I traded Barney to the Rays for Chris Archer and called up Baez to play 2nd base. In his debut he went 2-5 with a single in the 9th(first career hit) and a walk off 3 run homer in the 11th!

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
I'm still in April in my chise (working 2 jobs so it's hard to get games in, may go player lock for a stretch of games in order to catch up) but third game of the season Bryant went down with a broken hand, out 1-2 months. Other than that nothing eventful has really happened, however Castro is hitting near .150 towards the end of April (some of that is him being cold and some of that is me being a terrible hitter to begin with lol).Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Kyle Schwarber is an interesting pick in the first round, but I don't know where he fits. The Cubs were obviously taking his bat, but considering the Cubs don't play in the NL with a DH, I don't know where he would play. He clearly will not remain at catcher due to his lack of defensive ability, 1B is locked up with Rizzo over the next several years. The only real possibility is for him to be an outfielder, probably right field. I think the Cubs are starting to look for insurance for if Soler and Almora don't pan out in to the bigs. Could be an interesting future though if you think about the possibilities:
C- Wellington Castillo (or someone else)
1B- Anthony Rizzo
2B- Javier Baez
3B- Kris Bryant
SS- Starlin Castro
LF- Jorge Soler
CF- Albert Almora
RF- Kyle Schwarber
OF- Junior Lake
3B/1B Mike Olt
2B/SS Arismendy Alcantara
Plus another couple of position player. Odds are someone in this group will be traded at some point for a high impact player when the Cubs are ready to compete.
Pitcher Jake Stinnett seems like a developmental guy since he only has one season as a pitcher, but they seem to think he has potential, plus a college senior will save them money. He has a lot of pitches: Mid 90's Fastball, Sinker, Slider, and Change-up. I like this pick.
MrOldBoy, will you be making CAPs of any of the Cubs draft picks? If anyone finds some decent CAPs of these two on other rosters, or in the roster vault, please post the location (PSN, roster name, & upload date). Thanks.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
i use the hybrid roster 2.0 so my trades may differ. i was able to trade darwin barney to orioles for dylan bundy and mike wright... apparently they love his defense and base running lol. and then i traded Jeff Samardzija to the blue jays for aaron sanchez, drew hutchinson, and liam hendriks..
I am playing with iowa for now. and then after one year developing bryant, baez, soler, i will play with cubs calling all of them up.Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
I am looking in to doing a handful of CAPs from the Cubs draft:
P Jake Stinnett
C Mark Zagunis
P Carson Sands
P Dylan Cease
P James Norwood
Stinnett should be a good addition to the minors and Zagunis is already a plus to our Catcher needy farm system.
Sands, Cease, and Norwood all appear to be high upside players that have the potential to be 2015 first round picks. Hoping the Cubs can sign them all.
I am not going to put a timeline on when they will be complete, I got a lot going on right now, but really want these guys for my franchise.
Let me know if anyone finds any of these players in the roster/player vault and post the name and upload date so I can find it, I am already horrible at CAPs and would much rather someone else do the work.Comment

Dominos starting to fall for #Cubs #mlbdraft class. They sign LHP Carson Sands for $1.1M. Slot at 109 was $480,600. LHP has touched 95Comment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
Sort it by date and look at the April rosters. Download the ones that have a decently high like percentage and check them out. I haven't been on my Playstation in a while and won't be any time soon either. You are better off doing some digging on your own. Hope it helpsComment

Re: Cubs 2014 OSFM
So with the logjam of short stops on the Cubs roster, how do you think it is going to work out? I am personally hoping for a push to trade for Stanton from the Marlins, that maybe there is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, but who knows.
Russell will most probably remain at short stop due to his defensive abilities.
Baez could change to second or third, I am highly doubting third simply because of Bryant being a more natural fit there. I wouldn't be surprised if he got pushed to the corner outfield where his defense is less of a liability.
Alcantara has already started getting outfield reps, I expect him to just become a super utility player since he can play almost anything.
No idea what to do with Castro.
Another thing I am interested in is who the player to be named later is? Last year it was CJ Edwards and that turned out to be our big name we returned with. It is pretty clear Russell is the big name we got in this trade, but I suspect the PTBNL will be a significant pitching prospect.
Thought?Comment
