What a Joke
I have been playing MLB The Show series since it was released in 2006. I have always started a full 162 season. I have played three full seasons since 2006 and each year gone to the world series winning it twice. The saying for MLB 10 the show is "What's Realistic?" your guess is as good as mine. I love playing this game I really do. However I have literally no clue what im doing or what to do. I have been the St. Lous Cardinals now for 30 games. After starting 10-3 im now 18-12. I continue to play with the sliders and difficulties settings. When hitting on all star I average about 5 hits and 3 runs a game when using the default sliders of Psycho "perfect slider set" When pitching on all star with either the default of the perfect slider set I allow maybe 3 runs. When I hit on veteran I seem to hit dramatically better and crush everything. I have just played on the following setting and sliders. Hitting All star with the contact and solid hits up one click and veteran pitching with the contact and solid hits up one click. Maybe its because the solid hits and contact was up or maybe because I played the braves and phillies but I have lost 8 of 10 games and once again feel like I have not clue what im doing. weather on this web page or on the play station sports connect I find that people are using all type or settings and sliders. I always thought that the setting for both hitting pitching should be the same and that the sliders for both the computer and use should be the same otherwise I get this overwhelming feeling of "Cheating?" after seeing so many different settings I find this really isn't true. I like hitting and pitching on All star. I find this is the most challenging but funniest setting I suppose I can use these settings for both hitting and pitching. With the contact and solid hits up on click and default sliders for the computer I guess this might still be cheating but I have no clue what setting or slider set to use. I have started and stopped about six different seasons since this game was released and I guess once again I will have to do it again, I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO! any help, recommendations, or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. This will be the last thread i will post (I hope)Year 20 of playing MLB The Show!

Re: What a Joke
First, breathe.
Then, tell us exactly what's the issue? Is it too hard, too easy, too unrealistic (and why?).
What specifically is causing you to become so frustrated that you forget to use that little key with the dot on it... -

Re: What a Joke
Have you tried playing the game on dafault sliders and play the game as is out of the box. I know people have different skills when it comes to this game but for me, All Star default for hitting and pitching has provided me with realistic results. I am in 3rd place right now, 2.5gms behind the Rays and 1 gm behind the Red Sox on June 6th of my franchise. Ive had blowouts and close games. Winning streaks and loosing streaks. I try to avoid messing with Sliders since it results in constantly making adjustments rather than enjoying the game as is. For 2 years now (MLB 09 and 10) i left the sliders alone and just played the game and I have enjoyed the games immensely. Ive gotten realistic results both years.PSN: ckarlic

Re: What a Joke
Hey everybody,
I hope everyone is having a great day. I enjoy this site very much, I find everyone's opinions and results very helpful. I have posted two forums on this site maybe you have seen them (What a joke, and I Give up, under MLB 10 sliders) After struggling and basically giving up on this game and myself. I finally dropped down to Veteran for hitting level. I'm currently playing a 162 game season with the St. Louis Cardinals. I have only played four games and I have had great results. Hitting is much easier and I don't have to focus as if I'm trying to solve a calculus problem just to get a hit. I have set my team and know that I'm going to play with veteran hitting. I continue to pitch on all star however. The only question I have is that I continue to switch between default sliders, and Psycho perfect slider set. I don't really enjoy setting sliders but do find that the "Perfect slider set" is very realistic with the fielders ability's and type of hits. However I have been informed by several individuals that this game is just about perfect out of the box on default sliders and settings (which is believe is Veteran play?) I guess I'm looking for feed back on how difficult you guys find pitching on default sliders on veteran and or all star. Do you find it realistic? To easy to hard? Let me know. I'm SOOOOOOO tiered of worrying about the sliders and settings. I just want to play my season and regardless if I win or lose I don't want to have to blame it on the settings or sliders. what do you guys think? I find Veteran hitting way to easy put all star hitting a very hard challenge. There doesn't seem to be a in between. And as far as pitching there really isn't a difference for me on either veteran or all star. ThanksYear 20 of playing MLB The Show!

Sliders for baseball games are very subjective as there's so many different ways to play the game and people's reflexes are on different levels.Currently Playing:

Re: What a Joke
Not sure how you play, but I've noticed that you will have more success in this game if you take pitches and not just going up there hacking at the first fastball up in the zone. Don't be afraid to take a fastball up to get a better pitch later in the count. And this is for any difficulty. It not only helps you to see the zone better but also will teach you to adjust to pitches away and inside, up or down in the zone. This game isn't going to hand you hits, you gotta battle.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
