Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
I'm certainly not disagreeing that it should be reduced, but I believe plate discipline corresponds more to walks. I think plate vision is what correlates to strike outs.Comment

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
Every year once the OSFM roster is released I go through and edit the base roster players to the best of my knowledge. However, with being primarily a Tigers fan I do not know many edits beyond that.
I am not looking for perfection here, but post any edits for ratings or pitch edits/pitch speeds that you think should be right. For example, I feel that Justin Verlanders fastball should be a running fastball instead of a 4-seam.
I am also going to give Quinton Barry a bump in speed and baserunning ability.
Knight and the crew do an awesome job on the rosters, makes the game so much more enjoyable for franchise. I am so looking forward to starting my franchise soon!
Again, I am not looking for perfection, just maybe some opinions. Also, there is another thread for batting stances, and deliveries. Just looking for ratings and pitch edits. Thank You.

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
True. I will lower that and see what his vision is. I do know he strikes out though so 99 for disc is way too much.Comment

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
Vision deals with K's while disc. deals with walks. Pena should have around 30-40 vision. He does take tons of walks so his disc. will be very high. Go check out Dunn. I bet its the same thingComment

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
If you are familiar with the fan ratings over at Fangraphs I consolidated all of the ratings and applied them to a scale where the highest rating got a 99. The tabs at the bottom are self explanatory, but I would stick to the first two...

Really late response but he has a 30 point split in the minors (2011-2012, only years tracked here) which is pretty much the standard split for lefties anyway...
thanks sooo much for all your work sean.
you have covered reaction, speed, arm strength, and arm accuracy.
how about fielding ability? does "hands" correspond to fielding ability? or a combination of hands and first step?
thanks.Comment

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
I'm just speculating but I think people have mentioned velocity increases as players progress as well. That may have been the reasoning for the 92mph. If you set him to 96 now he may progress too much in that area.Comment

Re: Base Roster Edits for OSFM
Evan Gattis was given a 0 for his blocking rating for the Braves on OSFM; so does Eddy Rodriguez for San Diego.
Edit: Catcher Spencer Kieboom for Washington has 0 blocking also.
Zach Wright for LA Angels has 0 blocking as well.Last edited by thefakeJTS; 04-03-2013, 01:53 PM.Cleveland Browns
