Re: TNKNGM MLB10 All-Star Realism Sliders

Beckett's two good starts for me has his yellow confidence meter showing up pretty early on in the game.

Have you noticed when his confidence is good, and you have that extra spot on the pitch meter, how ridiculously gnarly his curveball is? Wow! I get a guy 0-2 or 1-2, and if that 2-seamer does not freeze him at the plate moving back across the black, that curve ball is just flat out filthy...

Yeah, i guess you're right, unless you're the brewers...they either score 20 or have 20 scored on them...LOL, also the Braves (who i play w/) last year had a lot of 12+ run games, very inconsistent though...also i'm wondering does anyone have a way to give yourself an advantage for home games?? i'm actually thinking of using veteran pitching @ home, and all-star pitching for road games, or maybe veteran hitting at home can't decide...

        Game #31 of the Season

        NY Yankees(CPU) 3 @ Boston(ME) 5

Solo HR's by Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury had this game tied 1-1 in the 6th inning when David Ortiz crushed a 3-run HR over the bullpens to make it a 4-1 game. Adrian Beltre was the next batter and he unloaded on a ball for his first HR since game #3 of the season to make it 5-1. The Yankees got a 2-run HR for Derek Jeter off Manny Delcarmen in the 8th to cut Boston's lead to 5-3. Jonathan Papelbon almost blew the save as the Yankees got a couple hits and Papelbon walked Jeter to load the bases with 2 outs for Nick Johnson but Papelbon was able to get Johnson to ground out to end the game.

The Red Sox are now 18-13 on the season

I think what I will do in the future is put the stats in a spreadsheet and then just add the spreadsheet as an attachment.

I wish OS would add a feature where you can use a spreadsheet format for your post or atleast allow us to copy/paste a spreadsheet into a post.

Everything looks decent except for walks and that not your sliders thats meter pitching, i think you will find if you use classic the walks will be more in line with actual Sox stats. Great stuff TNKNGM

                  Game #32 of the Season

                  NY Yankees(CPU) 1 @ Boston(ME) 2

Jon Lester was just a bit better than Phil Hughes as they went toe to toe in a good pitchers duel. The Yankees had a 1-0 lead in the 6th when Mike Lowell hit a 20run single with the bases loaded and 2 outs to give Boston a 2-1 lead. The Boston bullpen was excellent and Jonathan Papelbon pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for his 11th save of the season.

The Red Sox are now 19-13 on the season

While waiting for the patch to fix the patch - I am updating equipment for as many players as I can get to. I'm going team by team using the rosters forum on here and pictures from recent games.

I figure I can pass the time while waiting for the patch by doing this and increasing the realism ofr me once i can resume.

                      Game #33 of the Season

                      Toronto(CPU) 2 @ Boston(ME) 6

Brandon Morrow got the start for Toronto and was awful right from the start. He walked Ellsbury, Scutaro and Martinez to load the bases to start the game, Kevin Youkilis was up next and he promptly crushed a hanging breaking ball into the CF bleachers for a grand slam to make it 4-0 right away. Morrow gave up 5 runs in the first inning and had to throw 52 pitches before he finally escaped the inning after the Red Sox batted around. Jon Lackey was excellent striking out 10 Blue Jays in 7+ innings. The Blue Jays got to Joe Nelson w/ 2 outs in the 9th inning to cut Boston's lead to 6-4. Jonathan Papelbon came in to strike out Randy Ruiz who was pinch hitting to end the game.

                            Game #36 of the Season

                            Boston(ME) 1 @ Detroit(CPU) 3

Rick Porcello held the Red Sox to 1 run over 6 innings. The Red Sox had plenty of chances and threatened often but just could not get the big hit. Clay Buchholz gave the Red Sox 6 pretty good innings. The Tigers took a 3-1 lead into the 9th inning and brought in Jose Valverde to try and close it out. The Red Sox were able to get the tying run on base but Valverde struck Victor Martinez to end the game.

Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 12 games

The Red Sox are now 20-16 on the season

Definitely not enough runs scored per game in your played game (9.6 combined RPG MLB average).

The reason is clear, you lowered batting contact to 3, and zeroed out solid hits ...; removing the teeth of the offense, while leaving the pitching sliders at the default level. Given how drastic the pitching confidence slider trumps everything else, you're basically giving pitchers 3 big advanatages.

Either lower pitching control or restore the con and sh to default levels, or you'll continue to see games that are (on average) far too low scoring ... especially given the powerhouse division and hitter friendly park you play in.

Your pitcher's ERAs are far too low and you have one guy that's barely on pace for 100 steaks (rib-eyes, Ribbies, RBIs).

My team got off to an abysmal start offensively. I have actually raised the batting sliders to.

                                Human Contact = 5
                                Human Power = 6

                                CPU Contact = 4
                                CPU Power = 6

lately the scores have been better and I have seen more offense. I'm actually happy with the variety and balance of these sliders. I will post updated stats around the 50 game mark and we can see the difference the modification have made.
