    Game #95 of the Season

    Boston(ME) 7 @ Oakland(CPU) 3

The Red Sox got RBI hits from Victor Martinez, David Ortiz and Jason Varitek early in the game and led 3-0 after 3 innings. Javk Cust hit a solo HR off the foul pole in the 4th for Oakland to make it 3-1. Adrian Beltre crushed a solo HR to make it 4-1 in the 5th inning. Boston would blow it open in the 7th on an RBI double by Dustin Pedroia who remains red hot. JD Drew hit a solo HR in the 8th to increase Bostons lead to 7-1. The A's loaded the bases with 1 out in the 8th inning but were only able to push across 1 run to make it a 7-2 game. Oakland got another run in the 9th but that was as close as they would get.

The Red Sox are now 54-41 on the season and are headed to Seattle for a 4 game set with the Mariners

      Game #96 of the Season

      Boston(ME) 7 @ Seattle(CPU) 4 (10 Innings)

The Red Sox and Mariners played a great game to open up their 4 game series. Kevin Youkilis hit an RBI single in the first inning and a 2-run HR in the 3rd inning to give the Red Sox a 3-0 lead. The Mariners would get an RBI single from Ichiro in the bottom of the 3rd to make it a 3-1 game. Josh Bard would pickup 2 RBI's on a single w/ 2 outs in the 5th to tie the game 3-3. The Mariners had a chance in the 7th with runners on the corners and 1 out but Daniel Bard came in and got Josh Bard to hit into the 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. Both bullpens did a good job in the late innings to send the game to extra innings. Jacoby Ellsbury led off the 10th inning with a double down the RF line and it looked like he might get stranded after Pedroia sturck out and Martinez flew out to LF. Kevin Youkilis was up next and picked up his 4th hit and 4th RBI of the game when he hit a groundball into RF and Ellsbury just beat Ichiro's throw to homeplate to give Boston the 4-3 lead. Boston would add to the lead as David Ortiz would single and Adrian Beltre would hit a 3-run HR and suddenly it was a 7-3 Red Sox lead. The Mariners would get a run off of Papelbon in the bottom of the 10th but Papelbon would settle down and close it out.

The Red Sox are now 55-41 on the season and have won 5 games in a row

I just have a quick question for you... Do you make the everyday real life transactions for teams across the majors?
Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin Badgers

I make the significant moves......I don't do every single transaction.

Before I play a series against a team - I look at their roster and try to make them as current as possible. I don't create injuries according to real life and I don't make every single callup. I do the big prospects like Strasburg, Carlos Santana, Pedro Alvarez, Jose Tabata, etc.

If 2 CPU teams make a trade - I will let it go through as long as it isn't anybody who is significant.

This week I will be making pretty much every move leading up to and including the trading deadline. I'm currently 1 day behind the real life schedule so I will play 1 game per day until the deadline and then after the deadline I will start cranking through my games to finish out the season.

            Game #97 of the Season

            Boston(ME) 6 @ Seattle(CPU) 1

The Red Sox scored 4 times in the first 3 innings against Felix Hernandez to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Victor Martinez had an RBI single and an RBI double while Dustin Pedroia continued his recent hot stretch with an RBI single of his own. Josh Beckett had great stuff and was dominating as the Red Sox held a 4-0 lead through 7 innings. David Ortiz hit a solo HR in the top of the 8th to make it 5-0 Boston. The Mariners finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 8th and it was 5-1 heading into the 9th inning. JD Drew would add a solo HR to make it 6-1.

I'm too tired to do a full write up. The Red Sox led 3-1 in the 8th and Hideki Okajima gave upa 2-run HR to Milton Bradley to tie the game. Dustin Pedroia hit a solo HR in the top of the 12th to give Boston the 4-3 lead.

