    Basic slider questions

    Hi,

Let me preface this by saying I am pretty new to slider adjustments, I've never worried about them or bothered adjusting them before, so my knowledge of them is pretty minimal.

I asked this in the regular Q and A thread but didn't get an answer, I figured the more slider knowledgeable people in here could help. A few questions:

    1) Say I have adjusted some things in the CPU pitching sliders, but then in a game I am ONLY doing the batting (and doing a 'fast forward half inning' when it's my turn to pitch) ... Will my team's pitcher use the CPU pitching sliders because the CPU is simulating that half inning, or will he use the human sliders because he is on the human team?

Basically I've made some changes to how often the CPU pitchers throw strikes and how consistent they are and I just want to be find out if this will negatively impact my pitchers or not if I sim half innings sometimes.

    2) What about games in a franchise that I sim completely? If I have dropped pitcher control and consistency sliders for games I play because I want more realistic pitch counts and to be able to work counts and draw walks, will these sliders be used during games that are simmed completely and result in more walks (for just CPU, or for both teams?), etc.. or are default sliders used for simmed games?

    3) How do different difficulty levels impact sliders?

    4) Is there actually a difficultly level for CPU hitting (not just the sliders, but the difficulty itself), or is how well the computer hits based solely on an inverse relationship with what difficulty level of pitching setting you have? (Ie. CPU hitters will be at their worst if you are using Rookie pitching and will be at their best if you are using Legend pitching) ... I thought I had heard someone talk about a CPU hitting difficulty but I don't recall ever seeing that.

Any and all info and insights you can share with me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Re: Basic slider questions

    1. Anytime you switch sides, the CPU becomes you. Example: You have CPU strike frequency at 3. You decide to hit for the other team. The pitchers still pitch with the reduced frequency. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the fact that sliders aren't attached to a specific profile.

I'm also fairly certain that when the fast forward option is used, the calulations are made using the sim engine. The same engine used to completely sim games. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

    2. This year, the stamina sliders are attached to the sim engine. I'd suggest having a separate set of sliders with default stamina for complete simming until you notice any trends. I'm also pretty sure that the other sliders have no impact on true simming. But, just to be safe, since you'll need a separate set for simming anyway, leave them at default too.

    3. Difficulty levels, firstly, impact the game controls...the throwing meters get tougher, and CPU logic increases. They will pick up on your hitting patterns quicker the higher you go, and pitch in less recognizable patterns too.

Pitch speed increases as you increase difficulty. Default pitch speed on rookie is slower than default pitch speed on legend.

I'm also certain that in general, either strike frequency, CPU control and CPU consistency go up difficulty goes up...as well as a decrease in user timing, contact, power, and solid hits...I'm not saying I know exactly which ones change...it could only be some of them...what I mean is, I have no idea EXACTLY which sliders to change on Legend to have it exactly mirror HOF, though it truely can't because their are no sliders for meter speed, etc, which are locked into difficulty.

    4. Isolated, removing the mechanic difficulties, the short answer in my experience is no. Perfect example: CPU vs. CPU difficulty is irrelevant, and has no baring on gameplay. Rookie and Legend are identical in CPU vs. CPU games.

Again, if any of this is false, someone please correct me. This is just based on my experience and research.
