What is your goal when making sliders??

Are you trying to find more errors/less errors?? Are you looking for less HR's or more HR's?? Are you looking to give up more runs?? Are you looking to get less hits?? Just curious how the games are playing out for you guys and what you are trying to tweak. Right now games are playing great for me just moving the contact all the way to the left and power all the way to the left and just using the power swing button. I am getting less hits but when I do get hits they aren't ALWAYS weak singles. I am getting doubles and HR's. Right now through just 2 games I have 3 HR's with Ortiz which I think is going to be needing some tweaking. His player stats that is. Manny has one. I think I am going to have to mess with the Cover Boy's attributes. Think they might of been a little too fair with him. I don't think a .300 hitter should have contact as high as he does. I am going to play 10 games and I will post the stats and then we will see what really needs improvement. I would love to see others post here what they are trying to tweak and how it's going through how many games. You really have to play at least 10 games in a row and list the stats for those 10 games. Obviously the easiest way to do it is start a Franchise or Season and play the first 10 games and just copy the stats. I am going to do 10 games and 20 games. I will keep tweaking until I am happy with the stats I am getting. That's the beauty of baseball games coming out in early March.

Well 1st on the one attribute many disagree with me

Arm Strength - (14) meaning 4 clicks right from default

After playing default for about 25 games...I was seeing 4 things

    1- A great play by the SS behind 2nd base...mediocre runner...SAFE
2-routine play, mediocre speed players hits the ball, no double play, as he beats it out, without the guy going to 2nd even taking out the 2nd baseman
3-WAAAAAYYY too many triples on hard hit doubles off the wall with mediocre speed players...sorry that rarely happens
    4-No OF assists whatsoever...guys get 5 or 6 a year...yet p[lays not even close

Now, arm strength fixes that...but stealing would become impossible

    Arm Accuracy- 3

No enough to have every throw from the OF offline, or 3 errors a game from SS, but enough that they ball is not 'right on' by the C on a steal...unless you have a C with great arm accuracy (which I wish you could see when playing)

Last but not least...Pitch speed...my reflexes are no more, so I put that at 2...I can now pull the ball

Contact is at 5 and power at 12...so I am not hitting .350 with my good players, and I hit HRs IAW with their power rating

Re: What is your goal when making sliders??

Well so far in my season with the Red Sox with user contact and user power all the way to the left and just using power swing I have 4 HR's in 6 games with David Ortiz. I only have one with Ramirez. I am starting to think that I am really going to have to mess with the cover boy's attributes.

you use power and contac at 0??? really? wow.. i thoug with that it would be impossible to hit a HR with anyone..do you use guess picth? also do you have any HR with your other players? like Crisp, Gonzalez or Loretta?
another thing, and this is what i look for when making sliders...how are your box socres?? i mean R-H-E?? are the number of H close to the number of R?? or are you getting 12H 4R games?

also regarding Ortiz..i agee with you i lower his stats..specially his fielding ...hes not that good fielder..i would say hes below avarege.. and his contact i also lower it...did some tweks for D Lee too..in this game he was better than A-Rod and although i hat Rod, D lee is not better than he is... you should take a look at pujlos too...hes contact is maxed too... all those guys have better atributes than Bonds(aka nickname) ..

First off I am glad you ask me questions. I am glad I am not the only one here trying to tweak the stats to make them play the most realistic. Here's the deal:

Yes, I play with contact and power ALL the way to the left. Through 9 games played I have 4 hr's with Ortiz and he is batting like .465 or something crazy. It's almost impossible to go a game without getting a hit with him. I have 2 hr's with Manny which is very realistic. It seems like Ortiz's contact rating being so high is giving him more HR's then Manny because Ortiz doesn't have to hit it perfect for it to go out. Remember that contact ratings sometimes can play a role in HR's not just the power rating. I have yet to hit really anything close with anybody else. This is what makes me think maybe I should increase the power a little bit and knock off some contact ratings for ALL players and knock off just the power ratings for Ortiz and Manny because it seems like they are the only ones homering. I do not use guess pitch, I turned that off. I timed a change up with Youkilis PERFECTLY and hit it right on and it short-hopped the green monster so I definetley think I have to put the power a little higher but at the same time lower especially Ortiz's attributes. I play on HOF and my box scores vary. I usually get between 10-12 hits on average but sometimes if I face a tough pitcher like A.J Burnett or Halladay then I might only get between 4-7. Box scores seem pretty good though. Remember, all I use is power swing. I absolutley never use contact swing because I want everything to be the same. I don't believe in sometimes swinging for power and sometimes not. Also with contact swings I definetley get too many hits and with power as down as it is I think it's literally impossible to hit a HR with the contact swing. Maybe with Ortiz if I time it good. I played a Met's season with just contact swing and contact all the way to the left but power down 5 clicks and I hit 3 HR's with David Wright through like 15 games but only 1 with Beltran and 1 with Delgado. I was getting too many hits this way though and I couldn't hit ANYTHING for power with my weaker hitters so I found it unrealistic. I'll stay in touch on this message board until I get it right. I don't want to have crazy batting averages and 60 hr's when the season is over so I am going to keep tweaking. So far so good with the power numbers my new way but like I said Ortiz's attributes are definetley going to need to be lowered. This is definetley not perfect but I'm on to something.
