Need help with the HOF difficulty

First off, let me say that the Hall of Fame difficulty offers the most realistic interpretation of baseball that I have ever played. The computer plays a smart game and hitting is a blast. I have only one problem. I cannot for the life of me hit homeruns. I hit way, WAY too many singles. What do you guys think is my problem?

I'm able to make solid contact and I strike out a realistic number of time (3-8 times a game, depending on the opposing pitchers). I've tried everything. I tried flicking the right stick up and using the power swing. I've tried using only contact swings. I cannot seem to hit for any power. If I hear Rex Hudler use the spinach line again because I've hit too many singles, I'm gonna go crazy.

    Here are my settings:

    HOF difficulty

    CPU Pitch speed=5
    Human Contact=8
    Human Power=13

Input from the community would be helpful.

    Thanks.

With those contact and power settings, you should have no problem hitting HRs. Maybe you're just not quite timing the pitches properly. Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful but your settings should actually provide you with too many HRs.

On HOF, I've got pitch speed at 0, Human Contact at 14 and Power at 12, and I'm hitting plenty of homers.

But maybe the difference is that I use Guess Pitch, which leads to most of my homers when I guess both right in a good hitting zone.

In fact, I'm about to experiment with NOT using Guess Pitch, because I'm hitting too many homers!

I'm an old fart with slow reflexes, so please be kind! I know these aren't the most challenging settings, but at least I'm playing HOF.

Thanks for the help anyways fellas.

I swear to god, sometimes when I read this board, I wonder if I own the same game as the rest of you guys.

Some say that placing the human power rating at 8 for HOF level should produce homers. Some say Arm accuracy at 0 produces a realistic number of throwing errors. With those sliders, I'd hit 11 singles a game and have 7 throwing errors.

I guess you gotta hand it to SCEA. Nobody is experiencing the same thing twice.

Yo Sarge, I'm with ya man. I use the Reds, and I've got like 5 homers with Dunn and I'm at the point in my season where Interleague is starting.

I'm getting tired of the announcers saying, 8 hits and all singles, guess they didn't eat their wheaties.

Guess pitch doesn't help, the times I guess right I'm just as prone to hitting into a double play as I am getting a good hit.

example last night... Guess pitch, got the cross hairs flashing low and inside to Kearns. I get ready for for a power swing.... Timing it, swing, HARD grounder to short for the 6-4-3!

Yet when I switch to All-Star, I score like 20 runs a game or some rediculous amount

I'm with you on the throwing errors too! Get a routine grounder to short and I'm as likely to have a throwing error allowing the runner to score as I am to get a DP.

Not a game killer, but it is frustrating.

They come, dont go up to plate expecting HR let them come and just go out there to make contact. I dont even use Guess pitch or Power button and i get HR's normally by those who do them in real life.

I play HOF w/ everything pretty much at default and the pitch count slider maxed. I do pretty decently, but I can't seem to push enough runs across the plate. I recommend maybe moving the contact slider to 12 or 14, as I might do to see If I can extend the length of my at bats (I read on these boards that If you increase the contact slider you are able to foul off more pitches to stay alive). I also use King of the Diamond mode as batting practice - I just switch over to the other side b/t at-bats to keep hitting.
