Re: 2011 MLB Draft Class Prospects

I just downloaded the 6 first rounders you have uploaded so far and they are great, thanks so much for the hard work.

I only have 7 players left from the first round:
    P Jose Fernandez
    P Sonny Gray
    P Tyler Anderson
    P Alex Meyer
    P Robert Stephenson
    P Sean Gilmartin
    SS Joe Panik

Could I also get a CAP for 1B Daniel Vogelbach, he was drafted by the Cubs #68 overall.

Once again, thanks so much for the CAPs.

got it, I have Fernandez, Gray & Meyer done, so they will be up in the next hour or so. Digging up some scouting reports and videos on the other guys to make sure I have the faces, motions and stances done correctly. Feel free to post any links to videos or reports if you have anything really good for me to take a look at. I should hopefully have everything done tonite, if not then early tmrw.

I checked out Cole, Bauer and Rendon. Is there a reason why some of them are 18 years old? Did you make most of the NCAA drafted players 18 years old?

About Cole, if I remember correctly, you had Gerrit Cole's first name spelled incorrectly.

Did you use LSU's Anthony Rendon because I loaded both of them and they had the exact same face and attributes? Something could have glitched, but I tried loading both of them twice and they were the same each time.

Also, Gerrit Cole was rated very low, especially compared to Trevor Bauer. I would suggest an increase in his per nine attributes for anyone who uses it.

Remember, when assigning pitch speeds that whatever pitch speed that you assign to a player, the CPU will add 3 or 4 MPH to that on average. The best thing to do is to lower the MPH on each pitch by one and a half to 2 MPH.

With that being said, thanks for your work. I don't mean anything that I said in a rude manner.

Thanks for clearing that up. That's my fault for getting you confused with someone else. After downloading so many and then loading them, it's fairly easy to get mixed up. With that being said, I still should have made sure before asking.

If you want, I will delete my posts here and you can delete yours that way no one gets confused or thinks something that they shouldn't about your work.

YD99, Robert Stephenson also throws a slider:

Like Bailey, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Stephenson has the power arm going for him. Besides the fastball, he can throw a slider, curveball and changeup.
Also says he throws fastball as high as 97-98 range, and you have him at 94.

Thanks for the update about the slider, I didn't see much about it on the scouting reports I read, but I'll be sure to add it in. The reason I put his fastball at 94 is the fact that from what I've read he normally throws 92-95, and his high is the 97-98 range so to keep the 92-97 range,it seems to work out in the game that putting it at 94 allows him to throw in that 92-97 range. It seems to work that way for me at least, not sure if its the same for you.

YD99, one other thing I noticed when I do was checking progression with some test sims and Stephenson. He had -1 regression his 1st season with training off and negligible progression with training on. My guess is that his ratings are either too high with the potential you gave him, or that giving all the players age of 18 was responsible for negligible progression. I'll make another Stephenson later with the template you introduced with A potential, and that should fix the problem.

Thats interesting, I'll do a few more tests sims in the next couple hours and see what I can find. Hopefully adjusting the ratings a bit should fix it. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. It's hard catching problems with every guy, so its nice to have help. Thanks for spotting it.

Re: 2011 MLB Draft Class Prospects

I have two requests, if someone could help me out.

Mariners: Brad Miller, INF, 2nd Round

"Teams pursued Miller out of an Orlando high school, but his signability pushed him to the 39th round. He started at shortstop for most of his first two years for Clemson, and spent the last two summers with USA Baseball's college national team. After failing to register an extra-base hit in the summer of 2009, he hit .441 last summer with four doubles and a home run. Miller kept hitting this spring, especially after returning from a broken finger. He led the Atlantic Coast Conference in batting (.431) and on-base percentage (.536), earning ACC player of the year honors despite an odd approach that evokes Craig Counsell. He holds his hands high to start his stance, and while he doesn't always get his hands into an ideal hitting position, he has excellent hand-eye coordination and keeps his bat in the strike zone a long time. He's been inconsistent defensively, including 31 errors as a sophomore, and has had inconsistent throwing mechanics. He has been steadier this spring but probably fits better at second base. He's a solid-average runner, if not a tick above-average, and has good baserunning instincts. He's a baseball rat with good makeup."

                            Dan Paolini, 2B, 10th round

"A pitching prospect for most of his high school career, Dan Paolini sustained a shoulder injury and had labrum surgery before his senior year, but Siena still pursued him as a hitter. As a sophomore, Paolini ranked second nationally with 26 home runs, and the new bats this season only slightly slowed his production, as he walloped another 17. Scouts were more concerned with his numbers in the Cape Cod League, where he hit .200 with four doubles and one home run in 110 at-bats last summer. Power is his only plus tool, and he has a long, uppercut swing, making some scouts wonder whether his bat speed will play against premium velocity. Though he's a good athlete, Paolini bulked up this year and looked stiff. He is a below-average defender with an average arm and likely will move to left field. Paolini should get popped between rounds eight and 15."

Scott McGough, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers 5th Round

Scouts got excited about McGough, the son of a former Indians farmhand, after he went 5-2, 2.45 last spring and then had a successful summer with Team USA. His results (4.28 ERA in 29 appearances) haven't matched his stuff this season pitching out of the Ducks bullpen, which has puzzled scouts. He isn't physical at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, but he's the best athlete on the staff and has a quick, loose arm. He pitches at 92-94 mph with his fastball and can run it up to 96. Oregon tried to add a curveball and a changeup to McGough's arsenal this year, but he decided to focus on developing one wipeout pitch instead of three average offerings. His go-to strikeout pitch is an 82-84 mph slider that has been inconsistent this spring, but he can throw it for strikes. McGough can get caught between breaking balls, but his slider has the chance to be above-average. His pure stuff, solid track record and competitive makeup give him the potential to work at the back end of a bullpen.

                            Thank you
