I am in good spirits for sure. I have played very little.

Heisey I think is a B, but I am sure Ridin will give him good attributes to work off of and increase his potential. I ran out of B's!

Frazier was a solid B, almost a fringe A. He will also be good.

Alonso was in the same boat.

      ksig,

As far as the rosters go, are you just going through and naming players that hit what you want potentiall-wise, or are you doing edits also?

And, i would love to become a scout for a major league ballclub, if you can get a minute, can you tell me how you became a scout?

You and knight will have to talk about that, but I dont see how two people working on faces could do anything other than speed this up.

Basically I have a list compiled of every major websites top prospects, that and a lifetime sub to BA and Perfect Game USA plus personal experience of seeing guys. I then take all the info and figure out who is the highest rated and who needs to be in the game. I then match up the age with the potential rating and edit the players name/pos/handedness/height/weight. I was not elected to edit the attributes. That is a tough task in its own right.

Scouting is tough to get into mainly because you either have to know someone or have some sort of playing background. The truth is that a lot of organizations have a high turnover in the front office mainly in the scouting department so whoever is hired to take over they generally bring their own staff which makes it hard. Just to give you an idea, we had a guy who basically was a genius and always chose super prospects that have become unbelievable major leaguers but he was let go because he was so fed up with us drafting certain players. If the powers that be actually listened to this scout, the Royals would have Tulo at SS, Longo at 3rd with the first pick in the 06 draft, and many more just to name a couple. Politics man. I could have signed Stanton, but his OFP wasnt favorable at the time he was taken according to our scouting director at the time, he is now unemployed!

Not sure if this has been posted yet but Jays signed a SS prospect from Cuba.

Young Cuban defector/shortstop Adeinys Hechevarria is headed to the Toronto Blue Jays, according to El Nuevo Herald, and will make $10 million over four years.

Hechevarria can now jovially put down his shortstop countryman Jose Iglesias, who signed an $8.2 million deal with the Boston Red Sox last summer.

The New York Yankees were thought to be the frontrunners to get the young Cuban, but the New York Post reports that Hechavarria didn't sign there because he thought his way to the majors would be held up because of Derek Jeter(notes). The word was that the Yanks would switch Hechevarria to second base and apparently he didn't want to make that switch.

Those are two websites that I would like invest in eventually, and very good man, I just didn't know exactly what youw ere supposed to be doing personally.

And yeah, I figured it would be very tough, and I can also see where it would get extremely frustrating when the guys at the top don't listen to what you say, especially if 3-4 years later you were proven correct on a certain plaer, such as the ones you gave. Maybe some day in the future an opportunity will come up, until then I'll be busting my tail to become a coach and work my way up from there.

To add to what Ksig said. I've been working to get into scouting. What's work for me is to go to a lot of high school games in your area. This is what I did and now some of the scouts recognize me and talk to me about certain teams and guys. If you are cool with them they will give you info about what they think also. It also helps to have contacts like he said. I am close with a major university coach who asked me if I would be interested in scouting and he has made some phone calls on my behalf. To make it look even better bring a stop watch and a scouting sheet to games and practice. The scouts took notice to this also and said I was on the right track and to keep it up. Good Luck

agreed. i worked with the cape cod league for a long time. anyone that has an interest in scouting and is in the north east, head down to some games and you'll find dozens of MLB scouts at every game that you can chat it up with. I got offered a position with the Astros 2 years back to help scout in the Dominican, but I just couldn't must up the courage to leave Boston lol

Eh, I don't know. It's kind of dangerous out there, and living conditions are not that good.

Made this offer already, but I'll make it again. I work for http://milb.com, and sometimes will interview players and coaches, and will sometimes get info that might be useful like pitch types, etc. Let me know if I can be any helps.
