Slider Suggestions?
I was 11-16 on Legend hitting around .270 as a team but my ERA' s were way too high as the good teams were crushing my pitching. Tried restarting a season on HOF and it was stupid to say the least. My team avg was .476 after three games and I had over 20 hits in all 3 or them. I wish I could have HOF pitching and Legend hitting. Should I lower CPU contact and power on Legend? I've never adjusted my own sliders and I don't know how much I should adjust these bars.Last edited by jcern23; 03-08-2009, 03:03 PM.Tags: None -
Re: Slider Suggestions?
This might sound crazy stupid, but try veteran with my sliders. i know u play on legend, but if u played the gm with my gameplay settings and sliders to the Tee i think u might be satisfied with results. That means yes, auto fielding, and baserunning. always use API... everything needs to be set imo for them to work. Heres my final box scores of last 3gms played with them: I am Cleveland, playing in season mode...
CLE 1 5 0
DET 0 6 1
CLE 4 10 0
TOR 10 13 0
CLE 4 10 0
BOS 6 9 0 -
Re: Slider Suggestions?
Wow veteran that does sound crazy but I will probably give it a shot because as of right now I got nothing and I hate not playing. What level did you play on last year? I'm waiting to see if Nemesis has any options for me because he's the king of sliders and I think he might be in a similar situation.Comment

Plan B is to go to HOF and adjust both your hitting and pitching sliders to something you like. Drop human contact down to 0 and if you are still hitting too well you will have to find a way to make Legend work.Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
I think dropping to Veteran from Legend would be too extreme. If you are hitting good on Legend then maybe you should stay there since you are fine with your hitting (half the battle). I would suggest you simply reduce the cpu contact slider as well as the solid hit slider depending on how many HRs they are hitting. Try that first.

Yeh I think Im going to go back to Legend I just don't know how much I should reduce the CPU hitting sliders. I guess maybe I should try zeroing them out but this is funny cuz last year my problem was the exact opposite. I was trying to make the pitching harder. I even lowered all my pitchers attributes at one point to get the CPU to hit.Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
OK, on Legend I lowered CPU contact -3, Power -3, and Solid Contact -3. In a losing effort against the A's I struck out 9 with Sabathia and lost 3-2. I could care less about losing the game the main thing is they werent pounding me. One game is too small a sample but I think I have something going here.Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
I with you jcern with everything you have said! The cpu hitting in legend mode is ridiculous! And the most times Ive struck out the batter in a game was 3 by Joba against the Orioles!?! I mean come on now Ive played series against the Orioles and Royals and my best pitchers are getting clobbered. On the flip side the hitting is very good outside of Damon homering in the 1st three games. Im going to try your adjustments. I cant believe that no one else has recognized these problems? I mean everyone is saying how realistic it is but if I pitch CC Sabathia against the Orioles and Royals and had only 2 strikeouts between both starts there is definitely a problem.Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
Yeh man thanks because I was starting to think it was just me but I am starting to realize it can be fixed easy with a couple adjustments. Phoenixmgs gave me these sliders as he is having the same problem and I am using the first one. Yes it is adjustments for both you and the computer hitting but it works well. I just played 2 games I was The Rays against The Red Sox. I lost 5-1 and 5-4. My hitting was still realistic and theres was too. Strikeouts were back and happening when they should. If you don't have good results with the adjustments I made earlier try these.

Re: Slider Suggestions?
i dont know what to say? Im beginning to think this game actually really sucks!!!! I feel like im playing mlb 2k8 for real! Everything seems so scripted. I played two games against the royals both with CC again and by the 3rd inning in each game (with your sliders too) hes getting wrecked again. Its like as soon as the cpu gets a hitter on base the wheels start falling off! It really is 2k8 its sad! Its like the cpu cant just grind out one run in an inning but that it has to be some silly overblown run fest! Im actually considering returning this game! I see no realism in it whatsoever! I wish you the best with this game maybe its just me? I dont know I loved mlb 08 maybe ill just stick with that version? It was just yesterday that i was counting down the day for this game an its a dissappointment!Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
No, its not as bad as your making it out to be but yes the wheels can start spinning if your not careful. Are you letting Posada call the pitches? What pitch type are you using? I'm not questioning your skill because I have no clue how good you are but I'm guessing you know how to pitch very well and are frustrated as I was and still am. Taking it from there I would say you should lower the CPU hitting sliders all the way down and see what happens. I'm actually thinking about lowering it even more myself because even though I'm losing close to the good teams I think their hitting is still slightly too strong. I've pounded the Royals but for some reason I struggle with Sabathia too. The first time I ever used him I beat the Os 2-1 on Legend my first game ever on 09. He pitched all 9 innings and I struck out 6. After that he sucked pretty much every game. Like your saying 4th or 5th inning he would get rocked. Stick with it though bro I'm telling you this level has potential we just have to get the settings right.Last edited by jcern23; 03-09-2009, 10:40 PM.Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
I dont know if I keep trying Im bound to throw my controller through my sliding glass door window! I had to pick up an empty 2 liter plastic bottle to throw so I wouldnt smash my controller. Also in 3 save chances Rivera closed the games out but all of them were pop outs. I mean we arent talking about Todd Jones here its Rivera. And I wouldnt be so mad with the losing if it wasnt that everytime it was some crazy rally. I mean teams rally to win but hardly in every game and within one inning. Guess the only realism i will ever find for baseball is OOtp but im sick and tired of staring at a text based game. Or just giveup on baseball games altogether. K ive vented so Ill try CC again at KC and see what happens?Comment

Re: Slider Suggestions?
I guess there is the possibility that its scripted which is scary I just hope not. It would make sense since we all wanted a harder level and this could be there way of saying beat this. Although I have won at least 13 games now, I have stopped the big rallies at times, and now with these new sliders am seeing strikeouts and their hitting toned down a little as well so I have reason to believe this level will work for us. I wonder if were a little guilty of getting so frustrated we leave pitches a little more in the zone to keep their big innings going. It's gonna take time to see and yeh maybe a few 50 dollar controllers and glass sliders which could turn out to be one expensive PS3 game.Comment
