Massively, but as with everything else in Baseball....over time, trust me, stick with it.

Walks or lack of are as much the humans fault as any slider, i cant make you throw balls more often sadly.

I am bang in the middle of the league in walks earned averaging just over 3 a game, sometimes 6/7 walks, sometimes 0, but thats life, average of 3. Giving up walks im just under 3 a game, 24th in MLB, but nowhere near the bottom.

Sliders can only do so much.

I wish I could get those random occurrences, but with me it feels like everyone is Greg Maddux with pinpoint control. Even Derrick Turnbow paints the corners consistently. I mean I can throw balls on my own if I want, but there should be a difference between the control artists and the guys that just throw hard and don't know where it's going. If I dont hit the mark perfectly, the pitch shouldnt be perfect and it should be less forgiving for those with no control. Oh well, its a nice slider set otherwise. Thanks for your feedback.

Re: ***The 'Perfect' Slider Set*** MLB 09 - The Show

I think I've found my slider set after modifying these by putting pitch speed at 3 (had a hard time recognising pitches with the slider at 5) and lowering CPU pitch control by 1 (to draw more walks). I've finally started getting different scores, not just one run games, and different kinds of hits too. And I don't kill the ball as often as before. I used to get 14+ hits everytime, now I get something between 6-12. Sometimes the opposing pitcher gives me a hard time and I get only 3-5 hits a game.

Great sliders. Thanks a lot, Psycho!

these sliders are great. all I did was move the user contact to 5 and power to 7. I was having a hard time scoring runs. This has helped so much. There are games were I score 2 runs and then today I had 9 in Coors field and won 9-8. Last game I lost 5-2. Loving it now. Little better with the hitting with the higher slider.

Yeah, great sliders but I'm with the ones who've mentioned that I have pinpoint accuracy with any pitcher at just about any situation during a game. More randomness would be great.

Lower the Human Pitch Control & Consistency by one if you really want to, that should help, but to me as ive said before, i walk 3/4 people a game as i will try and get them out chasing balls, some they do, some they dont, but if you feel like you need more help throwing balls, try the above Mike.

I made some edits to your sliders Psycho.

For one I increased CPU and Human Starting Pitcher Stamina to +5 (or 10 or all the way to right). Pitchers are just plain dead after 80 pitches. No matter where their stamina is. I see pitchers like Edwin Jackson reach 125 pitches (in real life). If I got to that point it would be a home run fest. This way (with the slider all the way to the right) pitchers can last a long time.

In any case, great sliders! I've been using them for awhile and have been getting great great results!

The only thing I did to these sliders is move the contact up 1. now its great. i am 10-11 with the phillies. lidge is being lidge. blowing two saves in a row. i do realize the cpu gets very hard in the ninth but i enjoy it. there are some games i win or lose 2-1 then 8-7 or 10-0/ its great. with the contact at your level it was to hard for me to have more then two runs. great sliders otherwise.

Hey Psychobulk, great slider and I'm using it very happily.

I just had a quick question as I'm actually playing the franchise mode starting this year (from mlb the show 09)

                      here are my questions:

                      1. I've played about 20games so far in a franchise (first april) and I'm getting no BB's (i'm the last place at 19 and the second worst is 28, first place is at 60) but then again to compensate, my Strikeout is at 140 (i'm the 5th worst in the league, the last place being 155). But I feel that this is normal (avg 7)
So does this mean to you that it's pretty much normal? But most of the pitchers I faced, at the 3-2 count, they rarely threw balls.

I just want my BB's more often, so I was wondering if I can adjust the slider, which part of the slider do I need to adjust? (with my situation, how many clicks to the left or right with that slider?)

                      2. I'm also not giving up much walks to the CPU. I'm at the top in about 1.5 times less walks given than the 2nd team. for this, which slider should i need to adjust?

                      3. About Fielder speed, why did you make it +1 instead of +2? (default being +5). because I already got 9 triples (2nd place being 6 triples) and I thought that +2 sounded just about right than +1. What do you think? do you think that +2 would be inbalanced, a little bit too fast running for the fielders in defense? I'm wondering why did you set that up at +1.

I'll be greatly appreciated if you can help my with 3 questions. thanks so much

As i said last year, please dont open this thinking im so conceited i think i have found perfection or even close to it, i havent, however what i have done is create a set of sliders for All-Star (you can use them on other levels if you want but they have been made with All-Star in mind) that i believe gives me, and hopefully you, the greatest balance of gameplay we can currently find.

I have created a spreadsheet and included what i consider to be the premier slider sets in here, namely Blzers, rudyjulys, Skyboxers and DallasRocks. Ive put them against each other, averaged figures to a certain degree, tested each set seperately and now i have basically merged what i believe to be the "strongest" part of each set to create this "perfect" set. I also tried default for a while so i could measure the changes against the box, so to speak.

Im currently putting the finishing touches to them and testing so i should be able to get the sliders themselves out later work permitting.

                        Sit tight

Psychobulk... absolutely gr8 results... when I make a mistake the cpu jumps all over it... when they do, I capitalize as well... I am using these sliders on allstar, I never played the game on allstar. I have really enjoyed stepping my game up and finding that the games are more realistic.
Yesterday, I played opening day NYY vs Bal. Guthrie was dealing and a shutout thru 6, as I am still getting used to offspeed pitches( its like he knew cuz I was realy off balance). Meanwhile CC was pitching well but had 2 mistake pitches taken deep by mora and huff. A small rally got them a 3-0 lead going into the 6th. I got a walk with swisher, then a fielders choice, left melky on 1st with 1 out. Jeter singled melky to third. damon struck out. texeira singled jeter to third, melky home. With 2 outs now and men at the corners, 2 outs, arod launched a homer to cf. I was up 4-3 and threatened to add but didn't. I brought in bruney (who almost gave up the lead), coke, hughes for 2 outs in the 8th and mo closed it out in the bot 9th with the tying run on 2nd and roberts who was 3 for 4 striking out on a cutter away... whew... what a game.
All the thx to psycho, knight & company and ridin ( I took and avg of their ratings on their rosters)... I love this game.
Sorry if I rambled but no one else would get excited about my game except maybe some of you guys... thx again and for listen'
                        remember "bros before hos" lol

I just thought I would post and say how incredible these sliders are. I have fallen in love with this game all over again. I implemented these sliders on Friday, as I wanted to check them out. The game just played to unrealistic on regular sliders. So I wanted to give these a try to see if it would make the game more perfect, or the way it should play. IT DID, so thank you. I am one of those crazy people that plays every game. I play with both offenses, and for that, these sliders are dead perfect for offense. I am getting anywhere from 3-12 hits per game, and 0-9 runs per game. The games I have played this weekend feel so realistic. I think I might move the pitcher stamina up, but other than that these are perfect.

I'm in the middle of June, about to start a series with the Red Sox and these sliders continue to just produce great results. I was starting to wonder if things were going to easily as I had gotten up to 8 games over .500. Then out of nowhere I've hit a slump, my hitters just started hitting balls right at people when before they were finding holes. McCann (the best hitter on my team) has seen his average drop from .360 down to .320.

So I'm loving these, I know I can hit so I'm not worried about that. I just needed assurance that slumps would in fact come.

The only thing I really need to work on is drawing more walks because I'm next to last in walks. I've only drawn 119 on the year.

The way I draw walks is this. The first time through the order, I act like a normal MLB player would. I take several pitches until I get to 2 strikes the first time through. Unless of course I guess a pitch. Then I am mashing. I have really got great results. I probably get
1-4 walks per game, per team I play with.
