    Skyboxer's HOF Sliders with "Rules"

    Edited: 3.18.12
    Couple notes:
Do NOT throw meat or you will get hammered. At least I do. That is the reason I upped the USER pitch control and consistancy. If you use the power swing I'd suggest to up the CPU's also and lower USER timing another notch.

With these your slower Outfielders will be a risk
I had it a touch slower and just didn't like how it looked. With these however I had a ball hit over OF head, nice doubles down the lines etc...

I also never take an extra step when stealing. Just prefer not to.

Lastly I never believe any set fits every person but can get them on right track. I have fun with these and it gives me many tense moments and with my added rules a lot more fun. Which is what it's all about for me.
So what results/stats I get won't necessarily match anyone else.
Just wanted to share what I was doing.

    Have fun!
    ----------------------------------------------------

Pitching: HOF - Pulse (I always pitch to edges EXCEPT when up 4 or more)
    Batting: HOF - Timed
Fielding: Anaolog or Button- Whatever you like : With MANUAL fielding:
I used to be auto but It's just too fun not to do in manual

    RULES I Use Now:
    Power Swing:
Only in 2-0,3-0 or 3-1 counts with Legit Power Hitters (You can still get HR's without using power swing however)

    NEW Rule I started:
Guess LOCATION With Feedback (NOT PITCH):
    Innings 1-6: In 2-0,3-0 or 3-1 counts
    Innings 7- End: 1-0,2-0,2-1,3-0,3-1 and 3-2
These rules Help me get more walks and be patient.

Can I still use these with pure analog hitting? Also do you have fielding on HoF?

Re: Skyboxer's HOF Sliders with "Rules"

Thanks for your sliders Skyboxer. I play on HOF as well (timed and meter) and my slider set was pretty close to your for the most part, so I am happy that I'm on the right track. I have a few questions for you.

I just completed the 3-game series between the Giants (cpu) and the D'backs (me). I lost all 3 games, 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1. All the games were pretty competitive so I think I am playing on the right level, and I played on HOF last year and was pretty successful. So for now I am not considering moving to All-Star.

Anyway, the Giants got 36 hits in the series, inc. 10 xbh not no homers. I got 27 hits, inc. 5 xbh and 1 homer by Drew. I don't know much about NL teams or ballparks, but I'm assuming Arizona's stadium is hitter-friendly.

The first 2 games, I had the hitting sliders at default for both me and the cpy, except that I bumped up my timing and foul frequency up a notch to help with strikeouts and drawing walks. The 3rd game I dropped contact down a notch for both cpu and me as I was having trouble striking out the cpu (only 8 k's in the series)

      Questions:

      1. did you increase power a notch simply because you weren't seeing any homers?

      2. what are you seeing differently by lowering contact a notch and raising ower a notch that you weren't seeing wth both of these at default?

      3. Did you increase human control and consistency because you weren't striking the cpu out very often with these at default?

      4. It seems like the cpu pitches too well with their pitching sliders at default - always making that perfect pitch. Aren't you seeing the same thing? I have lowered their pitching sliders to 4,5,3 to see if can get them to walk me a bit more and give up more meatball pitches.

      5. I have always kept my hitting sliders the same for both the cpu and human (except for bumping up my timing and foul freq. up a notch). Otherwise I feel I'm cheating. You have lowered the cpu's contact, timing, and solid hits sliders lower than the human sliders? Is this necessary this year? Have you done this in previous years? Is the cpu hitting just too good n HOF this year?

Sorry for the length of this post and for all of the questions. But I think I'm pretty close to finalizing my sliders for the year. I have mine posted in my thread HOF feedback/discussions if you want to take a look to compare. Thanks Skyboxer

I never used Analog hitting so I never adjusted the stide slider. Sorry

No the power up was to hopefully help with balls hit down the line dying to fast. So raising that AND adjusting the other areas (pitcher accuracy and batter contact etc. was to help counter the power a bit. I was hitting HR's with power hitters using contact so power wasn't an issue.

          2. what are you seeing differently by lowering contact a notch and raising ower a notch that you weren't seeing wth both of these at default?

          See first answer

Not really. I (almost always) take a strike and sometime 2 with the right hitters in the right situation. You can lower the CPU fStrikes slider and see if that helps.

          5. I have always kept my hitting sliders the same for both the cpu and human (except for bumping up my timing and foul freq. up a notch). Otherwise I feel I'm cheating. Not always. but this year I feel it was necessary to get it even with human. Most setting as you go up IMO make the CPU better etc.. which is the reason for the levels. But I wanted a tougher game but not balanced towards CPU. To me lowering them a tad actually evened it out. I'm 7-9 in my franchise right now and while I'm not happy with my record obviously, I'm happy with how the game is playing as far as feeling like neither side has a "boost" over the other so much.

No problem man. Even now I am excited every day to fire up the game.

Re: Skyboxer's HOF Sliders with "Rules"

Skyboxer, are you walking the cpu much with your human pitching sliders up a notch? I use meter pitching and in 3 games against the Giants and 1 against the Padres I have walked a total of 1 batter. What changer should I make to the sliders if I use meter pitching? I don't usually come close to the yellow line (usually pretty early), so I don't know what I should tweak. Maybe control back to default?

Yes I walk a good amount of batters.
Again though I never throw (aim) in the zone.
My rule is the ball has to be touching the edge of zone or outside it. Unless it's a ball with movement. Then either the ball or the last arrow has to be touching the edge.

Made what I hope to be the last of the tweaks and will upload them.
Just wanted a tad more O but balance it with pitching also. Fits my pitching and hitting formula and as always they won't fit everyone like the fit me

                Have fun everyone...
What a great great game this is.

What's your rationale for -5 on Human/CPU Fouls?

Is it leading to more K's?
