Re: Classic Teams
The NL Central is done. These should be ready when the calendar turns. I'm really excited to use these as I haven't been playing much at all due to this editing project. Feels good to put my stamp on these and make a contribution. However, outside of my adjustments to the year specific player ratings and some edits to batting, throwing hand, and removal some of the announced player names, all credit for players' faces, stances and pitcher repertoires goes mainly to the fine folks I mentioned on page one.
Also, due to Knight's awesome contribution with regards to classic teams, I will not be putting out a second edition as it would be redundant. I do plan on creating the '86 Red Sox and having the 2013 world champs in a separate set, but I'll just be filling in the minors with teams that have already been created. One more week...Last edited by bostongahden; 11-24-2013, 09:37 AM.Pitching, defense and 2 out RBIs win a lot of ball games!

Re: Classic Teams
Well all, after 5+ weeks, it's a done deal! I just uploaded the roster as Classic Teams V1.1. My PSN handle is greenmonster_37. I am pretty pleased with how the ratings turned out. I noticed a couple of surprises or anomalies but I stuck with my rating format and when I reviewed the season stats, it made sense. I will put out the '86 Red Sox in a separate set later, but for now I'm going to just enjoy playing this once again. It'll be like a new game with these re-rated teams and Knight's teams as well. Enjoy and feedback is welcome. I'll be posting some playoff results from time to time just to let you know how these are working out. PeacePitching, defense and 2 out RBIs win a lot of ball games!

Re: Classic Teams
Thank you again for everything!! With V 1.1, did you include all of Knight's NL teams? And... are the AL teams (your teams) listed on the first post remaining as is?
Ready to fire up and play V 1.1! Oh... what level would you recommend for playing exclusively in "manage only" mode?

Re: Classic Teams
Jack,
Thanks very much. All the teams in v 1.1 are "mine" in the sense that I re-rated all players. None of Knight's are in this version and all teams are as advertised on the first page. I asked Knight about bundling some of his teams in a v1.2 with a few more of mine and he was gracious enough to give me the green light. Don't know when I'll get to this but it'll come out eventually. I play on all-star but I don't play manager mode.Last edited by bostongahden; 12-03-2013, 08:42 PM.Pitching, defense and 2 out RBIs win a lot of ball games!

Re: Classic Teams
Having an absolute blast with your teams. My favorite teams are the 1961 Yanks, and having grown up in Philly, the 1980 Phils. The CLASSIC pitching matchups... just endless.
Just managed the Phils to a 8-0 whitewash over Maddux (0.811 WHIP) and the Braves. Lefty goes the distance... 4 H, 0 BB, 11 K's. Bob Boone knocks in 5!
Thx again!!!!!!!Comment

Re: Classic Teams
Redemption Continues - 1978 Playoff Game Redux
A familiar hero re-appeared in my latest classic baseball matchup as the 1978 Red Sox hosted the 1978 New York Yankees. This game would remain scoreless until the tenth inning. Dennis Eckersley and Ron Guidry matched each other pitch for pitch in this one and were both simply outstanding.
It looked as though history would repeat itself with an RBI single off the bat of Willie Randolph in the visiting half of the first extra frame. However, Fred Lynn would slam a solo shot to left center to extend the game to the 14th inning. Carlton Fisk would come to the plate with runners on first and second and deliver a game winning single down the left field line. Dick Drago would pick up the win in relief. The Sox move on to the ALDS against the 1985 Royals. Click on link below for highlights.

Nice highlights! Chambliss made a nice stop on Yaz's shot down the 1st base line. Dwight Evans... very underrated in my book. What an arm. He was a pretty clutch performer as I recall. Got better with age...
Was that Butch Hobson #4, at 3rd? Always liked him as well.Comment
