    Re: All-Timers Teams

A lot of the work in the vault is great, but my biggest complaint is about how many of them create the all time greats, but leave them as 18 year olds, and add their audio. I wish people would just create them, leave the audio out, let me make any changes I want, and then I could add the audio, and lock them.

I am basically doing the same thing you are (except with duplicates), but I age my guys to the age they were when I am basing them off of. I don't want an 18 year old Ruth being based off of his 1921 season.

      AMEN!

If you are going to put a player in the vault who is an SCEA Faced player, don't put the audio in, and let us edit the player as we see fit, just make mention that the player is set up in such way. Trust me, it would be a huge time saver to many people!

Yeah, I don't like that you can't edit them all that much once the audio is put in, which leaves me to keep doing the player vault trick all over again, but my big problem is ratings, in which I've decided to just plug my ratings from '10 into a spreadsheet and do them the same. Whithouut Bahnzo's Tool, I'm too lazy to calculate everything again. I'm tempted to do doubles this time, which would shorten the length, but we'll see. I just hate to see rosters overrun with all the same guys on 5 different teams.

The key with doubles is to do it within reason. Jimmy Foxx could be on two teams, but the other teams he played for... That's a big no. Same with a Randy Johnson. I think he is currently still the best pitcher to ever wear a Diamondbacks, or Mariners uniform. King Felix may be on his way to taking that spot in Seattle, but you get my point...

If he is the best for your team, I just feel like he should be there.

Granted, with Foxx, and the Redsox, you still have a guy like Mo Vaughn, or even David Ortiz that can play first, but there is no reason to say Foxx isn't one of the all time Sox players. You take away his last full season with the Sox (and it was still a very good year), and he hit .325, and averaged 40 home runs a year. He also played there 7 different seasons.

Anyway, that's just me. I don't mind seeing the same guy on 2 teams. Nolan Ryan in his late 20's (Angels) vs Nolan Ryan in his early 40's (Rangers). Each one based off stats from that part of his career, and with different ratings.

I guess, when I play a season of this, I like to see the best players to ever play that position.. Not the second best guy, because the first best guy already plays for another team.

            Re: All-Timers Teams

Maybe someone should simply start and maintain a thread of historic players. That way people could easily import players they like, and one person wouldn't be stuck doing an entire roster themselves.

In the thread there could be:

-a general criteria for creating players (40 hrs should = roughly 90 power, etc.)
-instructions on how to create players (with linked resources, information about how to do it right to avoid things like the Jeter head, etc.)
-a database of who has been created so far (reliable creators, well made players, etc.)

I don't know, the way they have it set up this year should be a cinch to create historic rosters, at least compared to previous years.

If someone started a thread I might even contribute some players. I've made full rosters in the past, but there's no way I'd have the time and energy to do that this year.

If someone has it in them, start a thread and use the first few posts to give instructions on how to create players, and keep track of players who have been made so far, etc. That would be awesome.

edit: would do it myself, just don't have the time or energy, plus I've never created players for The Show so I'm not really qualified at this point.

That does make a lot of sense and I think maybe it's the direction I'd like to go with my rosters as well. Nolan Ryan belongs on 3 different teams, as I'd probably have him on the Astros as well as the other 2 teams...

Other guys that I see going to other teams as well include Randy Johnson, Manny Ramirez, Jimmie Foxx, Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Roberto Alomar, and so on and so on...

I'll have to redo the teams, but I can cut out some of the lesser guys who only made the team because there were no better options due to the "no doubles" clause. I still have my "no doubles" roster for '10, so if I want, I can play that, I suppose. The only reason to do this for me is because a lot of the real faces are now there and it could have a more genuine feel to the gameplay.

                Re: All-Timers Teams

Alright, so after months of putting in glitched faces and scouring through the roster and player vaults to find players, I've got much of this done, appearance-wise, and plan on filling in the blanks myself from here on out. See the first post for the specs on this year's 2011 version...

