Veteran level CPU pitcher help to draw walks

Had lots of success last year with cpu pitch control 0 & strike frequency at 0 and pitch consistency at default (5) on veteran. Using these I saw pitching duels and slugfest and everything in between. Was also able to draw plenty of walks. Btw, cpu batting settings stayed at default

Re: Veteran level CPU pitcher help to draw walks

Been busy with trying to rehab from surgery(nothin serious ) but started a test season with the Blue Jays to further test these and so far thru 5 1/2 games in two series against Cleveland and Boston(about once thru rotation) I have about 12 or 13 walks. I have also lowered the foul ball slider down to 3. Will try to update with stats again this weekend.

      TOR 2 6 0 2 13
      CLE 0 5 0 0 4

      TOR 5 9 1 2 11
      CLE 8 10 1 3 6

      TOR 5 9 0 1 7
      CLE 1 4 0 0 6

      BOS 1 3 0 4 4
      TOR 5 6 0 4 13

      BOS 6 12 0 0 1
      TOR 4 6 0 3 11

      BOS 11 14 0 1 3
      TOR 4 5 1 0 9

This one Beckett pitched well early on never got my footing.

I don't see how 0 control / 0 strike frequency is helping you walk in the slightest. You walked a mere 12 times while striking out 63 times in only 5 games. I don't hit well so im not insulting your swinging tendency but id assume by "walking a lot" you would have had more than 12 in 5 games.

I'm about Veteran standard myself, but failed to see many walks.
I found a great way to get around this, move pitching and batting up to All Star then on your default sliders lower CPU Contact,Power,Timing,Foul Frequency,Solid Hits,Pitcher Control & Pitcher Consistency all by 2 drops to the left. I have to lower Pitch Speed by 2 also but this is up to you. Leave all else as Default.
With Analog Batting and Meter Pitching I've had some excellent games like this averaging 2-3 walks per side.

My strike outs were high early on because I had forgotten about the lag issue with my TV but lately that has been better. Will try to post some more been also experimenting with the All Star, but there seems to be a bit of comeback issue at that level.

Lowering Control and Strike Frequency don't directly result in more walks...

Re: Veteran level CPU pitcher help to draw walks

It is definitely easier to draw walks on all star than veteran, on veteran the AI is obsessive about throwing strikes and not giving up a walk.

I am in that limbo where All Star hitting is too hard but default Veteran is too easy...so I'm using Veteran Timing hitting I have cpu strike frequency 3 and Control/Consistency at 2 and lowered hitting sliders...Walked 6 times last time while striking out 7. I know its only one game but these are the sliders I have been using and they are working great...regarding walks at least

Will give those a shot over the weekend in my test franchise, in the same boat as you but I like zone hitting. I'm a mature gamerhand/ eye thing, but I just like the feel on Veteran. I just like the variety of games I seem to have(pitcher duels/ slugfest)on this level. Also noticed when a pitcher comes in hot you have to be aggressive early in the count to get to him early.

And yes i totally agree. You have to work the count alot but If they are throwing so many first pitch strikes get aggressive every once in a while early in the count to shake them up.

Yeah I def agree. Its great to work the count and get walks. However, when the CPU keeps throwing first pitch strikes its def good to jump on that to shake them up a bit and hopefully throw off their confidence. My hitting sliders are contact 3, power 4, timing 3, and solid hits 3. What are you using?

Off the top my head, believe mine are contact 4, power 5, timing 6(mainly due to my TV lag issues) solid hits 3. My first game trying the cpu pitching control 2, consistency 2 and control 3, I got only 1 walk off Jared Weaver who came into the game hot with era under 1 and struck me out 9 times(curse you change up), but saw a lot of full counts. Btw was able to take him deep twice.

hahaha yeah playing Jared Weaver probably was the worst guy to play testing sliders against for walks. Hes a beast, but lots of full counts is a good thing! but nice job taking him deep (twice), lol

May try some National League games this weekend, more familiar with those pitchers, but want to see the numbers this 4 game series against the Angels(first-place) produce. If I consistently get decent walk numbers(2-3) on veteran level. Will post some more of my stats soon. Would appreciate feedback for veteran level.
