What rosters are you using? Seems you have Byrd on the team and Middlebrook. You manually making all these moves yourself?

Hey man, been wicked busy in preparation for the draft. Wanted to dig in a bit in regards to timing hitting.

Just a tip, you may want to change the OP so people know to use zone and whatever pitching you are now using as it still says meter and timing.

            TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

BOSTON RED SOX @ KANSAS CITY ROYALS
GAME #31 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Jon Lester vs. Luke Hochevar)

The Red Sox look for the 3 game sweep of the Royals as they send their ace Jon Lester to the mound against Luke Hochevar. The Royals got a leadoff single by Chris Getz and he came around to score on an RBI double by Lorenzo Cain as Kansas City had a 1-0 lead before Lester could record an out. Lester settled down and got out of the inning without any further damage. Hochevar struck out Marlon Byrd with runners on the corners to end the top of the 2nd inning. The Red Sox had runners at the corners with nobody out to start the top of the 3rd inning and Ryan Sweeney hit a sac fly to CF to score Nick Punto and tie the game at 1-1. The Royals got RBI singles from Yuniesky Betancourt and Chris Getz in the bottom of the 4th give Kansas City a 3-1 lead. Lester struck out Lorenzo Cain with runners on 2nd & 3rd to get out of the inning and send the game to the 5th inning with the Royals leading 3-1. The Boston offense came alive as Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a solo HR with 1 out in the top of the 6th to cut the Royals lead to 3-2. Hochevar beaned David Ortiz with 2 outs and it proved costly as Will Middlebrooks was up next and he crushed a slider that Hochevar left up in the zone down the left field line and around the foul pole for his 1st major league HR to give the Red Sox a 4-3 lead. Lester was pitching better as the game went along and he cruised through the bottom of the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox on top 4-3. The Red Sox went back to work in the top of the 7th as they had men on 2nd & 3rd with one out and Ryan Sweeney hti a chopper to the right of the mound that was fielded by Aaron Crow and he unleashed a wild throw home that allowed Marlon Byrd to score and Sweeney ended up at 2nd base making it 5-3. Dustin Pedroia was up next and he poked a single through the right side of the infield to score two runs and increase the Sox lead to 7-3. David Ortiz was hit by a pitch for the 2nd time in the game to load the bases with one out but Jonathan Broxton would get out of the inning and keep the score at 7-3. Lester sat the Royals down in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th with Boston leading 7-3. The Royals shot themselves in the foot again with 2 outs in the 8th as Betancourt threw the ball away on a groundball by Sweeney that should have ended the inning and Ellsbury scored to make it 8-3. Dustin Pedroia added and RBI triple and Adrian Gonzalez followed with an RBI double to make it 10-3 as the Red Sox scored 10 runs for the 3rd straight game against the Royals. It got so abd the Kansas City had to bring in starting pitcher Felipe Paulino from the bullpen in mop up duty. Vicente Padilla relieved Lester with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th after an RBI single by Humberto Quintero. Padilla got Dyson to ground out and then allowed an RBI single to Chris Getz to make it 10-5 before stiking out Cain to end the 8th inning with Boston out in front by a score of 10-5. Franklin Morales pitched the bottom of the 9th as the Red Sox complete the 3 game sweep 10-5 as they dominated Kansas City in all 3 games.

            * The Red Sox absolutely dominated Kansas City in all aspects of this 3 game series as they outscored the Royals 31-9 in the 3 games.

            * Dustin Pedroia went 3 for 6 and finished a double shy of the cycle as he had a single, triple and a HR w/ 4 RBI and 2 runs scored in the game. Pedroia is hitting .386 over his last 10 games to raise his average to .242 on the season.

            * Nick Punto got the start at SS to give Mike Aviles a day off and Punto rewarded his manager by going 4 for 5 in the game

I just got the game and immediately plugged these sliders in and loved them. It's probably me just being bad and impatient, but I seem to be K'ing a lot -- does anyone have any tips on being patient? It just seems impossible for me right now to determine a fastball and a curve / slider as soon as it comes out of the pitcher's hand. So as soon as I get on that 2-strike count, it's either I foul it off or I'm gonna get K'd.

