Cowboy's MLB '06: The Show HoF Slider & Gameplay Settings

    HoF Gameplay Settings:

    Pitch Interface: Classic
    Batting View: Offset
    Umpire Consistency: Wide
    Hot Zones: Off
    Strike Zone: Off
    Guess Pitch: Off

    HoF Slider Settings:

Slider settings utilize the 20 point scale; all the way to the left is 0, 10 is default, and all the way to the right is 20.

    User Sliders:

    Pitch Speed: 10 or lower
    Contact: 4
    Power: 8
    Throwing Strength: 0
    Throwing Accuracy: 6
    Error Frequency: 13
    Injuries: 20/Max

    CPU Sliders:

    Pitch Speed: 10 or lower
    Contact: 10
    Power: 8
    Throwing Strength: 0
    Throwing Accuracy: 6
    Error Frequency: 13
    Pitch Count: 20

I recommend using the Knight165's starting pitcher edits, which are basically:

Stamina: Full for #1 & #2 pitchers, 2 clicks below max for #3 pitchers, 3 clicks below max for #4 pitchers, and 4 clicks below max for #5 pitchers.
Pitching Clutch: 20 clicks below max for all pitchers. If it's really to begin with, go 35 clicks below max.
Durability: 20 clicks below max for all pitchers.

Lastly, I recommend lowering the lowering the attributes of hitters who have full (or near full) contact power ratings. These players can hit in the very high .300s or low .400s with ease and hit too many HRs. Lower contact by 10-15 clicks and lower power by 5-10 clicks.

Hey Cowboy ( or anyone else ),
i see you have the cpu batting sliders at 10 for contact and 8 for power. do you get a realistic amount of strikeouts for those settings? to me, it seems like they swing at anything remotely around the plate. i do mix up pitches and locations but they just hammer the hell out of the ball. just looking for any type of help here.

I haven't played the game for months but I would get usually at least 6 strikeouts per game even with pitchers that aren't strikeout pitchers. The key to getting the CPU off-balance is changing speeds, high fastballs are the best strikeout pitch - just like in real life. If you get 2 strikes on a batter, throw one or two changeups, then a high fastball and it's almost a guaranteed strikeout. Sliders are also a good strikeout pitch but you do need to get used of throwing them using classic pitching.

okay so you use classic pitching. i went back to meter only because i was finding it easy to throw strikes. i don't know maybe its me. i will give it a shot. thanks man.

Use whatever pitching interface gives you better results. Just like all other pitching meters, I just got too good at The Show's pitching meter. Also, you'll barely walk anyone with the meter.
