Closers getting the hook too early?

Ok, I've only played a few games so far, but is there a problem with the CPU's closer getting the hook too early? I use the top rated sliders from online, but I've now upped the RP stamina.

Case in point, Papelbon comes in against me to close out a 3 run lead (full strength, first game of the season actually). He gets the first guy out, and then I hit a HR with the second guy. The CPU then takes out Papelbon and puts in Bard. Pap maybe threw 5 pitches total before being yanked. Closers (especially established ones) very, very rarely get the hook, unless they've blown the lead and there's no signs of letting up. Even moreso, they certainly don't get the hook after just a single run being scored, cutting it to a 2 run lead with 2 outs remaning.

Same thing happened the next game...except I simply hit a single with 2 outs and 1 run down (no one else on base), and this was AFTER I upped the RP Stamina to about the default setting. My question is, does this happen a lot? It doesn't seem to be a matter of stamina...just the slightest sign of trouble and the CP gets the hook. I appreciate any insight you guys could give me.

They aren't removing him because of stamina issues, but rather pitcher confidence.

Rather than screw with the "reliever stamina" slider, why not lower the "manager hook" slider?

At least move the slider that adjusts what you're trying to manipulate.

I get what you're saying...but that particular slider seems to be accurate in yanking other pitchers...just the closers that seem to be a problem. I don't want to manipulate it, and then starters/relievers are still going deep into the game while getting roughed up. Maybe this is just an anomaly in the admittedly small sample size I've played.

I've played probably in the neighborhood of 100 games. All of which, I have had manager hook at six and rel stam at zero. This has happened to me twice, and both against Boston. I can't confirm this as a glitch, but my best guess would be is that Terry Francona pulls his pitchers when their confidence is down.

Look at it more as a manager quirk, or strategy, than as a game killer. I know it's unrealistic for Bard to rescue Pap for the save, but this has yet to be an issue for me against other teams.

I've only seen this when the closer gives up the lead.
Most recently against the Twins I scored 2 to tie in the 9th off Nathan, with the tying run coming on a 2 out, 3rd strike wild pitch. He was taken out right after that and I won in the 10th.
I have reliever stamina and manager hook both at default if it matters.

This happened with Mo the other day. I was the Mets and down 3 runs in the 9th. I scored 2 off Mo and with 2 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd, Mo got yanked.
