Has anyone played with zero sliders?

Thats is for the ones in gameplay not Global.

For example: all the players have attributes or caps for power, contact, vision, reaction, fielding, speed, etc.

Wouldn't the ideal way to play the game be to allow the actual caps of each player come into play and not influence play with sliders at all?

For example, if a pitcher has little movement on his changeup, wouldn't playing with the movement slider to zero reflect that his changeup is something you don't throw when behind in the count? Why boost it with movement slider? If he has little command of his fastball, why boost it with the command slider?

Player reaction. If a player is a poor fielder and has little reaction, why give him a boost with the fielder reaction slider?

If the CPU hitter has poor plate discipline why have the plate discipline slider up or down to add or deduct to his discipline. Shouldn't he chase a borderline pitch for strike 3 with this slider at zero?

If the answer turns out to be no, then the caps and attributes of each player has no bearing on the game which I find hard to believe. I will experiment to see how the game plays with most sliders at zero.

Just curious if anyone has done this. The problem is that I can no longer distinguish between playing with a good team or poor team.

You're assuming sliders at zero = sim ability. I would guess that sliders at half-way or 50% = sim, and that lowering sliders means you're altering the sim realism.

Really when it comes down to it you cant say this percentage or that percentage is sim. It all depends on the skill level of the individual. 50% may give realistic results for some, while 0% will give realistic results for others.

I kind of think if you really want to see what is realistic for a specific games engine, its probably best to watch the CPU play itself and see how it goes. When you throw the user's individual stick abilities into the picture, it pretty much throws everything else out the window.

I personally feel that 50% is usually a happy medium between being sim and user friendly, but thats not always the case.

        yeh..i agree with baa7...
the settings that wont produce any slider effect in the game would be the default (10) ..when you lower the sliders youre also lowering that specific ability for every player.
i am pretty sure you wont be able to hit any HR with non power hitters(guys that should be getting 5-10 hr a year) with power at 0.

Good point. That was my other intuition that I didn't discuss. The thing is that I've played with some of these sliders enough to start thinking some have little or no affect on gameplay anyway. The plate discipline slider doesn't seem to alter the CPU's approach to at bats that I can see.

Pitch movement at zero gave me the same 5-6 strikeouts I normally get vs. the cpu. I've been playing with command and contact at zero since day one. So I don't think sliders really matter as long as they are not extreme like contact at 20 and power at 20.

Plate awareness slider doesn't seem to give me any advantage on tough pitches that strike me out. So why bother anymore?

I guess I don't see much change in gameplay no matter what I do to fine tune.

Love the game anyway. Played 80 games so far and really enjoy it.

one slider that i feel alters my gameplay a lot is plate awareness, whenever i higher that up,my hit number, singles, start to pile up ! the game becomes much of a single, ground ball for double play, single , ground ball out... dunno why..maybe its just in my mind..but i could never get that high again...evan though i like the +12 pitch battles that happened often when i had it high.