                Game #99 of the Season

                Boston(ME) 1 @ Seattle(CPU) 2 (12 Innings)

The Red Sox entered the game looking to complete the 4 game sweep of the Mariners and move to 7-0 on their 10 game road trip. Boston took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo HR by the red hot Dustin Pedroia. Daisuke Matsuzaka was damn near unhittable over the first 5 innings. Seattle finally got on the board in the bottom of the 6th when Ichiro Suzuki doubled and came in to score on a Chone Figgins RBI single to tie the score at 1-1. The teams would remain locked in a 1-1 tie entering the 9th inning and the game would end up going to extra innings for the second straight day. Mike Cameron would lead off the top of the 10th with a double into the RF corner. Jacoby Ellsbury would pinch hit for Bill Hall to lay down a sac bunt to move Cameron over to 3rd and Ellsbury would end up beating the throw at first to give the Sox runners at the corners with nobody out. Ryan Feierabend pitched out of the jam as Jed Lowrie and Darnell MacDonald would both pop up to the infield and Dustin Pedroia would strike out after battling through a 10 pitch at bat. Scott Atchison gave the Red Sox 3 good innings out of the pen as the game went to the 11th inning still tied. Boston almost took the lead in the 11th when Adrian Beltre lined a 2 out double into the gap and Victor Martinez was thrown out at the plate to end the inning on a great relay throw from Figgins. The Mariners would blow a golden opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the 11th as Ichiro would lead off the with a double and Chone Figgins would bunt him over to 3rd. Daniel Bard intentionally walked Branyan and Bradley to load the bases for Casey Kotchman with 1 out and Bard would strike out Kotchman and then get Jose Lopez to ground out to end the inning and keep the game alive. The Mariners would load the bases with 2 outs in the bottom of the 12th inning and Terry Francona would bring in Jonathan Papelbon to face Russell Branyan with the game on the line. Branyan would hit a groundball up the middle and Jed Lowrie would make a diving stop but his flip to second base to force the runner was just late and the Mariners would get the 2-1 victory - WHAT A GAME!!

David Ortiz has a 17 game hitting streak

Darnell MacDonald has been sent down to AAA Pawtucket
Eric Patterson has been called up from AAA Pawtucket

                  Game #100 of the Season

                  Boston(ME) 5 @ LA Angels(CPU) 3

Boston grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 3rd on a Jacoby Ellsbury RBI single. The Angels would tie it in the bottom of the 3rd on an Erick Aybar RBI single. The Red Sox would score twice in the 4th on an RBI single by JD Drew and an RBI sac fly by Bill Hall to take a 3-1 lead. Kendry Morales would hit an RBI double to make it 3-2. Clay Buchholz would have to leave the game in the 5th due to injury but Tim Wakefield would come to the rescue and get his team into the 7th with the lead. The Red Sox would get an RBI single by Jed Lowrie and an RBI sac fly by Kevin Youkilis to make it 5-2 after 8 innings. Jonathan Papelon got 2 quick outs in the 9th before Brandon Wood hit a solo HR to LF to make it 5-3. Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar followed with singles and suddenly the Angels had the winning run coming up in the person of Bobby Abreu. Papelbon and Abreu would go through an 8 pitch battle with Papelbon finally getting Abreu to strike out swinging on a nasty 96mph fastball on the outside corner. Dan Haren made his first start in an Angel uniform and was a victim of horrible defense as the Angels made 4 errors in the field.

David Ortiz has extended his hitting streak to 18 games

Clay Buchholz will only be out a couple days with an inflamed nerve

                    Game #101 of the Season

                    Boston(ME) 7 @ LA Angels(CPU) 9

This was an awesome game that went back and forth. The Red Sox grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd on a 2-run HR to CF by Adrian Beltre. Mike Napoli blasted a 2-run HR in the bottom of the inning to make it a 2-2 game. The game would remain 2-2 into the 5th inning until Dustin Pedroia’s RBI single made it 3-2 Boston. The Red Sox would score 3 more in the top of the 6th inning on a Jeremy Hermida RBI single and a Jason Varitek 2-run HR to make it 6-2. The Angels would explode for 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game with RBI hits from Kendry Morales, Juan Rivera and Napoli. Juan Rivera would deliver an RBI single in the 7th to give the Angels a 7-6 lead. Boston would tie it back up 7-7 in the top of the 8th on an RBI single by Jason Varitek. The Angels would take a 9-7 lead in the bottom of the 8th on a 2-run HR by Erick Aybar off of Hideki Okajima. Brian Fuentes pitched the 9th for the Angels to record the save.

