Re: Scott's OSFM ZiPS Re-rated Rosters
ehh, Walters has a chance at being something good, not so much for Heidenriech. Here's rotoworlds take.
Walters, 22, projects as an intriguing prospect with a low 90s fastball and above average slider. Baseball America ranked him as the White Sox's No. 26 overall prospect prior to the 2012 season. He's likely a year or two away from reaching the majors.
A fourth-round pick in 2009, Heidenreich has a fastball in the low 90s, but is viewed as a work in progress, with projectability at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds. He's posted a 5.89 ERA in three starts since being promoted to Double-A Birmingham last monthSteelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Gorman Erickson to Mid C
Sandy Leon to Mid C
Mycal Jones to Mid C
Noel Arguelles to Mid C
Felix Sterling to High C
Miguel De Los Santos to mid C
Jordan Akins to mid C
Just a reminder that I can't get to this until Tuesday and Scott will be done tomorrow. Things like risky Astros prospects obtained from the Blight Sox could probably wait for v4 if neededYeah, NFG4M, I put them on the same level as Storm Throne just not as interesting of a name

Re: Scott's OSFM ZiPS Re-rated Rosters
In all honesty, I've run Astros franchises thx to your thread and I wouldn't see these guys being any help to any team. Putting Milk Carton in your pen would serve better...but I'm no baseball exec, just a White Sox fan who has been slowly but surely fading away from them as Ken Williams does his thing like drafting his no talent son and turning a blind eye to his friend's corruption in the scouting ranks.Last edited by rjackson; 07-21-2012, 04:51 PM.Comment

In all honesty, Walters MIGHT be a low to mid-C in my eyes and Heidenreich a mid to high D. I've run Astros franchises thx to your thread and I wouldn't see these guys being any help to any rotation. Someone mentioned projectability and that projectability is AAA at most in my eyes, but I'm no baseball exec, just a White Sox fan who has been slowly but surely fading away from them as Ken Williams does his thing.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Doing Heidenreich CAP now, I say def. include Walters b/c he's a lefty that has a pulse, also recommend including Heidenreich CAP b/c he's in Double A and accurate double A rosters are always good.Comment

Not sure if your planning to just post it or what, but I'd recommend creating a new category and adding it to the pitch edits spreadsheet.Comment

Re: Scott's OSFM ZiPS Re-rated Rosters
This has to be disheartening to any Astros fans and franchise players:
In an Insider-only blog post, ESPN's Keith Law says the two pitchers the Astros received in exchange for Myers - Matt Heidenreich and Blair Walters - "barely qualify as prospects." He says Walters has a chance as a lefty specialist.
ESPN's Buster Olney hears from rival executives that the Astros seem to be following the old Devil Rays strategy, meaning they'll accumulate top draft picks for several years because their big league team will be so bad (Twitter link).
Too bad they put a 90 player limit on roster sizes, some older guys could be decent taxi squad AAAA injury replacement lie players but do you push them out for fringe prospects?
Yanks, what kind of potential did you give them?Comment
