Re: Slider Advice/Dont want to give up

I played the game out of the box and liked it but just wasnt getting alot of offense. Granted I swung at alot of crappy pitches. So I moved contact, timing, and solid hits up to 6. It helped alot. I also got somewhat more patient at the plate. I use zone hitting and play on veteran. Since my new patience, im hitting the ball out of the park actually too much. Ive tried playing on all star, but for some reason, I just get slow rollers or pop outs. I cant seem to get the hang of all star hitting.

      Hey guys,

I started this thread about a month ago, stating that I was having trouble creating consistent offense, and always messing around with the sliders. I have found a set that has worked for me now and hitting is no longer a major issue. The following is the final set I will be using.

      Contact - 6
      Human Power - 4
      Human Timing - 5
      Human Foul Frequency - 5
      Human Solid Hits - 5
      Human Starter Stamina - 5
      Human Reliever Stamina - 2
      Human Pitcher Control - 5
      Human Pitcher Consistency - 5
      CPU Contact - 6
      CPU Power - 4
      CPU Timing - 5
      CPU Foul Frequency - 5
      CPU Solid Hits - 5
      CPU Starter Stamina - 5
      CPU Reliever Stamina - 2
      CPU Pitcher Control - 5
      CPU Pitcher Consistency - 5
      CPU Strike Frequency - 5
      CPU Manager Hook - 5
      CPU Pick offs - 5
      Pitch Speed - 5
      Fielding Errors - 7
      Throwing Errors - 5
      Fielder Run Speed - 2
      Fielder Reaction - 5
      Fielder Arm Strength - 3
      Base runner Speed - 4
Base runner Steal Ability - 4
Base runner Steal Frequency - 5
      Wind - 3

The pitch speed has made by far the biggest difference for me. For whatever reason the lower the pith speed the more poorly I hit. I have no clue why that is. I can honestly say I have no clue why I try to stick with other peoples sliders when I have always played at pretty much default. Slider set as close as to default always work the best for me. I hope I can get at least two full seasons in before the next version is released, and now can finally enjoy this great game. I thank everyone for there help. Have a good day.

those look good. Are you playing on all star hitting and pitching?

I was having trouble before I think because I swung at alot of crappy pitches. Granted I still do, but not as much. I have been going back and forth for two days from all star hitting and veteran. I wanted the cpu to be better but I knew I shouldnt be hitting home runs at the pace I was on veteran. I moved to all star today and am using these with ZONE hitting. I do not like timing hitting, no matter how much I tried to like it, it is just NOT better IMHO.

        Contact - 7-8
        Human Power - 5
        Human Timing - 5
        Human Foul Frequency - 5
        Human Solid Hits - 5
        Human Starter Stamina - 5
        Human Reliever Stamina - 5
        Human Pitcher Control - 5
        Human Pitcher Consistency - 5
        CPU Contact - 6
        CPU Power - 5
        CPU Timing - 5
        CPU Foul Frequency - 5
        CPU Solid Hits - 5
        CPU Starter Stamina - 5
        CPU Reliever Stamina - 5
        CPU Pitcher Control - 5
        CPU Pitcher Consistency - 5
        CPU Strike Frequency - 5
        CPU Manager Hook - 5
        CPU Pick offs - 5
        Pitch Speed - 5
        Fielding Errors - 5
        Throwing Errors - 5
        Fielder Run Speed - 3
        Fielder Reaction - 5
        Fielder Arm Strength - 5
        Base runner Speed - 5
Base runner Steal Ability - 5
Base runner Steal Frequency - 5
        Wind - 3

I find that the pitchers on all star pitch way better than veteran ones. They worked the corners more and use the whole plate. I like the fact that the hitters are better and punish me if I do make a mistake.

The reason I have human contact that high is due to me trying to be a good enough hitter to play on all star. If the game gets too easy like it did with veteran, then I will bump the contact back down to compensate.

Looks ok to me. I cant tell you what to do as a have never seen you play. However you should try playing with the sliders you have now on vetran. Give it a couple of series on default contact, power, solid hits, everything. And also try the fielder run speed at 2, you will see many more hits, especially extra base hits. I agree with you on zone to by the way. Have a good one, hope this works out for you.

you might be right. Ive been playing a couple games on veteran hitting with contact up a little and the rest pretty much default. getting good results. for some reason, as soon as I put it on all star, the hitting is just way different. I notice that balls i hit on veteran in the gap, are just weaker. maybe you just have to swing perfect on all star.

These are very similar to the set I just started using on Allstar. I've only played 2 games with them, but so far so good. My changes are below:

              Human/CPU Solid Hits - 4
              Pitch Speed - 4
              CPU Strike Frequency - 2
              Manager Hook - 6
              Throwing Errors - 6
              Fielder Run Speed - 3
              Fielder Arm Strength - 4
              Baserunner Steal Ability - 5
              Baserunner Steal Frequency - 6
