    Re: Fictional Rosters 13

Looking real quick at the Orioles roster they are gonna need 21 position players created and 19 pitchers. 40 is pretty much the norm for each team, give or take a few.

The Roster Generator produces 13 position players and 12 pitchers for each team generated.

So if we produce two rosters from the roster generator for each team, and use those to fill out a team, we should have a little room to play with.

If you would like I can do the Orioles and then see how well it works out. I can then post my findings and opinions here for all to see.

I was a big fan of these as well. Really makes the GM side of baseball stand out when you get a fresh team with fictional players. Especially with the new scouting feature and the players' picture becoming virtual when they change teams.
      Hopefully it all goes well!

Ok the Roster Generator is gonna work with some additional steps. This is what I think should be the process.

As stated above the generator produces 13 position players and 12 pitchers. There is no Potential Rating given but there is a "Rating" category.

Looking at the Orioles for just a few minutes, time has not been as free as I had hoped, you need to "Open" TWO of the generators simultaneously. ***DO NOT CLOSE EITHER ONE, AS WHEN YOU RE-OPEN IT, A COMPLETELY NEW ROSTER WILL BE CREATED!*** Both roster spreadsheets will need to stay open for the duration of the editing of each team.

With two generators open, you will have 26 position players to choose roughly 21 position players you need for the team you are editing. You will have 24 pitchers to choose the the roughly 19 pitchers you need for the team you are editing.

What I think will work is...If you have 4 "A" potential position players that you need to edit, pick the four highest rated roster generated players on the two spreadsheets and make those the "A" potential players. If you have 5 "B" potential position players, make those guys the 5 next highest rated players on the spreadsheets, etc.

The Roster Generator is based on last years game so there will be some things left up to the creator to decide on. Also, the facial morphing will still be up to the individual creator.

Preliminary work looks promising. Now we just need to decide how we are gonna share the workload.

I'm still a little confused how this would work as I'm new to group roster editing.

So someone makes a "base" roster with a bunch of fake players.

From there we split the duties editing all the generic players in the base file? Also, would it have to be so one person works on their teams, then uploads the file for the next person to download and do their teams, etc, etc?

The first thing that needs to be done is ALL players with MLB experience need to be removed. And don't forget the free agents, did that one time. The way I handled the free agents last year was that I put all free agents that had MLB experience on teams. Trading them out for the teams worst player usually. Kinda like a pre-draft. That gives each team one or two decent players from the free agent list. Then I performed the method above to get rid of all players with MLB experience. This takes a while is not a lot of fun. Anybody want to tackle this first MAJOR step?

Remember only copy over players with MLB experience. If they are a Sony made up player just leave them on the roster.

I am willing to help create players faces and accessories once the initial roster is setup.

Awesome, whenever you get it up on the vaults, let me know I have free time to help create the players and what not. Looking to do the AL East and some of the NL.

Again thanks for this project. Sometimes I actually like playing the game more with fictional rosters.

Yikes. This seems like a TON of work. I'd be willing to help out and contribute in adding players to teams, etc. But someone is going to have to come up with the base file first.

I may have time after all to make the base file. Just need slugg to respond to my PM to confirm I'm doing it right and I should have the file good to go after the weekend. Once it gets figured out, myself or slugg will make an official thread and start gathering people to help with the editing.

One thing to keep in mind too is the 'Generate Appearance' button that can be used to start on each player edit, saving substantial creation time. A couple of good dedicated folks and we can crank these out in no time.

This will get done. It's just a matter of when. Woj56k is stepping up big guys. It's gonna take a handful more guys to help though. One man doing it all will drive him crazy!! It's too much work for one man. My free time is nonexistent right now. Like I told woj56k I am a high school football and soccer coach. We have football practice every morning at 6:30 and soccer practice and games after school. I'm a zombie right now. Lol I'll lend any advice possible and hopefully at some point will be able to do some of the hard stuff.
