Re: Cowboy's MLB '06: The Show HoF Slider & Gameplay Settings

On a tip from another user on this board, I have User Contact/Power at 12/4, and CPU Contact/Power at 0/5 (Moving the power up one notch at a time until it feels right).

It really does a lot in terms of variety of hits...

Contact 12, Power 4? and contact 0 and power at 5 for AI?

I am basically looking for less hits YET still getting realistic scoring ending in realistic boxscores. Variety of hits is cool and all but i think a good realistic boxscore is better.

With these sliders, the CPU is hitting just fine. The CPU has at times really crushed my pitching. Possibly try raising CPU contact to 15 and see what happens. By any chance, do you have CPU power at 9? because the CPU just can't hit with power at 9 for some reason.

I've tried every suggested set of batting sliders (because I had a real tough time getting my hitting sliders feeling just right), including similar hitting sliders where power is set at 5. Yes, variety of hits increases and the game plays pretty well but there are very few hard hit balls per game, which causes few doubles and HRs - just not that realistic.

The thing this also does (for me) is create a more realistic Batter/Pitcher interaction. There are actually swing and misses now (something that is sorely missing with CPU Contact anywhere over 5) and the CPU batter seems more patient.

It has helped increase my pitch counts immensely, and I am willing to give up a few hard hit balls in return for a better experience in the box...

man - i have been getting some good scores, & balanced offense from both sides with these sliders.. started a franchise with the Halos, & currently 3 games in I am 1-2... i have lost by scores of 8-6, & 7-2 (only cause a RP gave up 4 runs in the 8th) & won the other by a 5-2 score.. hits have been reasonable too, getting 7-11 per game (only have 1 HR so far)...

Thanks for trying out my sliders, I'm glad you're getting the same good results that I've been getting. I use the power swing as my main swing until 2 strikes and I feel I get a nice realistic amount of HRs even with my low-power hitters. I like how the power swing is risk/reward but the contact swing is a bit too rewarding too often. With power at 10 or higher, my power hitters were able to hit HRs too frequently, even with lowered attributes.
