    just wondering

i've tried at least 6 or 7 slider sets and i can't seem to find one that i can pitch on. hitting is not a problem for me, in fact i have to tone that down. even if i lower cpu contact, power, timing, and solid hits to zero(yes, it doesn't matter what level i'm on) from the 6th inning i am terrible. i'm not going to complain about the cpu players becoming supermen from then on, but i can't manage my pitchers well enough at this point. anyway, i've actually started playing my half inning and simming the pitched half(yeah, i'm that bad!!!!!!!!). i was just wondering if anyone else has done this, or am i the only one. any input would be appreciated. p.s. i have the ps2 version

I know this sounds like it won't work but have you tried lowering pitch speed? I lowered it one notch from default to help myself get more doubles, to allow my swings to have more varied timing; I was hitting the ball well but barely ever got the timing right on the pitch to hit the ball in the gaps. Anyways, it solved my doubles problem and solved the CPU hitting the ball ridiculously hard. I posted my theory on the whole thing in my slider topic.

i have tried pitch speed all the way to the left and i still encountered the same problems. i have even tried raising user pitch control and consistency to 9/9 to eliminate pitches floating into hot zones, because the cpu seems to hit the cold zone pitches just fine in the later innings. even on rookie believe it or not. but then i don't walk anyone. although it seems walks are a no-no if you want your pitcher confidence to stay up. i give sliders a good 6 to 10 games, but after blowing every save opportunity during that stretch i give up. i blow 4 straight saves with mariano rivera, just doesn't seem right so i start over. oh well, thanks for giving your input though, and i did read your post. thxs

Ya know i was and still do sometimes have the same problems in later innings, but lately since i have played SO many games (over 100 played by now, none simmed) I have gotten a lot better at pitching, you really have to bear down from the 6th inning on, and the pitches are there to make them miss... fast balls on the outside corner (and i mean the black of the plate) Try throwing sliders more (but don't try to hit the mark on the meter when throwing the slider) when i throw sliders i start it middle of the plate/in and then on the meter i release it way before it gets to the line for the release point and then the slider will do what it's intended to do. i also do the same thing w/ the 1-2 curve and change up and always mix up speed on pitches. I think a lot of guys that use the meter just automatically let it go all the way to 100% and then try to hit the release point (im not accusing you of this but i'm sure a lot of people do) Experiment w/ the release point on your pitches, i think the line is just there as a guide...also you can edit your pitcher's fastball to a running fastball in "edit player" and i have found that i strike guys out more w/ this pitch, but it took a while for me to master
