Re: 30 Team Roster Control Knight V2 Franchise File with DL, Lineups & Rosters Set

I'd like to start my franchise, but I'm hesitating between this roster (V2 after spring training), or V4 (which seems in the final stages, even though it might have some problems with stamina as off right now).

Consequently, I'd like to have your input on how V2 plays. Is it realistic ? How are your franchises going ? What would I miss if I take V2 instead of V4 ? What's your take on pitch edit ?

This is my first year playing the Show, so I'm a little bit lost with all those rosters available

I'm using V2 this year, last year (and the year before) I used the versions with 'pitch edits'. I'm more stoked on NOT using them now, than using them.

Although the intentions and 'realism' of the modifications seem great, they don't translate well to the programing and 'playability' of the Show. I can respect the monumental scouting, effort, and undertaking it must be to input all the pitches, breaks, speeds, movements, stamina, etc, in V4, but it's a slippery slope.

Ensuring all pitches have 'movement', although realistic, does not translate to the mechanics and AI of how opposing batters face you. Changing fastballs to sinkers to replicate how they really react is wonderful, but it doesn't change how the AI reacts to a fastball v. a sinker. Moreover, you can add movement just fine by learning how to meter pitch properly. The stamina issues per V4 are another story entirely.

In the end, at least for your very first year playing the Show, until you really figure out which end is up so to speak, go with V2, you'll be stoked. If you feel like you're missing something thereafter (you won't) grab V4.

      Cheers!

Thanks for your input, I was thinking the same but I'm glad an experienced player could confirm it to me. I'll play at the veteran / veteran level, with no aides (no API, no PCI, no strike zone, no hot zone, ... only the pitch marker to help know what I am targeting and the pitch break, and the pitch callout to see the speed and pitch type which are information displayed in every team ballpark).

That way, I feel like the realism is just excellent.

What sliders set do you advise me to use at the veteran level ? Can I use yours, or should I rather use Psycho's or DrUrsus sliders set at that level of play ?

In level of difficulty (easier to hardest)

          Psycho
          DrUrsus
          Me

Depends on your skill level, and how 'quickly' you want to play a game.

WEll, I've always played in all star so far, and I was terrible at hitting with Psycho's sliders... I might just have to stick with those to start in veteran I guess, unless you think there's a huge dropoff in the level of play from all star to veteran.

Just played my first game at veteran / veteran levels with no aides... and I won my first ever game on The Show. 2-1 in 11 innings on the road against the Reds.

              Cardinals 2 11 0
              Reds 1 8 1

I thought hitting was much easier, and pitching was much more forgiving ! I'm in between those veteran and all star level, have never won a game in all star, and feel strong at veteran despite that first close result...

I guess I'll make it harder in time, based on my results... do you guys change the level of play during your franchise ? Should I start immediately playing at all star level and live with the growing pains until I start winning consistently ?

              Cheers

Kind of how in Fantasy sports there's a top 20/30 undroppable list? I'm just going to make sure that list is handled as realistically as possible. Everything else can happen as those 29 other teams see fit.

In fact, I have all Roster Moves set to Auto (call-ups, Free Agency, etc) and it has been working beautifully.
What a relief! I started a franchise set to all manual. After 15 min, I needed to turn off the PS3 for a couple of days.
