hmm, can anyone actually find anything anywhere that links this guy to ESPN? Not even his blog mentions it yet it was the first thing he said in the opening post.
Once again, this mess would have been avoided if he had just asked knight for his permission. It's common sense for god's sake!

dlowrey, are ur rosters still in the vault i cant seem to find them.
Yeah, whining. This roster belongs to KNIGHT. He and I had discussions this year before he started all his work whether or not to make them exlusively his because of stuff like this, or not. KNIGHT trusted people to do the right thing. It's his work, period. People like me, Razr, Strut, the rest have helped him, so whether or not you find them "perfect" is not the point.

The roster belongs to KNIGHT, that's it.

I PM'D KNIGHT AND ASKED HIM FIRST.

        Authority problem?
        Jim-

Did Knight give you permission to make the up to date transactions for current day rosters, and if so will you be uploading them.

As for Dlowery I saw this thread when it first went up and all I could think of was " Uh-Oh", but then again maybe he is new to the boards and didn't know the unwritten rules. Nevertheless common sense would tell you to at least ask Knight if he would have minded. I think this is a case of someones heart being in the right place, but the head being screwed up.

Yes, he even said "you don't have to ask", and I knew I didn't, but I asked him anyway. I'm still updating it today and will gladly email it to you, but as for posting it on any site, not going to do that. I've already sent it to moemoe (hope I got that right).

                Look...
                I said my piece...
I don't want the guy banned...I don't want the rosters taken down.
As far as I'm concerned it's over.
To the guy who thought I was whining....maybe it's because I was trying to be polite about it...at least as polite as I could....and I didn't want to violate the T.O.S.
It sounds like you might be able to take a lesson in common courtesy yourself.
                Thanks.

If the guy would have posted something like this....

"Woops, I never even thought of that, my bad, let me PM Knight", there wouldn't have been a problem. But his sarcastic attitude?

Knight- you never cease to amaze me. This guy basically steals your work in a sense, laughs about it, and you are apologizing. You are well within your right to totally lambaste this guy, although I do agree he should not be banned, however You should be the last person to apologize for anything. Again the guy just joined in April and may not understand forum etiquette when it came to editing other peoples rosters and re-posting them. You are a class act Knight.

Look I understand that the guy was trying to improve on something.
Like someone said....heart in the right place ...
But if you realize the month and a half of 5-6-7 hour nights-days-whenever you can squeeze time in...to try and get these done and then someone just takes them...throws in a few changes and then slaps HIS name on them....and I shouldn't be ticked off(not you Goose......I know you realize this)...?...then I just don't think you are grasping what goes into this.
Especially, since I have someone working quite a long time on doing stances/motions/equipment updates already.
Sorry...but anyone can say anything they want(except for "I made a mistake")....but if you take something from someone...and call it yours....what is that? Yep....you know EXACTLY what it is.
Okay...didn't mean to get back on it.....
                        Carry on...

Im not real sure what the problem is someone needs to enlighten me. I do sim racing and there are guys just like knight that make car/truck templates and logos that take quite a while to get done. they put their work up to share with the public and all that is asked is that if you use their work you give them credit for being the maker of it. is that not what this guy is doing? if Im wrong someone please tell me.

PS- for example if I am making a truck to race and I use Mr. X's template for it. when I post my truck to show off Ill say template by Mr. X logos by Mr. Y etc. so if I was doing something to knights rosters Id say rosters by knight, etc changes done by me. I see no problem with that.

Re: DLowery's "Get In The Game" Rosters (Using Knight's Version 1)

I appreciate Knight's work as much as anyone here and believe that he did a truly great job to which we are all very grateful. While I do feel like it would have been PC to have asked for permission, I do wonder if what DLowery did is truly any different than taking the SCEA rosters and changing some things but not everything and posting them with a different name (Plus it appears that he did mention that they were Knights so it is not like he was taking credit for anything other than the changes he made). If he had not given credit to Knight, then that would be another story.

Personally, I'm going to use knights rosters but will make my own changes (don't worry. just for me--not posting anywhere.) Is that wrong?

Knight Thanks Again for everything. You put in a lot of time doing this which is something the rest of us either can't or aren't willing to do. From following your roster post from the beginning, I know that you are a very good guy and it's just best to let this go. Not that important.

But everyone is entitled to feel how they feel and this is just my opinion.

Like Cowboy and JD have stated, giving credit to the source is just like using another person's research in your own paper. You are using their hard work for your benefit and distribution.

But, it looks like I have struck a bad chord amongst some people here. I'll take the rosters down and bid the thread adieu.
