I coached Matt on my scout ball team and if he doesnt progress as the top draft pick pitcher he was drafted to become then he will probably convert to a 1B. Matt hit like 24 homers in his senior year at Norco High. Great kid too!

              Re: Hobgood

He's done. He still has some issue in his shoulder that's causing him problems. He's been topping out at 86 MPH ever since he was drafted. Giving him C potential would be generous...he was a terrible reach pick that had no business going in the top 5.

He was definitely drafted higher than he should have been. You have to consider than he's still college age. Plenty of big league pitchers have had velocity issues while dealing with injury and have rebounded to be as good and sometimes better than before.

Of course it's a concern, but he does have talent. According to the scouting reports, he was back up in the 91-94 mph range with the fastball last year. I'm not saying he's Dylan Bundy talent, but if all goes well with his shoulder, he could definitely be a good back end of the rotation starter.

It might help that I'm not an Orioles fan, so I can be as objective as possible without worrying about the high draft pick.

Where is Brian Roberts going to be on the openning day roster? I understand he is starting the season on the DL with no set timetable on his return. However I would still like to be able to have him on my opening day roster. I play in season mode, so I don't have access to a and aa players. Thanks

Just bring him up - he'll be in the O's minors with this roster.

I'll do that tomorrow. I'm hoping I can have the roster complete by early next week. I'd hoped for before the weekend, but haven't quite met that deadline. I have a big fantasy draft to do on Monday, so I've a bit of big boarding to do for that...then get the roster finalized.

                            Ouch.

Just got home and the O's are on MLB Network - homework time.

The Orioles have tons of players who have lots of prior MLB experience and have been in previous versions of this game (Nick Johnson, Steve Tolleson, Jon Link, Josh Barfield to name a few) but are not in this year's version.

When Sony includes them in roster updates, will they actually be the old player models? Or, will Sony only release 'rookie' versions of the players with semi-accurate, editable faces? With last years ability to recreate old players and activate their old model, I kind of forget how new players are included in future roster updates that have been in the majors before.

I'd think they'll be the real players updated with proper stats, etc. I haven't made any of them because I'm expecting to get them from the regular season update and just ditch some borderline prospects.
