Looking for the HARDEST slider set

I really love this game but its now becoming too easy. I am more than 50 games in and I play with the Royals (franchise). It started off tough for me but now I average 13 hits per game. My team average is sitting at .326. I have 4-5 guys on my team hitting over .350. Joey Gathright leads the league in hits at 82. My team ERA is at 2.89. I have used a lot of slider sets on here including nemesis, highheat, skyboxer, pared. I use classic pitching. I've thrown a no-hitter with Gil Meche (this made me switch to classic was using meter) and a 1-hitter with Luke Hoechevar (rookie in minors). I had a perfect game with Zack Grienke last night going into the 7th and ended with a 2-hit shutout. I can also steal at will.

My record is 32-20. The reason I lost so much at the beginning was because I was trying to learn how to hit. I don't even mess with the analog sticks anymore and I absolutely trounce the CPU. Online is a different story. FAR more competitive games against a human opponent.

I use skyboxers slider set but I turn pitch slider to max. I turned up CPU hit quality way up. I turned user hit quality all the way down to zero. I've turned my power down a few notches. I have turned CPU patience up to max (was striking the CPU way too much).

I'm not hitting a lot of homeruns (near last) but I shouldn't be able to get this many hits.

For the most part I enjoy the game but it would sure be nice to get blown out for once.

I am not bragging. I want this to be more realistic. Does anyone have a harder slider set out there?

    Thanks.

Sorry, but I'm not understanding your reply. Is this a slider set or some kind of editing? Link please? Thanks.

I had been fiddling with some self-made sliders .... -10 on many things for Human, +10 on many things for CPU. I was having the same problem as you. Too easy to hit, too easy to pitch.

Problem is ... these sliders inter-relate and inter-act in ways we do not fully understand, and never will, IMHO. Moving sliders that much throws the game out of whack.

In that vein, keeping it simple ....

Brian (SCEA) suggested to me in a PM the following:
--edit down each of my pitcher's attributes 12 clicks for H/9, BB/9 and K/9 (this takes about 5 to 10 minutes).
--Play on HOF Default, except for CPU Hit Quality and Power at +4.
--Pitch from the batting view with the cursor on.

Brian said that this would actually be HARDER than the set I was playing with (which included -10 pitch control for me, +10 CPU Hit Quality, etc.).

That's it. The last part (batting view with cursor on) sounds counter-intuitive to make it harder to pitch, I know. But that's what the man said.

I tried it for a while, then ended up switching to the "Perfect" slider set and liking those. But the first game I tried this with, I gave up homers to the first two hitters!!

I offer it for your consideration.

This is a problem, I once tried baserunning speed set to 0 and throwing strength at 20 and that didn't even work. The one thing I have found that works (except for doing a mass attribute edit) is to press L2 when the CPU pitcher's front knee reaches its high point, that seems to give me realistic steals.

In the CPU pitch control thread (which I feel is the most informative slider thread, read it and you'll learn a lot), someone mentioned that lowering hit quality actually results in more singles and less extra base hits. Thus, lowering that slider results in more total hits. So, lowering player hit quality will result in more hits for you, and increasing CPU hit quality will result in less hits for the CPU.

Also, in that same thread, someone said that the plate vision slider is the true contact slider for us. Lowering it will result in more swings and misses. Also, lowering the timing window slider will help too.

Lowering pitch speed makes hitting harder too because the fastball speed stays the same but the off-speed stuff will be slower, which will result in it being harder to hit curves, changeups, etc.

Lastly, try turning off pitcher confidence. Once I did this, the CPU started hitting me better (especially my 3, 4, & 5 starters) for whatever reason.

Well, I guess I'll be the mean guy here.

You are in a forum of nothing but slider tweaks. Look around. Check em out for yourself. I mean, you are asking for something so concrete, but if you just gander at this forum you'll find that nothing is concrete.

I can tell you that my gameplay tweaks are the hardest. Nemesis will say his, HH his, Pared his, Sky his, etc..etc..etc..etc...

See where I am going with this?

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

do this, edit your position players CvL, CvR, PvL, PvR by ten clicks each. This is what i did, and i have got some realistic user stats. Theres a thread in the main forum titled, stats after 81 games. Ever since i adjusted my players by ten clicks, its a lil harder to hit. hope it helps

I've been thinking of doing this, only because I find that pitchers with dirty stuff *coughAJBurnettcough* are just unhittable if they have a good first inning with the curveball at full confidence. Also I think it will increase CPU walks.

I think that if you get off to a good start with your #1 and #2 pitchers they get really tough. I have gotten off to some bad starts with them and have gotten shelled. I think the pitcher confidence would definitely make a difference. Myself, I am not having the problem of the game being too easy right now since I haven't played enough games of 08 yet.

Just curious, for those of you that find the game too easy, do you turn pitch speed up to +10? Doesn't that make it harder for you to hit, or does it just make it unrealistic by not being able to pull the ball, etc.?

I don't really think turning off pitcher confidence makes the #1 and #2 starters that much easier to hit. However, the 3, 4, & 5 starters will have a much harder time pitching good games. Online, you can't turn off pitcher confidence, and I consistently throw very good games with Jason Marquis (I actually pitch better with him than Carlos Zambrano). Once you get that confidence up, all pitchers are tough to hit.

No, turning down pitch speed makes hitting harder. The lower the pitching speed, the greater the difference in speed between an off-speed pitch and a fastball. Test it for yourself, put pitch speed at 0 for an inning and then put pitch speed at 20. You think you'll get blown away by fastballs, but you won't because the fastball speed doesn't change.
