzinski, Trillo..
You guys will see tonight...but I played the Phils starters last night and you're going to love it. In his first at bat against Ron Darling....Mike Schmidt simply JACKED(no pun intended..) a hanging pitch into the LF stands. .......line drive ...no doubt.
