Re: 1988 Beta Roster in Vault PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK/SUGGESTIONS/TIPS

    BFJ and Ryan4889,
I already went through all of the teams (26 of them for ’88 season) and edited the ratings for them season using Bahnzo’s tool, at least I think that is what the roster tool is called. I also edited their ages to feflect the player’s age for that season. I only edited the guys that played a significant amount of time for each team while making sure that each team had a 25 man roster. I only edited the NL pitchers batting attributes for the starters and a few spot starters for the NL teams. Now, some of the bench players and fringe players (players that did not have many at-bats but were placed on the 25 man roster to round the roster out) had ridiculously high or low attributes due to the imbalance of playing time so someone may want to adjust those. For instance, there are a ton of throwing arms at 99 using the roster tool. I also made sure that some of the players that were involved in a trade during that season were placed with the team that they started with that season, (Tom Brunansky with the Twins; Tom Herr with the Cardinals, Brady Anderson with the Redsox, Pedro Guerrero with the Dodgers before the Cardinals, etc. etc….) I also set the lineups and rotations but those can be changed. I used the work-around to get the accurate uniform numbers as well.
I can upload what I have if anyone desires these but most, if not all, of the credit goes to ryan4889 and anyone who helped him. I have never uploaded anything on to the roster vault before, is it easy? If I do upload these I will name them “1988 ros”. Also, if someone could go through and edit the faces it would be great. The only issue with editing the players is that when you edit the players with retired numbers while they are on the MLB roster, their number goes “out of wack” again. But if you; 1) move them out of starting lineup or starting rotation, 2) swap them with a AAA, AA, or A level bench player, 3) edit them, and then 4) swap them back with the player that you swapped them with before editing, their numbers will be fine. The numbers will be affected by player movement from their team as well, (even if that particular player was not the player being moved to a different team!) and you also have to make sure that none of the minor leaguers of the level you swap the player to do not have the same number as the player being sent down so that needs to be recognized as well. I also created a slider set that I use to counteract the high and low ratings if anyone is interested.
I absolutely loved (and miss) baseball in the 80’s and early to mid 90’s so these rosters really bring a sense of nostalgia to me and my friends. I will not be answering questions about how I got these ridiculousratings as these are the ratings that the roster tool gave me for that particular season. I will only respond to a bfj or ryan4889 if they would like me to upload these.
    Thanks

So you went through and my guess would be made these rosters pretty sweet, but you won't upload them for people to use? What good is that?

He's just avoiding the usual message board drama that comes from thread/roster-jacking, haha.

If you've already gone through and done a bulk of the ratings changes, I'm personally cool with you posting it, but I would wait for ryan, even though he's more than likely cool with it too. After you post it I can go through and do some tuning and tweaking with the fringe players and the lineups.

Is the Beta roster with a couple teams done still in the vault? I can't seem to find it

awesome news dudes!...go ahead and upload what ya got man...much appreciated for the hard work you can take just as much cred for this as I cuz i know how tedious ratings can be and how much second guessing yerself can drive you crazy (does for me anyways)...bjf can take what ya got and work on that a little...i'll finish doing gear & face edits for the last 17 or 18 teams i have not completed once this is done (for faces/gear I have finished NYY BOS BAL TOR KC LAD CHC 1/2 NYM & 1/2 OAK)...these should be pretty awesome once done and should make for an easier time creating rosters in 5 yrs both directions since the same players will be there...thanks again fellas

bjf, if you have already done a bunch of ratings work on the latest version of the rosters, i would just continue with that...if yount is working from my most recent set that was posted here, then i would work from that...up to you but the most recent one i put up that you are working from has several days worth of gear/face/pitcher repert./etc. work that the previous ones did not and im not too keen on redoing all that stuff...we'll have to wait and see what set yount was working from...regardless, yount if yer interested you could be a MAJOR help in fine-tuning these rosters as well as others in the future...thanks again

He guys, sorry I did not reply right away but I just had knee surgery yesterday morning and I have been a little "out of it." The set I worked with was the one with BOS, BAL, NYY, TOR, KC, CHC, 1/2 OAK, LAD completed, at least I think that's the one. I will upload what I have to the roster vault and you guys can do what you want with it.

Yount was kind enough to re-rate everyone on the 25-man MLB rosters as well as getting the retired number workaround working...he upped the roster as 88 ros on April 7...just sort by date and the 88 ros on april 7 is the one...these'll be fun to play with till I finish the rest of the editing at the end of the month...BFJ is also going to be working on this roster for the next few wks while im in school, so great things are on the way here...wont be long before you'll have a chance to play with any team's 85-95 roster (89 is the one I'm really looking forward to as the Cubs had a sweet team that year adding Jerome Walton to their outfield......just talkin about it gets me excited...still only the teams indicated have had faces/pitch repertoires/gear edited (these would be BAL BOS KC TOR NYY LAD CHC 1/2 OAK, 1/2 NYM, & 1/2 PIT)

I hear you on that 89 Cubs team. While o love those 88 rosters, I do love them, I can't wait to start a Franchise with that 89 squad. Jerome Walton, ROTY, Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams, man I getting pumped just thinking about those rosters.

That 89 season is one of my favorite baseball memories. I remember the 84 team as my first true baseball memory, but the 89 season I was in 8th grade and remember so much more about it.

By the way if get bored once your done with this project, the 84 season rosters would rule.

these have been great thanks for all your hard work, I finally got my lineups set by fixing the 25 man right before spring training ends, it seems to hold up good this way.

I will love 89, I'm a Yankee fan but my fav player is Ken Griffey Jr. and that is his rookie year, I will be going for the rookie home run record with Jr.

Sweet. Gonna go through and adjust the lineups and "scrubs" ratings. Hopefully I should be able to get through all of that by the time you hop back into the aesthetics/pitch repertoires
