How does lowering power slider affect the little guys?

I play on HOF with timing hitting. I was seeing too many homers from me and the CPU with power at default (5), so I went down to 4 for both me and the CPU. I still see a few too many homers. Last game between the Tigers and Yankees (me) there were a total of 9 homers - guys like Ramon Santiago, Scott Sizemore and Derek Jeter all went deep. I'm thinking I need to lower the power slider down to 3. My concern about lowering this slider too much is that it will completely zap the power of the "little" guy, so players like Jeter, Gardner, etc won't be able to hit any homers. Jeter shouldn't hit 30 homers, but should be able to hit 12-15.

For those of you who have reduced this slider to 3 or less are you seeing homers hit by guys like Jeter and Gardner?

Currently I have the other human hitting sliders (contact, timing and solid hits) set at default and for the CPU I have these sliders set at 4. I use meter pitching. Thanks for your input.

Default is definitely too much power. Go to the CPU vs CPU thread and check out some of the conversations. IMO u definitely need POWER at 4 as well as SOLID HITS at 4. Seems too fit well together

Wind plays a huge role in homers this year.

My 'big' homer games all occurred with the wind blowing 20+ mph out. In one inning, Cards vs. Nats, I saw like 7 homers. NOTE: I have NOT seen anything close to this in ANY game since, and I've played plenty.

Sorry this doesn't directly answer your question, but in order to get to the root 'issue', it's something you'll need to consider. Play a series with the wind blowing in, and you'll be thrilled to see it blowing out again...sort of like an old friend.

My home runs per game are pretty realistic, btw. I'm Timing only on HOF too. I'm not saying not to lower power or wind (fwiw, I lowered CPU solid hits one click...to 4), and I may do the same with the wind slider but I don't feel compelled to at the moment.

I agree with the wind. I played as the Brewers against the Reds with the wind blowing out at 15. I hit 9 homers including 3 in a row and the CPU hit 4. I had 13 hits in the game. That is when I moved up to Legend, only to find after a few games that I'm not at that level yet. So Heroes, are you saying that you are currently on HOF playing with contact, power and timing at default with solid hits at 4? Are your human hitting sliders all at default?

I have also lowered the wind slider to 3. I just want to have realistic homer numbers for all players - I don't want A-Rod hitting 90 homers this season, but I also don't want Jeter unable to hit any homers.

          Yeah...

          All default, minus these:

          CPU Solid Hits 4

          CPU Pitcher Consistency 3

          Pitch Speed 4

Both Errors at 6 (for now)

          SB Frequency 6

Wind is at Default for now...but it's effects are enormous this year. Yes, it created HR's...but it also prevents them. Though, I may have to drop it, because I'll be playing as the Yanks when Knights rosters drop. I still haven't decided on the wind slider for sure, though.

I appreciate your input. We are pretty close with our sliders. I have CPU consistency at 3 and errors at 6 as well. My pitch speed is at 3. I was at 4 last year, but it seems a bit faster this year. Like I said in my previous post my human hitting sliders are all at default except power is at 4. My cpu hitting sliders are all at 4 bcause I seem to get clobbered when I put them at default. Maybe when if/when I start pitching better I can move them back to default. I kind of feel like I'm cheating lowering the CPU hitting sliders to 4, but I was giving up too many hits and homers at default.

What pitching method do you use?

I was just about ready to post that! LOL!

Analog...but it probably shouldn't matter THAT much...depending on our overall analog/meter skills.

I wouldn't make any generalizations until you play around 20 franchise/season games. I never test in exhibition...no guys getting tired, no hot or cold streaks, etc.

I'm waiting for the roster update so I can begin a season with my Yankees as well. What I have done is started a season with the Brewers to pass the time. I have played the series against the Reds over and over again just to get a feel for the game, sliders etc. I did start a season with the Yankees as well to play the first game against the Tigers.
