Hmmm, i have to say im not seeing too many of these, only on severe breaking balls in the dirt which is realistic. Give it a little longer and if its still happening too much let me know.

This year is so different in the sense that the CPU will crush pitches left in the zone. It really makes you pitch to spots and moving your pitches around the plate to try and set up the hitters.
Makes the game so much better and very rewarding to know you got a hitter out on a pitch you actually wanted to throw and where you wanted to throw it.
Absolutely. In years past we could just pinpoint pitches so easily and have team ERA's below 3.

Thats gone and i love it.

Yup, it's a good thing. You don't want the ability to jam every batter with inside strikes etc.

But at the same time, you need to find the perfect balance because the CPU is more brutal than ever. Sliders arn't extreme either, so don't be scared that raising User Control to 7 (+2 from default) will make you into Pedro Martinez from his prime years.

Psycho, have you started season mode? I've been having difficulty once my season started.

Mostly my offense. The CPU feels like they pitch a lot better...I don't feel like my approach has changed, I just can't muster any offense. I'm around 0-7 right now and team batting average is .180 range. I haven't been able to draw ANY walks (whereas during exhibition I can get an easy 2 or 3 per game). They just don't seem like they're there anymore....maybe I'm just pressing and it's snowballing worse and worse, but I scored more than 3 runs just once so far..usually settling for 1 or 2 runs. I also only have 1 double so far, and I think 4 homeruns (all from one guy, Ludwick).

Everything was perfect from tweaking Exhibition games...great results.

But Season mode is overwhelming me...I just want to see how you are doing so I can rest assured I'm just in a rut and pressing. My pitching feels fine overall. I only got blown out once, but my ERA other than that is in the 4 range. I have been giving up a lot more singles though than Exhibition games. I give up around 12-15 hits per game, even when holding them to 3 runs or so.

I mean this in the nicest possible way (and i think its what you want to hear anyway), i think its you in a rut and pressing. Im 1-2 to start the season but thats me hitting poorly, i walked 6 times in the last game but couldnt get the big hit.

7 games out of 162 is obviously nothing.

Give it time and patience you will pick up

              p.s. jayD no, not yet.

I should have mentioned I am using Classic Pitching.

Like I said before I dont mind pitchers missing their spots, I like it that way, its real. But it is happeneing too much for me. 15% of my pitches go where I want it to, gets frustrating. Could just be the Pirates.

tree and tbarney, raise your control & consistency 1 up from where i have it if you need more control....but yeah, the Pirates dont help

tbarney, the issue with stealing home, sounds bizarre, ive never yet seen it once in all my games, ever, are you hitting a button by accident? I honestly dont know what to say to that one but i literally have never seen it so can guarantee its a game and not slider issue.
Well I'm gonna bump Control and Consistency up, I love the Buccos and I want to win some games, lol. So for my team I use I need some help. Thanks Psycho

Keep in mind tree your pitchers are going to have an off day once in a while.
My previous game using Pettitte vs TB he was hitting his spots all game. Gave up 0 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks in 7 innings. I don't even think any runner got to 2nd base.
My last game vs the Jays he was all over the place. Behind every hitter, 3 ball counts to almost everyone. Walked 4 and gave up 6 runs on 8 hits into the 5th.
I tend to pay attention to how high a pitcher's confidence is with his pitches. Use those early to get ahead and then try working in his less confident ones to build them up. Getting a few outs on your lower confidence pitches will get them up pretty quick.
                          Works well sometimes, sometimes not.

thanks for the help psycho and everyone else who responded. The CPU is the only one who straight steals home, so I have no clue what is going on. And it's just not a one time thing - they do it all the time. But, thanks for the help anyway!!!

I havent checked all the posts, but was wondering if anyone else is seeing to many BEAN balls by the CPU? Maybe things may level off but so far i have been plunked 13-14 times through 9 games. This is like 6 more then the rest of the league. I noticed this in my 14 game test seasons also.

I understand the game of baseball, I have been played, coached, and watched it for years. Thats why I love The SHow it's real, it has the slumps, the poor outings, etc. I have played 13 games with these sliders and have only had one good outing by a starteing pitcher. Im still having fun, Im just losing a lot and I have summed it up to my pitching. Like I said I think its the Pirates, I need a little help with them, thats all. thanks for the help though
