    for people playing default HOF

so guys, after almost 2 months with the game how are the stats with default sliders and HOF? are you producing realistic boxscorers? unfortantly i am "addicted" with slider edit..so i havent being patient enough to play that many games using default sliders to see what the game plays out of the box in long term basis...
so i would like to know your thoughts about the game after almost 2 months plkaying without slider changes.

It plays great BUT you will notice that you get a lot of higher box scores. I switched after about 10 games on default HOF and went to Nemesis sliders with a few tweaks. Games are much better this way IMO.

i agree..after paying about 2 weeks at default sliders on HOF i see way too high box scorers..and now, using nemesis sliders things have been a little better...what still bothers me is that seems very hard for the cpu to retire my batters without striking them out...most of the time they get the K or i get a hit...while in real life you see plenty of the oposite thing happen.. like pitchers getting only 4k in a full game or in 7, 8 innings, and only giving up 3 or 4 hits.. i just cant find sliders that will make the cpu ground and fly me out constantly, like i can do to their batters. only sliders that achive that was by lowering the player power...but that would just make impossible to hit HRs with non power players...

This has always been a flaw with the show for years, even though its not as bad now. You can mess with sliders all you want and it still wont altogether fix this problem, or atleast not for me. Its just the way the game is programmed, and IMO sliders cant fix it without breaking something else. Like you said, when you lower power it makes it a little too hard to hit homeruns with non power hitters. Its either a strike out or usually a hit.

          yeh...i agree with you 100%
ive been playing the show since MLB 06 in 2005...and i basically have the same issues this year.
i think the only solution is to accept what the game brings to the table...i wont have realisitc stats througout my season.. i just cant see a way to get my team hit under .300 and having a decent number of runs, HR and extra base hits.

for now ill stick to nemesis sliders with player 1 power at 9 instead of 10.
at least i wont have guys hitting .380 in my team(that because they will strike out contantly with plate awareness at 7).
i would really love to see way more balls put into play for outs.

Brunnoce--I've been playing at HOF default with classic pitching for a while, and have been doing so exclusively in my M's chise. I'm having a really nice variety of box scores, and I haven't found that the CPU only K's me or gives up a hit; I hit plenty of weak grounders, fly outs, and at-em balls. Through 15 games in this chise, I'm in the middle of the pack in most categories. The only things I'm really having trouble with are drawing walks and striking out computer batters. I'm at the bottom of the league in both. I've thought about upping the pitch count and lowering the CPU pitcher aggressiveness sliders--have you done this? And if you have, how have those adjustments worked?

well i found that by lowering the pitcher agressivness my walks increased a lot.
and as i play with the A's , this plays a big part in my game strategy.

The only way this game can get tweaked any better is by adding a few more key sliders and some major player editing. The latter I have no patience for what so ever.

DON'T up pitch count...you will rip your hair out tryin gto pitch if you use classic and OF view.

For striking out CPU hitters, Raise (or lower with PS3) the slider that states the CPU will swing at more balls out of the zone...then throw changeups low and outside...fastballs high and tight. Sliders starting in the zone then going outside. curves/splitters that drop out of the zone

walking...my best and eaisest tip...don't be afraid to look at Strike 3 if its were you don't want to hit it. Those sometimes turn into bad calls by the Ump...or they are 'just' outside the zone and you wind up going from 2-2 to a walk. Lowering pitch aggression helps somewhat...but they also nibble a lot more...making you swing at borderline pitches more...low pitch aggression is more for guys who hit too well

agreed man...i notice that aswell...with the pitch count slider high it becames very har dto strike the cpu out..seems they can make contact with every pitch i throw. with it at default i get more relaistic number of Ks.
also i find out that high pitch agressiviness slider will make me get less hits(which is good) as they will throw more junk at the plate, making me swing more at bad pitches that will problaby result in an out.
the dynamics in this game are quite strange...i was playin at HOF and winnig almost 80% of my games, not to mantion i would have more than 10 hits a game, which would make my team avr go higher than anything we can see in real life. yesterday i pop the game, started a new chise with the As, set it to VETERAN with my power at 9 contact at 3, plate awareness at 15, cpu power at 9, contat at 10 and pitch agressivness at 0..started to play without using the left analog stick(all of that with pitch speed at 0, which i like)..and dont know why or how, i just had 4 amazing games....

                    Oak 0-5-1
                    Sea 1-7-0

                    Oak 4-8-0
                    Sea 2-6-0

Oak 8-12-0 (i scored 8 runs by 9 hits in the 7th, so before that i had only 2 hits)
                    Sea 3-11-0

                    Oak 3-6-0
                    Lad 6-12-1

well iam 2-2 right now...and whats funny is that before playing at hof with default or other sliders set i have never had a game that i would get less than 8 hits! and now i already had 2. my avr is at a low .219, and at this pace idont see it getting unrealistic high like before. also its worth to mention that im only striking out from 4 to 7 times and getting about 2-4 walks a game...so the Ks are not the reason why my hits decreased...i also have 8 doubles, 1 triple and 4 HR so far, so my extrabase hits are in a good avr.

ill test some more and keep you guys informed.

Re: for people playing default HOF

well ive played most of my season on all star using a variety of slider sets and hitting and pitching techniques until i found a system that works TOO well. i think i must have restarted my chise after i foudn this out cause im as fo today in real life 80-27, i do use guess pitch but more as a patience aid than anything. sure it helps me get hits but if i didnt use it i would just whiff at everything that goes up there.

proof of this, is the fact that i played my son in a riverly game and i was doing nothing but striking out no less than 2 times every inning.. im now on HOF using Nemesis's sidlers but sitll winning almost every game. sure they are more realisitic box score wiese etc but i just cant seem to be stopped.

ive been toying with the idea of just going to default sliders on HOF to see how it goes to see if i lose more games this way, and i might have to cause im on pace to win over 130 games easy....

what i changed was i went from gussing all inside pitches to guessing just low pitches. i also changed my pitch system, i now just go around the wheel starting at triangle and going around. i also changed my break point for each pitch which has helped.

this always seems to happen to me in every baseball game ive ever played since high heat, ive been able to beat the system by figuring out a new hitting or ptiching system to either help me out at the plate or be able to shut down the computer every game... calll it a gift lol
