I have also seen the Bishop Gorman team with the Harper brothers and Goey Gallo. The majority of the time you go to a school to see one player, two if lucky. I will post more if I can think of any.
The Bishop Gorman teams are always good. At one point they won like 5 straight state titles. The school also has plenty pro/famous alums as well.

      Good question,

I would say that its either Chris Stratton or Mike Zunino for the college players. I just think that Stratton will carve em up and force the issue. I would give it to Zimmer in a hearbeat, but the injury will slow that up.

I think that Addison Russell ends up being the first HS player up due to the teams need for an adequate SS. Hit bat also rises.

        Ksig,

Thanks for taking your time to do this great thread. I'm really excited to see what Oscar Taveras can do at the big league level. Have you seen him defensively? I see that he played most of his games in centerfield last year, is he skilled enough to play there in the majors?

My pleasure man! The answer is YES! Buh bye Jon Jay! Who doesnt like Jon Jay, but Tavares is the answer and I have heard many say that a May callup is imminent if he hits in ST as well as to start off the season.

So do we have any information as to how the player progression engine or potential system is going to work this year? We should start talking ratings.

Here is a kid I also like a lot and that's Wyatt Mathisen. An athletic Catcher that played infield , strong arm and good pop from the right side. Description wise sounds like a HS version of a certain MVP. What's your thoughts ?

Mathisen is a great kid. I really like the pick that Pitt took in taking him. He is very, very athletic and has a very good arm to boot. I see them developing him as a catcher and even though it may take some time for his development, I see it being a successful venture. He has good power and once he taps into it along with his above average contact skiils at this level he could be someone that really jumps.

Besides the obvious 3, I really like Clay Holmes. Huntingdon has a spotty history with prep arms but Holmes has the size and projectability that you like. Best of all his mechanics are simple which for a big guy is a plus. 5 yr guy do you think ?

They aren't getting rid of Jay any time soon.

Not saying that they are getting rid of Jay, saying that his role will decrease. Contact skills aside, what can he provide that the phenon cannot out do?

What's your take on the prospects the DBacks got for Upton. I think it was a weak haul and thought they could have gotten a better package if they had waited.

He's an absolute boss in center...I see Tavaras playing in AAA, coming up in september and taking over for Beltran in right next year...unless Matty, Jay, or Beltran go down for some serious time.

I think that the D-Backs got what they were looking for in two nearly certain MLB'ers, but I think the fact that they needed a SS so bad was merely a ploy to obtain and ship for more pitching. Spruill could be an average starter, but Delgado finally has the opportunity to pitch at full capacity and I think that he shines in doing so. He really has nasty stuff.

If the snakes ship Ahmed off in a package deal with Krauss or a flailing AAAA guy who looks sexy based on upside for a quality SP then I think its mission accomplished for them.

They really couldnt have gotten much more in my opinion. A lot of teams trade key players and we all basque in finding out who they got in return and it always ends up being c level prospects and a Phil Humber type. It lets everyone down, but pro ranks of baseball brass make decisions based on money and organizational depth, not always for names and sexyness...
