    Slider In-Depth: Human Pitch Movement

My #1 goal in setting pitching sliders is to make it challenging to throw strikes and spot the ball (I use Classic pitching to help with that). This will lead to walks, more deep counts, higher total pitch counts .. realism.

My #2 goal is to give up an accurate number of hits and types of hits.

How does the Human Pitch Movement slider play out in this regard?

I always assumed that turning it up (+10 or 20) would cause my pitches to 'move more,' making it harder for me to throw strikes. But does it also make it harder for the CPU to hit the ball? In other words, turning up the slider helps me achieve goal #1 (more walks), but works against goal #2 (realistic number of hits)? If so, maybe it's best just to leave it in the middle (default).

Or maybe the slider is MORE likely to affect one of these goals than the other? Maybe it's MORE about making it hard to throw strikes, so that would argue for raising it. Or maybe it's MORE about making it really hard for the CPU to hit, which would argue for keeping it lower, maybe all the way to -10?

In other words, I just totally GUESS with regard to this slider. Thoughts?

[My questions are general in nature. If you're interested in my current setup, I have my Pitch Command on -10. I play on HOF, with CPU Hit Quality currently at +10, Foul Ball percentage at -10 (still plenty of them) and the CPU Timing Window is at default.]

This slider is a double edged sword. If you use the meter it has to be maxed to get somewhat of a challenge. This year, the cpu has no skills what so ever at hitting and the increased movement is making them look foolish at the plate.

I really do not know what they did to the cpu offense this year, last year they were a beast!
I really hope this was not done to cater to a more casual fan base!

Rookie and Veteran should cater to the casual fan base, All-Star to the advanced casual fan, and Hall of Fame to the serious players.

Maybe it's not possible to program all those levels of difficulty into the game ...?

Anyhow, this year, sounds like I need to take Pitch Movement way down from +10. I had it up there to increase my Walks, but it is killing the CPU hitting. I'll keep adjusting my pitcher's Control attributes down to get more walks. That's the easiest way I've found to make it harder to throw strikes.

Re: Slider In-Depth: Human Pitch Movement

i recently set human movement to 0 out of 20 and not sure if its simply a coincidence or not but i'm seeing better cpu offence since making this change, need to play more games though, i pitch using classic with control at 0 and i'm still walking a lot of players so changing movement to 0 hasn't hurt that part of the game, i don't aim down the middle though i always aim to the outside edges of the strikezone with ball icon off and strikezone off.

You can start right here at the Show forums at O.S.
Almost to a man all you heard was that the CPU had too many hits.
Well guess what?....people got what they asked for.
Looks like I'll have to RAISE the contact and power attributes for the players this year instead of lowering them. I just hope there is enough room to do so...and that is the solution.

Re: Slider In-Depth: Human Pitch Movement

What about decreasing the 'control' attribute for User controlled pitchers and then decreasing the 'pitch movement' slider?
