Construct a list of what each slider does
Can someone post what all the sliders mean and will do if you decrease or increase them. I know the game is new and it takes time to do but it would be nice for the people that don't know what they mean. Thanks in advance.Tags: None -
Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
I can tell you the contact slider is more of a power slider. Increase contact and the chances of the batter hitting the sweet spot on bat increases (which yields more doubles and HRs). The power slider is more of a contact slider. Lowering power causes more softly hit balls off the bat. -

I'm finding it really hard to get a feel for the batting sliders, I was trying out power at 8 and contact at 14. It worked well but I felt the non-power batters were at a disadvantage for hitting HRs. Now, I'm leaning towards having low contact and higher power whereas before I was thinking the opposite. It seems the power slider does affect distance. I read through most of the slider posts and most people seem to like contact very low and power higher, Are you guys getting a realistic number of HRs (both user and CPU) from power hitters and non-power hitters (guys that hit like 15-25 HRs)?Comment

Try these guys. For both human and cpu.
Pitch Count: Maxed
Pitch Speed: +2
Contact: 0
Arm Strength: -2
Arm Accuracy: -2
Errors: +3
CPU Agg Run: Maxed
Everything else at default. Also turn off hot/cold zones, strike zones, and all auto stuff.Highheat's O's Franchise

Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
contact is how sharply you hit the ball
power is how far the ball goes on average
atleast thats what i think it does. so far on default sliders i think there are too many sharply hit liners and too few homeruns, so if this holds true the contact should be knocked pretty far down and the power should be up a little.
Then again this brings the point, if the contact is down wouldnt you have less sharply hit balls and less oppourtunity for homeruns?
Or.... do homeruns work different, they almost seem like scriplted events MOST of the time with the cut scene. so do you really have to put a sharply hit ball in play or are homeruns purely determined and influenced by the power slider?Last edited by NoSkillz50; 03-06-2006, 01:33 AM.Comment

Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
ya its definetly not a truly scripted event, but it just seems like if you guess it right there might be a X% to hit a garenteed homerun. It seemed like this in MVP sometimes where a homerun would just be a really long fly ball, but other times it seemed like if you got it right it would scream right out of the park nomatter where it was hit, like over the far far right of the green monster. Maybe power changes the percent of homeruns and you can still hit homeruns even if the contact is really low, because contact seems to effect how many sharply hit balls you hit, which would seem to change how many homeruns you smash out of the park, because homeruns are always very solidly hit balls.
I guess what I'm saying is I wonder if power just effects the X% chance of getting a solid no doubter homerun where it switches to a cutscene and the fielder can't do anything.
I'm not even sure if it works that way, but it would seem to me if you get rid of most of the sharply hit balls you would have to turn the power up more than 2-3 notches to keep the homerun total stable, but everybody seems ok with power up 1-2 points regardless of the contact. So does anybody REALLY know just exactly what these two sliders actually do?Last edited by NoSkillz50; 03-06-2006, 02:49 AM.Comment

Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
I played about 3 or 4 full games with contact at 0 and power at 11 and I just wasn't seeing any doubles. A vast majority of the runs were scored by HRs. The only doubles I really saw were long fly balls to the warning track. When I was playing with power at 8 and contact at 14, I was seeing plenty of doubles on myside and on the CPU's side but not enough HRs. I'm just trying to find a nice balance. Right now I'm going to try contact at 5 and power at 9 and see how that works. And, by the way, I'm playing on HOF difficulty.Comment

Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
Oh snap i think i know what PITCH COUNT slider is all about, this slider is for the AI and how do they mix their pitches, i played 1 game with it full and noticed the pitcher threw like 75+ STRIKES and 1 BALL!. Then played another game with it off and i saw the AI throw like 65+ strikes and 20+ balls.Comment

Re: Construct a list of what each slider does
so you raise pitch counts and by lowering the slider? and they throw more balls too. maybe ill try it later and see what happens.Comment
