Can I ask maybe a stupid question ? What is the difference between All Star gameplay and HOF gameplay ? As usually in games, if you increase/decrease the difficulty, the sliders adjust aswell but this doesn't seem the case with the show (PS3). I take it the game is more difficult on HOF but in which way if the sliders stay the same. Does the CPU cheat ?
I hope someone can fathome what i'm trying to get at.

awelsh--I do think the game gets more difficult on HOF default than All Star default, but I don't think the difference feels like the CPU is cheating. My sense from having played both modes a good bit (I currently play HOF wiht default sliders), and what I've noticed is this:
--Hitting is more difficult on HOF. Instead of being timing-based, you have to put the bat in the right spot in the zone. Pitchers seem to really attack cold zones on HOF, and the good ones are really good at mixing speeds and locations and adjusting to your tendencies (if you swing at all the first pitch fastballs, you'll quit getting them).
--Pitching can be more of a risk. Getting the big guns out is a chore, and if you use classic, it's not always a given that your guy will be "on."

That said, I have a nice variety of games, and it never feels like the CPU is programmed to get 11 hits and 2HR against me on HOF, which is how some other games feel on higher difficulty levels. HOF does take some getting used to, though, so I wouldn't expect a lot of great games from the user's perspective straight out of the gate.

No problem, man--I hope you enjoy the game! I'm getting ready to start one right now. I need a win bad, lol.

IMO HoF isnt that hard. With or without guess pitch I can win games.

Agreed. If you play the game right--get hitters counts, don't make bad pitches, play sound fundamentals, you can win games on HOF. If you make stupid mistakes, go up hacking, groove pitches, they you'll get rocked. Seems just right to me. Love this game!

It took me a year to calibrate MLB '06 to my liking, it can be a relentless task. Like already discussed, it's almost impossible to achieve completely realistic stats when playing every game yourself, or even simming for that matter. However, I've come up with a formula which leaves me pretty satisfied. I'll tinker with the sliders to get a realistic feel when I play, but I only manually play 1 game a week. I'll sim every 4 games or so, and check the stats across the league. If something looks rediculous, like Melky Cabrera has 10 Hr's in May, I'll lower his attributes and monitor him throughout the season. By keeping an eye on crazy things here and there, you can sort of "regulate" a realistic outcome.
