Fielding Reaction Time
Im not sure if everyone knows this judging from the slider sets i see...but when u max out this fielding reaction slider it makes the fielders much slower to the ball...if this has already been discussed then u can lock the threadTags: None -

so the sliders backwards?#Simnation -
Re: Fielding Reaction Time
But I don't notice that much of a difference in the outfielders.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
agree with u now
actually it aint wrong..jsut people are understanding it wrong..
it says:
"move to the right to increase fielders reaction time"
that means they will have a larger reaction time = takes more time to get to the balls
so if u lower this they will react right of the bat.
im using -10 on allstar btw..wouldnt suggest it for HOF...u gonna have to deal with 3 ichiros in the CPU OF.---------------

Thanks for pointing this out. I hadn't taken the time to read it real clearly.Comment

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
read the slider carefully and u will understand...also i can CLEARY see the diference in game...
the slider says: to the right, i will increase the fielders reaction time: that means they u have more time to react! thus will be slower to get to the balls...
just play at HOF with -10 and u will cleary notice the diference..they will all have lighitng quick reactions.---------------

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
Hmmm, never thought of it this way, it may mean a tweak to the sliders...Comment

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
It's so tough to tell with the way some of these sliders are worded. When the slider states "move to the right to increase the fielders reaction time" that could me one of two things. Move to the right to increase the reaction time which makes the fielders react slower or move to the right to increase reaction time which makes the fielders react faster. It all depends on how reaction time is calculated in terms of an attribute. Is a lower reaction time attribute slower or faster?
I have fielder reaction time set low and I think it makes both the CPU/Human fielders react slower. I've tried it both ways and I feel that the CPU fielders move slower when this slider is set lower.Comment

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
Yeah, they need to have someone on the non-technical/programming side write the descriptions. Some of them are so confusing and ambiguous it is hard to tell what effect the slider has until you test it, and even then the difference isn't apparent enough.Ryan Spencer

Re: Fielding Reaction Time
Nope, you're still wrong. I had the slider to the left all the way, I hit a ground ball and the fielder didn't move until the ball was by him. Next game I moved the slider about half way up, I could barely get one through the infield. The farther right the slider is, the more difficult it is to get a ball through the infield.
ok, so i can only assume we have diferent versions of the game...cause in my game it works the other way around...ive tested this exaustly to get to my conclusion.
the most clear example for me is the pitcher fielding..with it at +20 they barely make any plays on balls hit to the CF...now with it at -10 i did see some nice playes by the pitchers already.---------------

I have fielder reaction time set low and I think it makes both the CPU/Human fielders react slower. I've tried it both ways and I feel that the CPU fielders move slower when this slider is set lower.
example:
More reaction time = 2sec. to react for instance.
less reaction time = 0.5sec to react...
I dont see why i would think this is a Atribute or Rating slider as this slider doesnt say anything about tuning REACTION RATING or ATRIBUTE , it only says u are tunning their reaction times.(more reaction time = slower to react/less reaction time = faster to react)
The sliders that deal with atributes are described with it, such as the CPU Pitch control slider where it says it lower pitchers BB/9 rating/attribute, meaning they will walk u more.
If the slider said it increases players reaction times atributes, i would agree with u, and it would be the other way around. but it doesnt say anything about this.
Also this "commum sense" about this slider beein the less u have the slower fielders will be, is problaby the reason why people are complaining about the lack of doubles and the super OF tracking everything...i was one of the first to try it at +10 and i was seeing a lot of x-base hits, but with that , the lousy IF plays also came into play..so i lower it to cut down my hits.Last edited by brunnoce; 04-11-2008, 02:00 PM.---------------
