To all the SWING ONLY players out there

Anyone found a slider set that allows you to be able to foul off more pitches at the plate and make your AB's last longer ???

I'm sick of every starter attempting to go 9 innings against me and only throwing 90 pitches a game because I can't make enough contact to stay alive at the plate

FYI....I'm not looking for more hits and I still want to strike out my fair share of times.... I just want to be able to stay alive longer at the plate and make the pitcher have to throw more pitches an inning ?

There are so many sliders that involve batting that I'm not even sure where to start

Contact .... Fouls ...... Solid hits

Which one would it fall under ????

LOL I'd say start with the Fouls slider, no?

And if you were basing off my sliders, I'd say also increase timing. But a greater timing window means more poor contact (as well as more fouls in general), so lower Contact a notch, raise Solid Hits a notch, and work with the Foul slider to see what you can come up with.

I dont have the game in front of me but I would think raising the fouls slider would allow you to foul off more pitches. If that doesnt work then raise contact a tad and see if that helps but doing that might raise your batting averages too much since you wont only be fouling pitches off you will end up putting more balls in play as well. Solid hits, imo only, seems to increase or decrease the sweet spot on the bat depending on whether you raise or lower this slider.

I'm liking Trinity's for this purpose.

I'm not ready to post a full slider set but I am testing a couple of changes that provide more fouls for both teams. Here are the key changes:

          LEGEND LEVEL
          USER CONTACT: MAXIMUM
MLB players usually don't swing and miss pitches unless they are fooled. I don't generally move the left stick when batting so the maximum contact allows me to foul off more borderline pitches but still miss the one's that fool me.

          USER FOUL BALLS: MAXIMUM
Maxing out the foul ball slider not only creates more foul balls but also offsets the increased contact slider because it makes more well hit balls go just foul.

          CPU FOUL BALLS: MAXIMUM
Same as above. I feel like CPU hitting on legend level has too many hits that go "just fair". Maxing this slider creates longer at bats and also diminishes some of the CPU's hitting prowess. If you make a mistake the CPU still nails it, but good pitches are more often fouls than hits.

I'm just experimenting at this point but you may want to try it out.

so you're maxing out contact on legend? why not just play on all star or hof with the contact slider left at default?

What I'm really interested in knowing and I realize this is a rhetorical question but by maxing out foul ball or contact slider does that produce those double digit boxscores like past games or does the basic hitting system still require normal to perfect contact in order to get solid hits.

I recently lowered the contact slider and saw my strikeouts increase. My goal was to reflect a young Marlin team that will strikeout more often. However, I still get my 7-9 hits per game, HR's, doubles and score runs so if increasing the contact slider enables me to strikeout less but keep hits reasonable then SCEA has achieved quite a bit with sliders.

Most of my strikeouts are due to my stubborness to hit the "pitcher's" pitch thus I'm forced into many 2 strike counts.

I do draw more than average walks.

I raised the foul ball slider +1 but still incurr 9-10 k's with the Marlins. Using the same sliders I only incur 5-8k's with the Rangers. So alot had to do with player edits as well.

I might raise contact +1 and foul ball +1 and be selective but more aggressive at the same time. I sound like Yogi Berra

Also, the foul slider is a double edge sword. I find myself fouling into two strike counts as oppossed to hitting weak grounders for outs. So foul slider does lead to deeper counts but more k's for me.
