A list of players that are not so fast (by Speed rating) but with more than one SB:

    Matt Diaz
    Chase Utley
    Wilson Valdez
    J.D. Martinez
    Lance Berkman
    Aaron Hill
    Ryan Theriot
    Mike Aviles
    Brett Lawrie
    Alex Gordon
    Danny Valencia
    Brian Dinkelman
    David Murphy
    Josh Hamilton
Nice. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing a slower guy run and get thrown out on a failed hit and run attempt. I guess they will sneak a few succesful attempts in as well.

What is the main difference between solid hits default and lowering to 4? Is there more lazy flyballs?

The SH slider changes the fraction of solid/poor hits. Lowering it, you'll see more choppers/popups, increasing it you'll see more line drives.

I'm reducing SH to 4 just to reduce line drives a tiny bit.

Man I've missed those graphs Nomo, mind if you do the pitch speed one again since the variance was changed? The fastest I could handle in High school was 92 (not saying I crushed them ), much harder to do in The Show, but I always love a challenge!

I tried to do this again, but I don't have a very good quality cam recorder, and the best I can get to is 30 fps, which is only good to about +/-2.5 mph. This isn't really high enough time resolution to distinguish about 1 - 2 mph differences that this year's game has changed. But it still looks like the Pitch Speed slider maxed out is the way to go if you want to match in-game mph numbers to real-life speeds.

Re: Stats-Based CPU Sliders [MLB 12 Version]

It's time again. Me crunching numbers again on a Friday evening in hope of finding that special someone here at OS, the best site for the Internet dating.

What do I have to offer?

                  Park factor.

These are only after a month worth of games, just over 30 games for each team, meaning only about 15 games are played at home. So the numbers are not very accurate.

But I'm so desperate that I'm compelled to offer whatever I have to offer...

Edit (Apr. 26): Updated this with the numbers through May 16 in the test season.

Park factor of > 1 means the park favors hitters, < 1 means it favors pitchers.

As you see it's not guaranteed that those mimic the real life park factors in those stadiums, but the differences appear to be there.

Interesting numbers. I love how parks play differently. I've always been fascinated by that.

There is already talk that the new Miami park is not going to be very homer friendly.

Does the show account for how the ball flies in certain parks or is it all based on distance?

Not sure. But certain aspect of air condition appears to be incorporated in the game (like Colorado).

And the Yankee stadium in the game is very HR happy (which also shows in the number above), as in real life.

So some aspect like that and not just park dimensions is probably taken into account... or at least I'm not surprised if it does.

Another factor is wind... it has a very strong effect on HRs in game. So depending on how wind tends to blow in certain parks, they may affect park factors. I don't know wind directions are meant to simulate real life numbers though.

Yes. I've noticed that with wind as well. Recently had a game with the Cubs in Wrigley where the wind was blowing in. Anything hit into the gaps was really dying out there.

I thought that was very realistic.

                            Nomo,

Have you ever charted the direction of the wind. Just in glancing it seems to be blowing out much more than it blows in. I actually turn wind off, in CPU games it doesn't do anything for me to see the ball blowing around and it's just one more variable to consider when charting stats.

Looks like there are roughly equal number of games with wind blowing in and out:

                              http://www.operationsports.com/forum...post2043519128

Yeah it maybe a good idea to turn off Wind for testing to eliminate one variable, but then I wanted to see it's effect as well so it's all good...

With default settings, I think you'll +/-25% - 30% more or less HRs depending on wind blowing out/in. That's probably too much compared to real life, so if you want to reduce wind factor significantly I'd go at or lower than Wind = 3. I'm just using Wind = 4 to match wind strength number to real life.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm ready to start my season then. I made a roster setting them for 4/5 and I plan to CPU vs. CPU every game. Between the console and the Vita I think I might make it! I plan to update the rosters after each day to correspond with the actual team rosters so if a guy goes on the DL on 4/7 then I take him off my roster on 4/7 and insert the new player. We'll see how long it takes but I'm hoping to make the whole year before The Show '13!
