    Old Man Realism 2.0

    Difficulty: All-Star
Guess Pitch: Off OR No Feedback
    Fielding: Auto
    Base Running: Auto
    Throwing: Manual
    Pitching: Meter
API: ON (most of my K's come from shrug offs')
Check Swing Appeals: OFF (this is an important one for me as I tend to check swing quite a bit and having this off allows me to go deeper into counts)
    Strike Zone: ON
    Hot/Cold Zones: OFF
Camera: Catcher for both hitting and pitching (I just cant get used to the 'Pitcher view' although last year it helped with providing more realistic results. The CPU tended to chase sliders away and high fastballs moreso than with the catchers view)

**Note** All sliders are set from the far left (0-10). Also, bracketed numbers indicate alternative numbers that I think might work.

    GLOBAL

    Pitch Speed: 3
    Fielding Errors: 5
    Throwing Errors: 5
    Fielder Run Speed: 2
    Fielder Reaction: 2
    Arm Strength: 4
    Base Runner Speed: 5 (4)
    Steal Ability: 4
    Steal Frequency: 5
    Wind: 6 (5)
    Injury Frequency: 6 (7)

    USER

    Contact: 3
    Power: 6 (5)
    Timing: 3
    Fouls: 7
    Solid Hits: 5
    Starter Stamina: 5
    Reliever Stamina: 0
    Control: 6
    Consistency: 6

    **Notes for User**

*If you're fairly good at aiming the left-stick then I highly recommend using 5 or lower for power, timing and contact.

*I might just suck at pitching but I've found that control & consistency need to be at 6 in order to get strikeouts. 6&6 however, has not made my pitching too dominant in terms of allowing hits and homers.

    CPU

    Contact: 2
    Power: 7 (5)
    Timing: 1
    Fouls: 1
    Solid Hits: 5
    Starter Stamina: 5
    Reliever Stamina: 0
    Control: 5
    Consistency: 4
    Strike Frequency: 0
    Manager Hook: 6

    **Notes for CPU**

*I'm having a hard time finding a decent balance between CPU hits and K's. It almost seems as if theyre intertwined somehow; where more hits=more strikeouts and less hits=less strikeouts

*Most of my strikeouts come from throwing something off-speed on 2-strike counts. The API calls for too many fastballs.

*Walks are up to you. If I decide to throw what the API has suggested then I tend to aim slightly outside the corners. It might even make sense to play with API off. Work in progress.

    **Additional Notes**

*Take the first pitch. Guess a pitch (in your head) and only swing if you see it. The same thing applies to any hitters-count (3-1, 2-1, 1-0, 2-0) except for 3-0 as I always take unless I have runners in scoring position (and even then it needs to be a power hitter at-bat)

*I tend to use a 'timing only' approach to hitting. The only time I'll aim the left-stick is when I'm guessing in a hitters count.

*These sliders are most likely unsuitable for anyone who considers themselves a great to elite player. They work for me because I'm getting older and have troubles picking up the ball out of the pitchers hand. I also sit around 8 feet back from my TV.

*I've played about 15 games with these and have found the stats to be fairly realistic. I'm sure that once I get my timing down that I'll need to tweak the USER hitting but other than that I'm happy. Give them a try and let me know how you make out. The more feedback I get, the better.

*Available for download via Sports Connect (Old Man Realism 2.0)
    Thanks

liked yours last year but hits and K problem has to do with timing ! please read phoenixs thread on this

I already have CPU timing at 0 though.

I wonder if pitch speed actually does affect the CPU's contact rate even though SCEA implies that it doesnt.

Either way, I am getting decent strikeout numbers now. I just have to remember to aim a lil further outside on 2 strike counts. I actually got lit up by the Royals for 14 hits last game (Porcello on the mound). It seems that when the CPU decides it is going to have a big inning, there is no way to stop it.

        Changes:

        *Switched to meter pitching

        *lowered the following 1 notch:

Contact (user and cpu), user timing, cpu solid hits, user pitch consistency.

Keep in mind that my lineup is fairly stacked so my hit totals should be consistently high. (Rios, created catcher comparable to V-Mart, Hanley, Howard, Snider, Rolen, Inglett, Maybin, A. Hill)

        Boxscore (10 innings)

        Matchup: Halladay (7 K's, 5 H, 1 BB, 8 IP) vs. Davies (6 K's, 5 H, 2 BB, 4.2 IP)

        Toronto: 6 (14 hits, 3 doubles, 1 HR, 4 BB)
        KC: 2 (7 hits, 1 double, 1 BB)

It was a good game until KC decided to use 7 pitchers before bringing in Soria with 1 out in the 8th. I tied the game with a single (1 out, runner on 3rd) in the 8th and sealed it in the 10th (Soria was still in serving meatballs by this point) with an RBI double and a 3 R HR by Rolen. 5 hits and 1 BB in the 10th. Take that away from the final boxscore and I wouldve had 9 hits and 3 BB which is pretty much bang-on.

I am definitely troubled by the bullpen management of the cpu though. Is 7 too high for the management hook? It's the first game I've seen the CPU use 8 pitchers and 3 pitchers in 1 inning (7th inning..3 right-handers and it was a 1-2-3 inning).

Anyways, I'll keep on playing and posting boxscores. Updates are in the OP.

P.S. Can I edit the sliders I've already submitted to the SportsConnect Vault? Or do I have to upload another set with a different name?

did you upload the newest version?
When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself.

Version 2 is on SportsConnect but it is not the set I'm using. I've made a few changes (most importantly pitch speed, which is now at 3 and errors are back to default) but cant quite remember what they all are. It seems I am changing something daily especially after increasing pitch speed. It really does affect CPU K's, hits and power, even though SCEA says it doesnt. When I get a chance to get on my PS3 I'll upload them as version 3.

Good to see some interest though. The more people playing them/giving feedback, the easier it is for me to tweak.

                Re: Old Man Realism 2.0

                Ok, all up-to-date.

One thing I've noticed is that the CPU K's might be happening a bit too often with timing/fouls at 1. Its hard to gauge for me though because I have a dominant pitching staff. It'd help if SCEA hadnt taken out the 'swing frequency' slider. CPU is swinging at wayyy too many 1st pitch strikes.
