    Slider Observation

    After messing with the sliders for a while now, and actually reading the descriptions about what each one does I see a few things that should work together.......

    1. Contact and Pitcher Control need to be adjusted together. In the description of these it suggests if you raise or lower one you should do the same to compensate. I keep these both equal and it seems to be working out OK
    2. This is just an assumption on my part but I also think the solid hits and Fielder speed should go together too. If you're hitting solid liners against slow as molasses outfielders you're going to end up w/too many extra base hits.

    Any thoughts?

    If it works for you then more power to you, it seems rather simplistic though. In terms of Pitch Count and Contact being the same, this of course depends on the difficulty level, but it seems that pitchers are too accurate out of the box while my hitting isnt necessarily way too potent out of the box so changing them both doesnt sound like it does much other then dumb down my hitters and their pitchers with the final outcome being similar anyways.

    As to fielder speed and solid hits, same thing applies here. I have Fielder Speed at 0 and Solid Hits at default and this is because the fielders are far too fast in the outfield. In the end its personal preference but thats just my take on it.

      Re: Slider Observation

      After checking my sliders I have Contact for me and CPU at 4 and P Control at 2. I also have the strike slider at 0 but I may up that to 1 as I am seeing way too many 3-1, 3-2 counts.
      Also solid hits and fielder speed for me are both at 3 and I am getting fairly decent results with that. Still a few to many doubles for the CPU though. I just don't want my fielders too fast otherwise there aren't enough hits.
      I dunno, I feel like I am close to having things right where I like them but something just feels a hair off.
      I know many of my fellow tweakers feel the same.

        I feel the same as well, Im so close to perfection that not much needs to be changed from where Im at now. However, I play using swing only on offense so my sliders probably wouldnt work so well for guys who use the left stick not to mention Im so patient on offense that it sometimes causes me to take pitches right down the chute so for me they work perfectly fine but for others they might not.

          Re: Slider Observation

          Well, I finally realized that default all-star, with minor pitching and fielding adjustments works best for me.
          P Control=3
          P Consistency=3
          Strikes=0
          SP Stamina=6
          RP Stamina=0
          Throwing=3
          Fielder Speed and Reaction=3

          I finished my last 3 spring training games and game 1 of my season and these appear to be what I am looking for.
          I got a great variety with these and I am hoping they hold-up for as much of the season I can finish.

            Wow, this actually fits with my theory on the Pitching Control slider (that it has nothing to do with throwing strikes, but rather it has to do with where the strikes are thrown). I'm guessing my Consistency theory would be correct as well then, the same thing but about balls.

              Yeah you definately have something there.
              I think that if they are equal the pitcher has a slight advantage, which is why I have control slightly lower than contact. It's making for some pretty good games though. If I can be patient I can draw walks. I had 3 against the O's in the first game of the season, one with Cano who doesn't walk much anyways.
              The way I have these set now feels best. I don't feel cheated when I give up a hit or if I strike out.
              The game was 4-2 in the 7th when, with a runer on 2nd and 1 out, Brian Roberts smashed one down the 3B line. A-Roid dove, made the stop and threw him out. Next play Markakis slices a liner toward 3rd and A-Roid jumps and snags the liner. I added a few runs at the end and won 6-2 but the game felt much closer than the score. Very close throughout.
