yeah i find pitch speed at -10 to be harder than +10 because i'm fooled by offspeed stuff more.

Re: comfortable with pitch speed?
I have been messing around with these sliders since the game has been out and I can tell you that yes pitch speed affects the user, but I have also noticed the lower the pitch speed the more hit variety the cpu and human gets. Note this is test of off using the 1/6 guess pitch and with the API plus classic pitching and no meter. one last thing the talk about pitch speed effecting steals is totaly false just thought I would throw in that last comment.A Proud PS3 ConverterComment

I totally agree...the lower the pitch speed (I like it at 4) still seeing if I like 0 better then the more hit variety by both user and human.
At default or higher the pitch comes in so fast neither cpu or human can generate enough bat speed to hit it anywhere but up the middle.

Re: comfortable with pitch speed?
I think the hit variety is different because with a slower speed you have a chance to get around on a pitch or swing later and still get a piece of it.
I found with pitch speed higher, I was behind on most hits and not able to get around on pitches. That will definitely affect hit variety.

Re: comfortable with pitch speed?
As far as a strategy for clasic pitching, some will tap X through the pitcher's windup and some just keep the button pressed down during the windup.
Here is what I do for classic that works well:
Full motion
Keeping the X button pressed down, I let up at three different points of the pitcher's windup to determine velocity.
Soft velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher just starts his leg lift.
Medium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is at his max leg lift.
Maximum velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher finishes his leg lift and brings his leg towards the plate.
From the stretch
Soft velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is in mid lift of his motion.
Medium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher is in mid stride towards home.
Maxium velocity: Hold X and release when the pitcher has planted his foot towards home and is just starting to bring his arm forward to release the pitch.
Note: If you hold the X button through the entire pitcher's motion you will have max velocity and break but you will lose control and the ball will track away from your desired location.
Hope this helps!!“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: comfortable with pitch speed?
Classic pitching involves holding X during a pitcher's windup to determine velocity. There are no visual guides to determine velocity and many people like this aspect because it adds challenge to the pitching game. This setup allows for more walks to occur for the cpu because there is no way to really pinpoint your pitches.
