    contact sliders questions???

does anyone know exactly what the contact slider does?? I originally thought that it made it easier for you to make contact with the ball. But I still seem to have the same amount of k's with it maxed. To me it seems with the contact slider maxed you get more hits in the gap and harder hits. Can anyone confirm exactly what the contact sliders really does. I noticed most of you play with the slider below default. I play on Allstar and play with contact slider maxed. I find i creates more extra base hit. Yet, it does not create more hits in general thus not inflating hit totals. With this slider too low it doesn't allow for enough extra base hits. Does anyone else play with a maxed contact slider??

I'm with you. I find the con slider wether it's at default or zero seems to yield little change in # of hits and k's. What I do experience is that with con lowered, the user and CPU hit less "bullets" and more reasonable hits like seeing eye singles up the middle. I think contact doesn't make it harder to hit...you still make contact. It makes it harder to hit well. So, maxing out con will not lower your k's if you swing @ pitches out of the zone. It will make you pop up instead of hit line drives, hit grounders that the ss can get to instead of bullets up the middle. You have to make solid contact to get better hits. Try using the replay feature on hits you swear should have been doubles or HR's but were easy outs. You will see you may have swung a tad late or early. Then look at the replay to see pitches you hit really well and see the point of contact.

Bottom line is, no one knows what these sliders do. They can only advise based on their experience. If your striking out too much, what is it that causing you to k. Is it fastballs? change ups? balls outside the zone? My problem is the 95 mph fastball. So i'm lowering pitch speed and contact. I bet the number of hits do not increase but the k's go down. The quality of hits will be harder. So instead of striking out, I'll hit more grounders and pop fly's. Big deal!

Your right, contact just adds pop you bat. I played about 10 games on Contact at 0 & never had a HR hit with just pressing X though with Contact at Default I hit them once in a while!