                  TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

CLEVELAND INDIANS vs. BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #32 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Josh Beckett)

The Red Sox return home on a 3 game winning streak and begin a 4 game series with the Cleveland Indians at Fenway Park. Josh Beckett came out dealing as he recorded 3 K's in the top of the 1st inning. Dustin Pedroia remained red hot as he launched a 2-run HR into the monster seats to give the Red Sox a quick 2-0 lead after the 1st inning. Beckett picked up 2 more K's in the top of the 2nd inning as the Indians went quietly. The Indians stranded a couple baserunners in the top of the 3rd and Beckett had 6 K's through 3 innings of work. Ubaldo Jimenez settled down after the Pedroia HR int he 1st inning and retired the next 9 batters he faced as we went to the 4th inning with Boston leading 2-0. Jimenez had retired 11 straight before David Ortiz hit a 425 foot solo HR to CF to give Boston a 3-0 lead after 4 innings of play. The Red Sox were making the most of their opportunities as Ryan Sweeney walked to begin the 5th and came in to score on an RBI double by Jarrod Saltalamacchia to take a 4-0 lead despite the fact that they had only 3 hits to this point. Jimenez was having control issues as he issued his 3rd walk of the game and Manny Acta had seen enough and called on Jairo Asencio to come in from the pen to face Pedroia with two men on as Jimenez departs after just 4.1 innings. Asencio got Pedroia to hit into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play to keep the Indians in the game as we head to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-0. The Indians got on the board when Johnny Damon led off the top of the 6th with a double and he came in to scroe on an RBI single by Asdrubal Cabrera. Shin-Soo Choo delivered a big two out RBI single up the middle to score Cabrera to make it 4-2. The Indians had two men on with two outs but Beckett would strike out Brantley to get out of trouble and keep the score at 4-2. Asencio set the Red Sox down in order in the bottom of the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-2. The Indians continued their comeback as Casey Kotchman took Beckett's 1st pitch of the 7th inning deep down the RF line for a solo HR to cut the Sox lead to 4-3. Johnny Damon doubled with one out and that was all for Beckett as Bobby Valentine came to the mound and called on lefty Franklin Morales to come in to face Jason Kipnis with the tying run on 2nd base. Morales got Kipnis to ground out to 2nd base for the 2nd out and struck out Cabrera on a filthy curveball to strand Damon at 3rd base as the Red Sox still lead 4-3. Tony Sipp pitched a perfect bottom of the 7th for Cleveland and we would head to the 8th inning with Boston leading 4-3. Morales remained in the game for Boston and he retired Travis Hafner and Carlos Santana for the 1st two outs before issuing a two out walk to Choo. Cleveland would call on Lou Marson to pinch hit for Brantley and Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine would counter by going to his closer Alfredo Aceves with two outs in the 8th looking for the 4 out save. Marson could not get the big hit as he grounded out to Youkilis at 3rd base to end the top of the 8th inning with Boston holding on to a 4-3 lead. Tony Sipp pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th to keep the score 4-3 heading into the 9th inning. Aceves made quick work of the Indians in the top of the 9th as he retired Kotchman, Hannahan and Damon to record his 9th save of the season as Boston wins 4-3

                  * The Red Sox have won 4 straight and will send Clay Buchholz to the mound tomorrow vs. Justin Masterson

                  * The Indians got a strange performance on the mound from Ubaldo Jimenez. He was very erratic at times and unhittable at others as he issued 3 walks and allowed 4 runs on just 3 hits in 4.1 innings.

                  * The Indians bullpen was outstanding as Jairo Asencio and Tony Sipp combined to pitch 3.2 inings of no hit ball.

                  * The Red Sox managed only 3 hits in this ballgame but they made them count as they were all extra base hits. 1) Pedroia hit a 2-run HR after a walk to Ellsbury, 2) Saltalamacchia doubled after a walk to Sweeney, and 3) Ortiz hit a solo HR

                  * Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 11 games

Re: TNK - 2012 Realism Sliders Thread

After forgetting about this site and the awesome sliders you can find (I was using defaults) I decided to plug these into my new franchise. Has anybody used these but bumped up pitching to hall of fame? So far my batting is terrible, but that is to be expected as I haven't done a lot of batting in the game. I figure it will turn around eventually.

However my pitching is off the charts. My pitching staff is nothing to behold yet... prospects and Bud norris (astros). But I've taken perfect games into the 5th or 6th (and 7th once) innings in all but one start in my first 6 games. My starting pitching era is around 1.2 probably.

