    couple of things:

    1) i have played with Ricky Nolasco for Phil Hughes...the follow through isn't great but its workable. See what ya think.

    2) Joba is pitching from the stretch now...atleast he has the last 2 nights for the save.

Here's what I gathered (numbers in parentheses are horizontal and vertical movement, respectively):

      Mark Melancon
      Fastball: 92 mph (-5.0, 9.5)
      Curveball: 84 mph (-3.0, -6.7)
      Changeup: 83 mph (-7.1, -0.5)

For comparison's sake I looked at Alfredo Aceves' Pitchfx and Melancon compares favorably.

      Alfredo Aceves
      Fastball: 91 mph (-5.1, 9.7)
      Curveball: 79 mph (4.8, -6.6)
      Changeup: 83 mph (-8.3, 6.7)

      Data from fangraphs.com
      ----------------------

Erick, what can we deduct from this? Their fastballs are almost identical (control-wise, probably not). Seems like Aceves' curveball sweeps through the zone more than Melancon's. Anyway, let me know what you think.
I got some more info on him. He has a pronounced over the top motion that produces a 12-6 curve with a high velocity and a sharp break.

His fastball sits around 93-94 and tops out at 96.

Changeup is straight, but drops at the end much like a splitter does.

Both his fastball and curve are plus pitches.

There are a couple of places I've visited that say he also has a sinking fastball that he throws from time to time. I'm not sure though. I'll keep digging.

        This is accurate.
        Curve in low-80's
        Change mid-80's

Curious, how do you officially say his name? Is it Mel-uh-sin or Mel-ann-sin?

Mel-ahn-son is is generally how I say it. Mel-ann-son wouldn't be wrong though I don't think.

Have you tried Gen-15 for Hughes? Someone on this thread stated that before and I think it's the best one thus far.

I'll take a look at Nolasco's at some point and let you know what I think

Yeah I've noticed that too. I'm going to wait to see though if he continues to do that once Mo comes back.

Here is what I have compiled for Melancon. Some places say that he throws a 2-Seamer as well so I added that in case anyone wants it in his repertoire.

                4 Seam FB
                70
                65
                58

                12-6 Curve
                94
                45
                52

                Splitter
                37
                37
                48

                2 Seam FB
                80
                49
                63

Now I got the pitch attributes and pitches for the starting rotation. This is all subjective of course and it's tough to determine pitches in this game because of the restrictions it gives to editing, as well as the structure to the layout of the pitch types.

Having said that I did not want to stray too far from what they throw in real life because I would still like the pitchers to feel authentic when using them.

I walked a fine line when taking into account the pitch breaks and the pitch type and settled on these. It's based off of Bahnzo's work so props to him for the ratings and attributes.

                        Cutter
                        52
                        74

                        49
                        72

                        Changeup
                        34
                        28
                        71

I watched some of Phil Hughes spring training games and his changeup is clocked around 78-79 mph. It has some serious drop and tail. I'm curious to see how it develops throughout the year.

Let me know how these pitches play out. I'll make changes according to what other people feel.

hi there... for Andy Pettitte's 2seamer, isn't that speed attribute at 62, too high? I didn't check what 62 equates to on the PS3 right now, but I think a 52 is around 89MPH....

I'm pretty sure I had him top out at 90. I'm not near my PS3 so I can't give a definite. I could have made a typo if it is a 52.