David Ortiz has extended his hitting streak to 19 games

                      Game #102 of the Season

                      Boston(ME) 4 @ LA Angels(CPU) 7

The game was scoreless through 3 innings before Jeremy Hermida got the scoring started with a 2-run HR to CF to give Boston a 2-0 lead. Adrian Beltre would hit a solo HR in the top of the 6th to make it a 3-0 game. Joel Pineiro had to leave the game in the 5th inning due to injury for the Angels. The Angels finally got on the scoreboard and knocked Josh Beckett out of the game in the 7th inning on an RBI double by Bobby Abreu. Scott Atchison came on to relieve Beckett and promtply served up a 2-run HR to Juan Rivera and all of a sudden the game was tied 3-3. Daniel Bard relieved Atchison and issued a walk and then alloweda 2-run go ahead single to Maicer Izturis to complete the bullpen collapse and cost Beckett his 13th victory as the Angels took a 5-3 lead after 7 innings. David Ortiz hit a solo HR in the top of the 8th to make cut the Angles lead to 5-4. Jonathan Papelbon was unable to keep the deficit to 1 run in the bottom of the 8th as Kendry Morales made it 6-4 with a sac fly and Hideki Matsui hit an RBI single to make it 7-4 Angels heading into the 9th inning. Brian Fuentes would pitch the 9th and close it out to pickup the save.

David Ortiz has extended his hitting streak to 20 games
Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 15 games

The Red Sox are now 58-44 on the season after going 7-3 on their 10 game road trip which has to be considered a success. However, the bullpen was shaky and ultimately cost the Sox a couple of victories. The trading deadlin is approaching and the Red Sox will be in the market for some bullpen help.

                        Game #103 of the Season

                        Detroit(CPU) 1 @ Boston(ME) 4

The Red Sox and Tigers squared off in the last game before the trading deadline. Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd on a solo HR by Gerald Laird over the green monster. Boston responded in the bottom of the 3rd with 4 runs of their own on an 2-RBI double by Dustin Pedroia, an RBI double by David Ortiz and an RBI single by Victor Martinez. Jon Lester was the story of the game as he went 8+ innings of 1 run baseball to pick up the win and Jonathan Papelbon came on to get the final 2 outs and record the save.

David Ortiz has extended his hitting streak to 21 games
Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 16 games

The Red Sox are now 59-44 on the season and the trading deadline is upon us. I will make whatever moves the "real-life" Red Sox make and will make all the major moves for the other MLB teams.

                          Game #104 of the Season

                          Detroit(CPU) 4 @ Boston(ME) 5 (10 innings)

The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a Magglio Ordonez solo HR. Boston would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 2nd on a 2-run HR by Victor Martinez. The Tigers would get 3 runs off of Daisuke Matsuzaka in the top of the 5th including a 2-run double by Branodn Inge and an RBI single by Ryan Raburn to give Detroit a 4-2 lead. The Red Sox would pull within a run on a Jacoby Ellsbury RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to make it a 4-3 game. Boston would tie the game in the bottom of the 7th on an Ellsbury RBI double to make it 4-4. Daniel Bard escaped a major jam in the top of the 8th as the Tigers had runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out but they couldn't score. Johnny Damon hit a 2 out triple in the top of the 9th but was stranded at 3rd when Bard got Raburn to fly out to end the inning. The Red Sox started the bottom of the 9th with back to back singles by Adrian Beltre and JD Drew. Mike Cameron would bunt the runners over to 2nd & 3rd with 1 out, but Fu-Te Ni would escape the jam for the Tigers as he would strike out Jed Lowrie and get Ellsbury to ground out to end the inning and send it to extra innings. Kevin Youkilis would be the hero in the bottom of the 10th after Dustin Pedroia walked and stole second base. David Ortiz struck out and then Youkilis lined a single into RF and Pedroia would just beat the throw from Magglio Ordonez to the plate to give Boston the 5-4 victory.

David Ortiz had his hitting streak snapped at 21 games
Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 17 games

The Tigers got excellent work from Phil Coke and Joel Zamaya out of the bullpen to close this thing out in the late innings and preserve the 5-1 victory.

Kevin Youkilis extended his hitting streak to 19 games

Dustin Richardson would relieve Lackey and strike out 3 straight batters to finish the game.