So just wondering if anybody has used these sliders with Hall of Fame for pitching?

What pitching method are you using? Are you sure you are pitching on All-Star? Are you sure all sliders are set correctly?

Definitely set correctly, and on all-star. I just noticed that it is on pure analog for pitching.. I thought I switched it but must not have saved (I guess that would be why nothing was different lol). Would that really account for pitching so well on the sliders? In my next few games it hasn't been quite as awesome but still very very good when I expect to struggle with the guys i'm throwing out there..

                          TNK - RED SOX FRANCHISE

CLEVELAND INDIANS vs. BOSTON RED SOX
GAME #33 of the season (Pitching Matchup - Justin Masterson vs. Clay Buchholz)

The Red Sox look to extend their winning streak to 5 games as they send Clay Buchholz to the mound against his former teammate Justin Masterson for Cleveland. Both teams stranded two men on base in the 2nd inning and we would move to the 3rd inning with no score 0-0. Cleveland had a great chance when Johnny Damon tripled with 1 out in the top of the 3rd but Buchholz battled back as he froze Kipnis with a curveball and got Asdrubal Cabrera to ground out to end the threat and keep the game scoreless. The Red Sox opened the scoring in the bottom of the 3rd as Dustin Pedroia took a fastball into the monster seats for a 2-run HR and Boston had a 2-0 lead after 3 innings. Dustin Pedroia picked up his 3rd RBI in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single and the Red Sox would take a 3-0 lead into the 6th inning. Buchholz was pitching a great game as he sat the Indians down in the top of the 6th to keep the score 3-0. Joe Smith relieved Masterson to start the bottom of the 6th and pitched a 1-2-3 inning as we would move to the 7th inning with Boston leading 3-0. Cleveland finally got to Buchholz in the top of the 7th, Kotchman walked with 1 out and a single by Jack Hannahan brought up Johnny Damon who laced an RBI single to RF to make it 3-1 and end the night for Buchholz who was over 100 pitches. Bobby Valentine turned to lefty Rich Hill to face Jason Kipnis with runners on the corners and Kipnis delivered an RBI single after a tremedous 12 pitch at bat to cut the Boston lead to 3-2. Asdrubal Cabrera flew out deep to CF for the 2nd out and that would bring up Travis Hafner with runners on the corners and Hill would get Hafner to ground out to end the inning with the Red Sox lead still intact at 3-2. Rafael Perez pitched the bottom of the 7th for Cleveland and got Nick Punto to hit into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning and send the game to the 8th with Cleveland trailing by a score of 3-2. Rich Hill remained in the game for the top of the 8th and did a great job as he set the side down in order to keep the Boston lead at 3-2. Rafael Perez pitched around a walk to Ortiz in the bottom of the 8th and we would go to the 9th with Boston leading 3-2. Red Sox closer Alfredo Aceves entered the game looking for his 10th save of the season and he started the inning by striking out Casey Kotchman and Jack Hannahan as Cleveland was down to their final out. Johnny Damon came up and lined a ball down the 1st base line that was cutoff by Ryan Sweeney in RF as Damon tried to stretch it into a double and Sweeney made a great throw to nail Damon at 2nd base for the final out as the Red Sox win 3-2.

                          * The Red Sox have won 5 straight games

                          * Dustin Pedroia extended his hitting streak to 12 games

I've been getting slightly better at hitting although I'm still mustering about 1-2 runs only. Would you suggest increasing anything to help a slight novice like me? Or should I just stick it through...

And when you're pitching do you pitch by what the catcher AI suggests or do you pitch whichever pitches you feel like?

Thanks. I feel that these are realistic sliders, I just have to adapt a little bit.

You need to draw walks and get into hitters counts, especially with men on base - THAT'S HOW YOU PRODUCE RUNS....you aren't going to get better after a couple games....you need to stick with it and keep working

                              * Maybe you can up contact and timing 1 click each and see how it goes

I throw what I want on the mound - DON'T LET THE GAME TELL ZYOU WHAT TO THROW.....sometimes I'll see what the catcher is calling and go with him if I like the call......but I make the decision

I'm still K'ing way too much... I might have to increase the contact or timing 1 click. Should I increase both or should I try increasing just one first?