Anyway, I am in no way taking credit for all of these created guys as some people did some great work. I will post rosters as I complete them once again, but with minor leaguers listed as well...

If anyone would like to help out, let me know and I can send you a list of guys to create that aren't yet in the roster set. I will be going through the thread from last year and creating every request that was made, whether I stick them in the main roster or in the minors.

I'm also working on bedwardsroy's franchise teams file simultaneously, but many of the players can fit into both rosters...so it shouldn't be a problem either way...

Anyway, I won't be doing this for sure on MLB '12 since the face glitch will be gone, so this will be the last version from me.

Yes, I will get them done, but like I said, it'll basically be a compilation pack from various sets with a few alterations to appearances and ratings (which I'll be transferring from the ratings I used in '10 with Bahnzo's Tools), as well as some of my creations mixed into the rosters where I couldn't find someone already created. I will take no credit for those that worked hard on those other sets and CAP's, but I just don't have the time like I did last year to create a set from scratch...

I have no idea when they'll be done. First, I'm helping with bedwardsroy's all-time franchises roster and there's a ton in that set that could be useful for this one, so I'm at least going to wait until that release to see what all I have to do...I've been slowly compiling them since the game's release and got as many of the SCEA faces into the game as I could, as well as many various CAPs and have a created a handful of my own. No one is rated yet, however, and I still have a lot to do once I get free to do this, but I'll update this as I can.

                          Re: All-Timers Teams

Okay, this week, I've been putting together a spreadsheet of the entire rosters...90 players on each team plus the free agents. I have most of the rosters worked out and am going to put as many players into this as possible. No duplicates.

I know that GForce is working on a similar set, and I wish him luck on it. However, I just plan on doing mine slightly differently.

                          1. I'm filling out the entire rosters all the way through the minor leagues. It'll take a while, but again, I'll be using templates from other roster sets to fill the slots and it's not nearly as time-consuming as it was last year. I've got tons done already and am just waiting on bedwardsroy's release before I start filling in the blanks using my own CAPs, some of which I've already done.

                          2. There's a debate of Pre-1950 HOF'ers Vs. Current era players and I side more with the current era of the past 40-50 years. I have nothing against HOF'ers, but considering the amount of discrimination back then, I can't see them competing against the quality of opponent in the league today where anyone with skill can play. The HOF'ers will be there on some level in the organization, but not as prevalent as in the other set.

                          3. Some of the lists in this thread are inaccurate as I have altered the rosters a little to try and fit them as a "team" rather than a group of the best available players. For example, I've now got 12 pitchers on each MLB level and take position flexibility into account, as well as Lefty/Righty combinations.

                          4. I have no problems with starters in the bullpen. Starting, bullpen, whatever. If they are good enough to be on the team, they'll be on the team. I want the best pitchers on them, regardless of whether I have 12 starters or not...though I can't think of one team who's come even close so far.

                          5. There are a ton of guys with lots of potential who have not established themselves in MLB yet (i. e. Bryce Harper, Brett Lawrie, etc.) that will be on their organization's A-level team and can be moved later once they make their splash.

Now, I don't know when these will be done. I'm still waiting on some things, as well as working full-time..and I probably won't spend all my free time doing this, but they will get done. I will upload the spreadsheet when I'm done with the teams.

Still chipping away at them slowly. I downloaded the all-time franchise rosters, but I haven't really had a chance to export/import anything from it yet. However, the importing overall is already pretty extensive as I'm starting to get to the point where I have to release current players into the free agent pool...though I'm probably going to replace all involved SCEA players with a "new" version because of the age variances and "card" issues. That will push things back a little further, but once I get done importing, things should move a little faster.

Still a good way from being done unfortunately. Have the rosters' listings almost complete for the spread sheet. Alphabetically, I'm just after the Kansas City Royals, but hey, at this time last year, I was nowhere near this far into it. Stay tuned...
